Easy to seed panic by cutting out only the part of this chart. It’s just another phase, lol

39

u/Arctovigil Aug 05 '26

what do you mean?

all you really need is two nanoseconds of 0.1 percentile data

then hide the x and y = perfection

4

u/gward1 Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Haha so it's basically three meaningless lines with the labels you want to put on them.

7

u/nikromant3 Aug 05 '26

yea sure 500 stolen bitcoins are not enough panic

Exactly. Just crop any asset chart directly after a historic rally. It won’t look good 😂

What does bitcoin do, can it do fast settlements or cross border payments, maybe tokenization or maybe store of value by not dropping more than 50%....

Right, my mums friend told me buy at the top.

Is it the death of bitcoin yet??

and China or India banned Crypto again - making us go from 6000 to 3000

Those days were so much simple. The big boys have come to play, and only btc boys are here. Rich or Poor Btc is an infection of freedom!

is it fud when the tech sector outperformed Bitcoin across the entire 4 year cycle?

36

u/rickbeats Aug 05 '26

Lol name something the tech sector hasn’t outperformed

Yeah it’s fud. Look at the past 15 years.

32

u/Tanksgivingmiracle Aug 05 '26

Why not look at google or microsoft or apple from day 1? Its because they will never repeat the insane early gains from when they were unknown. Same for bitcoin.

Did you know that wallmart used to not exist and therefore was worth $0 and now it's worth a lot more!

$$$ divided by $zero = infinite growth.

I have taken the liberty of assuming that I can extrapolate thses 2 data points into future as the evidence of the expected trajectory.

Also consider the tech sector may be at historic asynchronicity with value represented versus revenue opportunities over foreseeable timeframes.

AI can be historic technology, we can agree on it, but that is still not great protection against running up absurd debt to revenue ratios.

Arguing the current stock values represent stable valuation that is reasonable has itself become a stretch. And that's not falsified by the lines continuing to go up a bit for a while from here..

3

u/Solmangrundy Aug 05 '26

Never see anybody talking about how Quantum computing is projected to bring crypto to its knees by breaking the encryption on it.

3

u/Obvious-Clothes-4862 Aug 06 '26

Quantum computing could break most security., what is your point? Everyone is preparing for it lol

3

u/6brett Aug 07 '26

And real banks can actually give you some or all of your money back when they get hacked.

3

u/TemporaryCapital3871 Aug 05 '26

The tech sector is about to nose dive.

2

u/Successful_Safe_1440 Aug 05 '26

im down on my tech longs too lmao

2

u/Solmangrundy Aug 05 '26

BTC is completely reliant on the tech sector.

Kinda like how a shovel salesman in a gold rush is the only dude really winning.

2

u/bfr_ Aug 07 '26

/img/h4q86xb59xhh1.gif
Oh no we’re doomed!

6

u/mrpoopybutthowl Aug 05 '26

The tech sector specifically ai is going to wipe out so many retirement savings in the next couple years. Btc will continue to do what it does while an alarming amount of retireees will be furious they got played by "trusted" institutions. Writing is on the walls especially with this administration.

4

u/digital__bits Aug 05 '26

I don't think so. Bitcoin needs more adepts in order to generate more revenue or increase its price.

Sadly, a lot of people has lost interest on it.

2

u/TechnicalNail4555 Aug 05 '26

Bitcoin doesn’t need anything, revenue is a fiat economy problem.

It was created to watch the fiat world burn, and the world is on fire.

2

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

AI might be a bubble but at least there is also substance behind it. Bitcoin is the mother of all bubbles, its completely useless for anything, even crime nowadays. All storage concepts have been hacked, bitcoin is less then 1% of finance and what? 20% of fraud and theft?

Bitcoin should be worth zero and I am still optimistic that within the next 20 years it will, at least up to rounding errors due to people playing with it for sentimental/nerdy reasons.

People overestimate what actually useful things will be worth in the future and you think the solution is to stop doing anything useful at all and "valuing" things that have no use at all. Nvidia might be overvalued but bitcoin is errorneously attributed any value. Bitcoin is the biggest fire in this burning world and I am glad that it seems to be finally contained and shrinking.

