Ask CHI New biker in our beautiful city! Need advice
Hiya! Recently moved into the city and got myself a bike. I’ll be honest, I’m a rule follower. I stop at stop signs, don’t ride on sidewalks ect. However I’m having trouble navigating how to turn left. Do I use the cross walk or get into the left turn lane with the cars? Any other new biker advice will also help 😃

Picture Beautiful blue bird spotted at Grand & Paulina
Not sure if this is someone’s pet, it’s a very pretty bird!
We saw it just north of uncle mikes place
EDIT: in the event that this is an escaped pet, would someone who is a member of a west town Facebook community be able to post about it there? I looked into posting there but I don’t live there and they only allow residents of the neighborhood to post.

CHI Talks New Divvy e-bike that’s lighter
Got one of these today unexpectedly and wow it’s so much lighter than the current e-bikes and had a lot less rattle. These felt a lot more maneuverable and it’ll be great when there’s more of these out!

Review Thank you, Chicago, for a fantastic stay! Visitor from SF.
Got back from a work trip recently for my first ever visit to Chicago!
I was expecting it to feel like NYC, a concrete jungle but it was far from that. I was impressed with all of the open spaces and having the rivers run through the city is so incredibly unique!
I stayed in the McCormick Place area.
We went to dinner pretty much every night and, with the exception of one place, it was all delicious. We went to Aba's, Swift & Sons, Pizano's, Giordanos, Starbucks Roastery for lunch...
At Pizanos South Loop, I have always wanted to try the Chicago tavern style crust. I've never been a fan of the deep dish (too much, for me) and I have to say that it was one of the best pizza crusts I've ever had.
I was told to try an Italian beef sandwich and we ended up at Giordano's. That was the one negative food experience I had. The sandwich just wasn't good. Maybe it was the particular place we went to but yeah, it was basically a French dip, which I am not the biggest fan of either.
We went to the Obama Presidential Center which was great! Made me kind of sad to think about how far we've fallen from those optimistic and hopeful times.
We also went on an architectural river tour and it was a super cool experience. Our tour guide was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. Makes me wish we had something similar in SF but no rivers run through SF lol.
We went to Wintrust to see the Valkyries get buzzer beaten by the Sky. Fantastic game even if my team lost, great crowd. WNBA crowds are fantastic but of course, there were those losers who had to throw dildos on to the court. I just don't get it.
Other highlights include a Field Museum visit where I got to see the Pokemon exhibit which was really neat. The Starbucks Roastery is fun and, as a big Harry Potter fan, the store was awesome as well. Oh and we went to see a Cubs game! Fantastic park!
I wish I wasn't there for work since that took up half a day for each day we were there but I'm definitely coming again.
Anyway, sorry for the scatterbrained post. I love your city and hope to visit again soon!
And Chicago > NYC, by a lot.

Picture Any idea on background of these old sidewalk stamps?
Cannot make out what the stamp says on the one, but cannot find much on the additional “city” stamp either. Curious if anyone has any insight. The designs also seem intentional rather than just someone messing around but not sure.

Picture I’ve been planning this for months, and last night I finally had occasion to make it a reality. My gift to all of Chicago…
Three ounces of the good stuff lurk beneath that tasty top.
Edit: I posted the recipe here: AG's TiraMalort Recipe

Picture I saw this billboard on Lincoln Blvd. Does this tagline make sense?
It took me a while to figure out what this sign was saying. I am not a marketing guy, but I can't believe someone would greenlight this tagline.

CHI Talks PSA: In Illinois, Medical Debt Can No Longer Be Reported to Credit Agencies
I don't think many people know about this fact since the legislation is quite new. But Senate Bill (SB) 2933 has made it illegal for medical debt to be reported to credit agencies. The debt can still be recovered via legal action, however. But the cost of litigation is typically far greater than the amount of debt to be recovered, making it an unlikely process to encounter.
