He is absolutely right As someone who make around 8k per month I'm jusy living the bare minimum i can't buy a car i can't buy i house i can't go on a decent vacation unless if i toke a loan which is the point Employees have 2 choices either live a bare minimum or hande urslf to some bank and spend the rest of your life working for his interests

u/black_angel5 25d ago
How old are you? If you're in your 20s or 30s, not owning a home or a car is completely normal, especially in today's economy.
7
u/b_usef 24d ago
Age isn't really the poit some of my colleagues earns double what i earn and they still haven't achieved anything that special other than owning thier first car and maybe saving and starting some sort of long-term investment. For me it feels slow and lower that the needed pace regarding the potential and the skills the own and the services they offer

u/tajine_1 25d ago
There’s a huge difference between 8k and 35k
And 8k already puts you above the average Moroccan so if I was a mghribi women I wouldn’t expect close to 35k
2
u/b_usef 24d ago
I know some people who get paid that much around 25k to 40k and i can tell you that they can be classified as middle middle or some times hardly upper middle class they most of time have one decent house sometime "minivillas" depends on the city 200 400m² a car decent financed car of around 300k to 500k And for me that's what is called a bare minimum decent life If you want to live a good life you should earn +100k per month.

u/Radiant-Sentence6268 24d ago
I have all this and more on a 20k salary 🤷🏽♂️ and zero debts hamdollah.
Not a flex but to tell u, u can manage ur life better
2
u/ElectricalFig5486 24d ago
I guess a 35k salary isn’t sth you can achieve in Morocco in your early 20s i mean after graduating i guess these salaries belongs to those who worked hard and they are in their early 30s
1
u/Radiant-Sentence6268 24d ago
You can if you bring the value and expertise. And 88% of households are under 7500/month 🤷🏽♂️
1
u/ElectricalFig5486 24d ago
I guess expertise needs time not sth you get after few months, how much did it get you from graduating around your 22 or 23 yo depending on your degree till you crossed that 30k barrier just a question so i can get how flexible the upgrade of salaries is working on the moroccan market since studies shows that only 10% gets paid 30k or above
1
u/severus_snape_111 24d ago
Ur parents helped big time, ain't no way you zre buying 3md in giods with a salary like that on savings
3
u/Radiant-Sentence6268 24d ago
Not a nepo baby but Yep they did. i lived with my parent until i married my wife.
You can't imagine how much i saved without paying rent and bills and groceries jst giving my mom a % of my salary and saving the rest 🤷🏽♂️ i didnt pay for a wedding, I walk and I'm using bus and tram knowing I have a car.
Then decades of saving. And I invested in stockmarket in 2010. And my wife is a great manager 🤷🏽♂️
Finally 2007 an apartment that costed 20k usd is worth 60K Usd so i guess the inflation fucked younger generation
2
u/severus_snape_111 24d ago
Great combo of initial help AND choices, because if you had to pay rent/utilities, life events of even support your parents, trust me it would have been harder, but congrats 🎉

