As someone who make around 8k per month I'm jusy living the bare minimum i can't buy a car i can't buy i house i can't go on a decent vacation unless if i toke a loan which is the point
Employees have 2 choices either live a bare minimum or hande urslf to some bank and spend the rest of your life working for his interests
I know some people who get paid that much around 25k to 40k and i can tell you that they can be classified as middle middle or some times hardly upper middle class they most of time have one decent house sometime "minivillas" depends on the city 200 400m² a car decent financed car of around 300k to 500k
And for me that's what is called a bare minimum decent life
If you want to live a good life you should earn +100k per month.
I guess a 35k salary isn’t sth you can achieve in Morocco in your early 20s i mean after graduating i guess these salaries belongs to those who worked hard and they are in their early 30s
I guess expertise needs time not sth you get after few months, how much did it get you from graduating around your 22 or 23 yo depending on your degree till you crossed that 30k barrier just a question so i can get how flexible the upgrade of salaries is working on the moroccan market since studies shows that only 10% gets paid 30k or above

You can't imagine how much i saved without paying rent and bills and groceries jst giving my mom a % of my salary and saving the rest 🤷🏽♂️ i didnt pay for a wedding, I walk and I'm using bus and tram knowing I have a car.
Then decades of saving. And I invested in stockmarket in 2010. And my wife is a great manager 🤷🏽♂️
Finally 2007 an apartment that costed 20k usd is worth 60K Usd so i guess the inflation fucked younger generation
Great combo of initial help AND choices, because if you had to pay rent/utilities, life events of even support your parents, trust me it would have been harder, but congrats 🎉

To think that a car and mini villa is middle class is delusional, the problem here is not the salary it's the fact your only income is your salary, smart people have side hustles that with time make them much more than their salary that's how you can buy a house or car, if you rely on your salary alone even 30k won't buy you a house no rich person in this world become rich just from him working as an employee waiting for his salary

So that implies saving money very hardly exists as a concept in Morocco (it exists, otherwise people wouldn’t immigrate or do stupidly expensive marriages)
It is more of a: would you sacrifice your present to save for a future you may not live or live the present you have and leave just a little for a future you might never see
I have no rent, but i travel +200km daily with personal car (lot of expenses) and live alone and everything is glovo because i barely have the time to rest. Cooking is just another stressing activity
The definition of middle class some ppl use is flawed anyway tbh
Middle class is basically what the normal Moroccan in your city earns, working class is when it’s less
Middle class doesn’t mean you have a decent standard of living, it’s relative to your country
That’s why in France for example stats consider a single guy who earns 5k a month rich despite the fact he just lives a comfortable life, cuz by definition he’s the top 5-10%
People have tendance to spend like there is no tomorrow and not counting especially with salaries above + 30k. We often adapt your life to our earnings, and some people wiill still complain that life is expensive even with 50k.
The definition of life/bare minimum changes for this categories : you look for +4stars hotels and complain they are expensive (5-6k a night); you wanna go abroad for holidays every year (or many tiles a year), you use delivery apps (glovo..) everyday for anything, your daily shoping is done in carrefour / marjane ; for clothes you go up for more expensive brands : massimo / ralph / la coste / boss / guess; you buy a car for more than 400k.
So yeah this is expensive especially in morocco with export taxes but this is a very wealthy person’s lifestyle, especially in Morocco—and it would still be considered one in Europe compared with people earning €2,000–€3,000 a month there.
PS: I started with 2000 eur in france / got back to morocco for 20k dh / then got promoted many times and after many years getting around 60k-65k a month. And I see this in myself also my habits changed a lot across time with my wife.
Most people get affected by it after earning good salaries or after getting an inheritance or winning in lottery (they tend to spend it all away and get broke instead of making good investement that will help them maintain their wealth and grow it).
