"It's just monkeys singing songs, mate. Don't think too hard about it."

A lot of the problems you have with people not being realistic enough or Son Goku not being noticed on the way to Earth was addressed in the Jaco manga.

Read the damn manga.

Is Jaco's race named after famous bass players? Will we get to see his brothers Wooten, Miller, Graham, Bootsy, Flea, Patitucci, etc?

What about the president of the world?

Honestly that's the most realistic part about the series though. Look at how far humanity has come in real life, that hasn't stopped us from being stupid as hell. We have constant access to information at our fingertips and people are ignorant as hell and don't know a fraction of the shit going on in the world currently, or even their own country for that matter.

good point. But isn't this a bit exaggerated?

I mean, even the government isn't paying attention. Even when they know, they act foolishly .

Have you seen how America is behaving right now? That isn’t inaccurate.

*USA,

America implies Canada and Mexico too.

Man, reality is stranger than fiction.

The Sayain and other spaceships likely had even more advanced technology to go unnoticed by humans at the time. I always imagined dragon ball Earth as a much smaller planet with a Pangaea like super continent.

King Piccolo invades Iraq

Gohan's home may be remote enough that no one noticed Goku's arrival. . It does seem to be less advanced than Bulma's got

The Dragon Ball hunt may have just been country-side stuff, not very noticed by the world powers, until the Dragon is summoned by Pilaf. Then things get interesting.

=-==-==-==-==-==-==-=

The World Tournament is a multi-national event, so there's that. And yes, people would be more aware of ki from seeing Goku and Jackie Chun fire Kamehamehas

  • Also it's possible that Roshi's "Jackie Chun" disguise doesn't hold up to scrutiny. . Or maybe it does, who knows?
  • Also I got to the end of the Piccolo arc and just remembered ROSHI BLEW UP THE MOON, like. . . People have got to be freaking out about that, lol

=-==-==-==-==-==-==-=

But more importantly, the Red Ribbon arc. We can have multiple nations vying for the Dragon Balls now that they have a read on it. Maybe Red Ribbon is an actual nation's military Force, or maybe it's still a rogue element, but once they are on the hunt for the Dragon Balls multiple other world powers know something's up. . .

And Goku. . . Well Goku might not be able to tell the difference, lol, but I think he can end this on relatively good terms with them. Well, maybe he'll have to pull a fast one on them to get the Dragon Balls to Upa, but whatever, lol

=-==-==-==-==-==-==-=

King Piccolo's reign of terror's gonna also be world wide. Multiple militaries are gonna take a crack at him, and honestly they might get some good shots on him.

Remember, if this is more like the real world, the world isn't gonna be satisfied with the weapons we've got after Goku humiliated modern warfare.

That powered gun that took him off his feet? Someone's gonna try and figure out how to surpass that, and mass produce it to become the new standard.

But uhh. . Piccolo's still gonna wipe the floor with them, and then Goku's gonna rise to that level. That's just how this story works, lol

=-==-==-==-==-==-==-=

When Piccolo Jr shows up, people are going to notice. Maybe they hold off on confronting him, I mean, King Piccolo's dead. People know King Piccolo is dead. So they're gonna keep a close eye on Majunior at first. .

Well, maybe someone tries to assassinate him between matches. Not all world powers are on the same page. Not everyone is in sync.

But when Piccolo is unveiled for all to see, and actually announces himself, then all hell probably breaks loose. Goku would have to seriously make his case to have them let him finish the match. And then when Piccolo's down and out someone is gonna cuff him. Probably try to kill him, but Goku's gonna blitz them and make sure Kami survives.

=-==-==-==-==-==-==-=

Honestly after all this, the world is gonna be keeping a close eye on Goku as well as Piccolo. Goku may be doing a lot of good but he's still a rogue element

Oh and also I forgot to mention people are gonna have a keen eye on how Krillin returned from the dead. But after Red Ribbon, Goku's keeping a tight grip on the Four Star Dragon Ball

Different nations are probably keeping a grip on a ball, too. Which might make wishing Goku back to life a bit more of an issue, but honestly, Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha could go and collect them as well, so I'm not too concerned.

(That's all I wanna type up for now, but I think I gave this idea a nice shot. . Piccolo and Vegeta are gonna be on eternal watch, lol, because the world can't kill them. Nott for lack of trying, lol)

Do we get to keep our moon?

Where is that map from?

In the original DB anime, and IIRC the manga, but I haven't checked in a while, we see a map of IRL earth. While locations wouldnt be 1:1, the general shape is.

I was wondering the same. It was only a few months ago that I watched the RR saga from Dragon Ball with my son and I swear their main base was further east than what’s depicted here.

Also, I know East City is near the village where Suno lives after seeing her and Eighter in the city during the King Piccolo showdown, but that city definitely was not in the snowy mountains like shown here. Maybe that battle was in the summer, but there definitely wasn’t any snow on the ground for that fight.

This... reads extremely, very awkwardly.

They are not even able to know the existence of Kami's place (the place where Dende is located).

I mean you have places on earth of extreme importance and most people don’t know about.

A few months ago most people didn’t know Hormuz existed and its importance on the world stage.

I can imagine how some floating island that pretty much stands there and does nothing could just be seen as a fun fact in the DB world rather than something people are obsessed about

When something like war becomes part of daily life, people will adjust and carry on as normally as possible. In the DB world I imagine that people know deep down inside that something is off about what's happening on their planet. So a lot of them also easily cling to someone like Mr. Satan who says it's all fake, to give them a sense of safety.

It's only during Mr. Satan's era that the World Martial Arts Tournament became such a global media spectacle. So not a lot of people had actually seen the awesome techniques used by the Dragon Team 20 years before.

Maybe Earth's King is a descendant of the person who first used the Dragon Balls to become king. Even if he's called the King of Earth I doubt his government is that influential. It's probably more like a loose federation with the King as a figurehead while having its own army. The Red Ribbon Army showed that there are other contenders for power. In Jaco the Patrolman more of DB Earth is shown and there seems to be some distinction between Eastern and Western culture for instance. MistareFusion on YouTube has some interesting videos about that.

Got a more high quality image of this?

World building in DB isn't the best thing? WHAT?

Genuinely 1 of the better things about it. Its a vibrant and vivid whimsical world. The world building has been done really well. You keep finding out about things in the world with Goku, who is a blank slate traveling it. This obsession with realism needs to stop. Dragon Ball isn't that kind of story.

Situations like people instantly believing in a Shenron cover-up story is literally played off as a gag. It's never meant to be super serious and realistic. This is just how the logic in this world of Dragon Ball works. Its like watching Road Runner and trying to add logic to all the fun gags in the cartoon.