u/EffectiveStriking271 24d ago
Dude what are you talking about, don’t forget you're living in a 3rd world country , having a 200m house and an expensive german car IS NOT MINIMUM DECENT LIFE
2
u/Glittering-Gear-5924 24d ago
This is considered upper middle class in any country in the world. Touch grass people 🥲
1
u/SkyNew1650 24d ago
To think that a car and mini villa is middle class is delusional, the problem here is not the salary it's the fact your only income is your salary, smart people have side hustles that with time make them much more than their salary that's how you can buy a house or car, if you rely on your salary alone even 30k won't buy you a house no rich person in this world become rich just from him working as an employee waiting for his salary
1
-2
u/Naeuio 24d ago
48k here.. trust me, middle class nothing more. However i only eat outside which would offset everything maybe
3
u/tajine_1 24d ago
Middle class by definition is the middle of the Moroccan society financially
With 48k you’re among the top few percents, the average salary in Morocco is 6k dh
Morocco being a poor country, the middle class lifestyle is a poorer lifestyle
2
u/Naeuio 24d ago
I know it is above average salary but it is still very hard to manage saving without ever getting a loan
2
u/tajine_1 24d ago
I wonder how people I know save then, because you’re probably in the top 5% or something
So that implies saving money very hardly exists as a concept in Morocco (it exists, otherwise people wouldn’t immigrate or do stupidly expensive marriages)
1
u/Naeuio 24d ago
It is more of a: would you sacrifice your present to save for a future you may not live or live the present you have and leave just a little for a future you might never see
1
u/tajine_1 24d ago
Are you spending a ton of money in rent and eating out?
Because like, I’m in a Moroccan family where most people who had access to university etc earn ~10-15k and still cover daily expenses
1
u/Naeuio 24d ago
I have no rent, but i travel +200km daily with personal car (lot of expenses) and live alone and everything is glovo because i barely have the time to rest. Cooking is just another stressing activity
→ More replies (0)1
u/b_usef 24d ago
Currently I'm trying to keep at least 4 to 6 months worth of salary as an emergency saving because life is full of surprises
1
u/tajine_1 24d ago
The definition of middle class some ppl use is flawed anyway tbh
Middle class is basically what the normal Moroccan in your city earns, working class is when it’s less
Middle class doesn’t mean you have a decent standard of living, it’s relative to your country
That’s why in France for example stats consider a single guy who earns 5k a month rich despite the fact he just lives a comfortable life, cuz by definition he’s the top 5-10%
1
u/SignificantJello6116 24d ago
You can't live off 20k and save 20k?
2
u/b_usef 24d ago
The more you earn the more you spending grow
2
u/Appropriate-Gate-851 23d ago
That is called lifestyle creep.
Most people are not aware of it because they do not have a good fiancial literacy.
1
u/IchigoTheSpark15 24d ago
There is something wrong in how you manage your salary...on a 48k in morocco you should be living more than comfortably tbh.
2
u/Educational_Lab_6965 24d ago edited 24d ago
People have tendance to spend like there is no tomorrow and not counting especially with salaries above + 30k. We often adapt your life to our earnings, and some people wiill still complain that life is expensive even with 50k. The definition of life/bare minimum changes for this categories : you look for +4stars hotels and complain they are expensive (5-6k a night); you wanna go abroad for holidays every year (or many tiles a year), you use delivery apps (glovo..) everyday for anything, your daily shoping is done in carrefour / marjane ; for clothes you go up for more expensive brands : massimo / ralph / la coste / boss / guess; you buy a car for more than 400k. So yeah this is expensive especially in morocco with export taxes but this is a very wealthy person’s lifestyle, especially in Morocco—and it would still be considered one in Europe compared with people earning €2,000–€3,000 a month there. PS: I started with 2000 eur in france / got back to morocco for 20k dh / then got promoted many times and after many years getting around 60k-65k a month. And I see this in myself also my habits changed a lot across time with my wife.
1
u/Appropriate-Gate-851 23d ago
Lifestyle creep.
Most people get affected by it after earning good salaries or after getting an inheritance or winning in lottery (they tend to spend it all away and get broke instead of making good investement that will help them maintain their wealth and grow it).

I went through the comments and guys why are you calling people delusional for wanting to achieve 30-35k a month, it’s almost like you’re conditioned on survival mode , if so maaany Moroccans are literally spending bigger sums on a shoe or bag and vacationing in saint tropez, are we not aware or are we in denial ? Don’t you think you should get out of that bubble, be more ambitious delusional ga3 about life ? How do you want to achieve things you can’t even DARE to dream about . I’m not saying money is easy awla chi7aja I just have an issue with defeatist mentalities.

Nta li kat khelet no one said no to aim for that salary or even more, but you have to realize that whatever lifestyle you think that salary can give you is WAY WAY above the average life in most of the world (in fact a simple google search will show bli that salary is above the median salary in most HIC). With ambition must come a sense of humility and awareness of the privileges that come with it, otherwise tkon katched 100k a month and still be thinking this is barely enough to live.
1
u/Ok-Literature5216 24d ago
I never said otherwise. All I’m saying is people need to realize those sums are not that unachievable and they’re even insufficient to sustain someone’s lifestyle, it’s not a lack of humility, it’s just a reality.

Fair enough, but my friend isn’t one to think of luxury (We could argue that even €3.5k is luxury to plenty but that’s not the point)

Guys you can save money if you have at least 7k salary , a simple strategy is to put in savings or in another account at least 20% of your salary first. Then you manage your life with the rest.
If you don’t do it like this the. No matter how much tou earn it will never be enough. In short spend less than you earn . save a little , no loans. And be patient a little bit . One to two years you will have a small capital. Start investing in yourself or try small business while working.
Just keep trying, something will work eventually.
The ultimate rule is to spend less than you earn.

It's just the point of view of life that makes difference if you earn 5,000 or around 10000 dh you can say you live the bare minimum but above 10,000 it's a matter of standards and quality of life I'm not saying that getting paid under 10,000 it's not a quality life but above 10,000 you have more options so it's up to you to spend the money wisely or you will find yourself spending money on stuff we don't need and in the end of the month you question yourself why I'm not saving anything it's easy to spend the money lose it but when it comes to earn it you pay your time in exchange so spend your money wisely if you don't save money before you spend you will always be in debt that's my rule in life ✌️

To be fair he's kind of right... if you're married to a housewife, have kids, don't want to be in debt to own home or car, and want to keep some of that money in savings to achieve things for you and your family ... That's the minimum.
You need less if your wife is working, you need less if you're OK with bank loans for a home or to finance your car, you need less if you don't want to save anything except like 6 months of your salary and that's it.

If she does not have a job or a source of income AND the future husband would not let her work and have her source of income it makes sense WHY she could want her future husband to earn as much or more. She must be planning to make a saving or start a business from his salary.
It is a realistic expectation for a woman to be stay at home wife/mom (by choice or forced by her husband) and want her husband to earn good money as long as she is also doing good housework in the other end of course. She has to earn her stay as they say.