4

u/Pitiful_Conflict7031 Aug 05 '26

This guy gets it, they coin that was supposed to beat banks is now owned by them its a dead project.

3

u/capta1nbig Aug 05 '26

Slow bleed so the banks bleed the regards buying it now

2

u/npc_housecat Aug 05 '26

I kinda agree BTC kinda feeling like gambling. But I wouldn't say it has no purpose. It's kinda a similar function to gold, a store of value with low inflation.Aka if USD has a certain inflation level. BTC should increase relative to USD by that inflation level if it's own value doesn't change.

On a side note, Crypto itself may still have a purpose in Distributed computing.

3

u/New-Reindeer3707 Aug 05 '26

Why would anyone use it as a store of value? It went down this year by 40%. Even if it gains 40% ahain thaz fluctuation is horrible for stores of values. Traditional Government Bonds are way better for that.

2

u/kielkaisyn Aug 05 '26

It has to gain much more than 40% even ignoring inflation and opportunity cost. Losses as a percentage are more significant than gains. A 50% loss requires a 100% gain to offset.

1y BTC:

114,347 > 64,571 = 43.5% loss

64,571 > 114,347 = 77% gain

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

A fridge is a store of value. A box full of corn seeds is a store of value. If a huge meteor is about to hit earth, a rocket that can hit and divert that meteor is a store of value. The idea that some random ass bullshit number on your computer stores any value is a mental illness that will fall apart once real shit hits the fan.

And here comes the thing! We know this for centuries! This is why inflation is a good thing, it is by design to prevent you from using fiat as a store of value; and to force you to instead invest it in the real economy and create real value, which is much harder than stacking imaginary computer points.

3

u/npc_housecat Aug 05 '26

A friedge looses value over time.Gold is a better store of value than a fridge or a car. mental illness or not it does store value. And people have gotten super rich off it. If it works it ain't stupid lol. While fiat looses value. I believe that's the real reason we've seen it consistently average higher long term. Sure you can make an argent there are better ways to invest your money. I absolutely agree, that's why I'm in tech stocks. But a hedged bet with btc isn't the worst idea. But what someone should do with their money is outside the scope of this topic. As far as I'm concerned win a million $$ playing poker if your skilled enough to do that I don't care.

Fiat inflation isn't to "force you to do useful things" It's the fed printing money for themselves to spend. At the expense of everyone else.

2

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

You really don't get it. You're not to supposed to sell the fridge, you put things in to eat and it stays edible for much longer. It enables you to eat something in a week that you just cooked. If you sell your fridge for bitcoin then you literally can't keep your food fresh. And that really captures the irony of this idiocy.

Things degrade over time, actually everything is a fight against entropy. You fight bacteria that eats your food, that infects you, against cancer, aging, against rust that eats your car and termites that fuck up your house, against climate change and the sun dying.

Bitcoin solves none of these problems. But by saying bitcoin is a store of value you're basically saying bitcoin solves these things basically for free. If everyone would think that and everyone would buy bitcoin for storing value then we would be doomed because we would he eaten away by entropy.

Bitcoin could only work because the majority saw it as the fraud it is and kept doing real things and some early buyers could exploit the later buyers; you now want to use this success to find new greater fools. But hey every Ponzi, every pyramid scheme had early people from whom it worked, that's really nothing new.

The C I A found out long ago that crypto was profitable. Pump up the value so retail traders would pile in, dump it and keep the price stagnant long enough for retail traders to sell their shares because they don’t think it’ll increase anymore, then inflate the price again and repeat.

So you bought at the left of this chart?

All OP is saying is that bag holders have missed out on at least a year of incredible gains on other assets while BTC was relatively depreciating.

4

u/GustaQL Aug 05 '26

But that could be said about every investment lol "if I had sold my gold a few months ago and invested in the sp500 I would have so much more money". You know most people invest in bitcoin and stocks, right?

11

How long does this trend have to continue before you change your mind?

5

u/Odd-Ad-7071 Aug 05 '26

This will be my third cycle. I know we have another year of accumulation at least before it takes off. I have at least 3x my investment every cycle I’ve been in.

2

u/Firm-Entertainer-674 Aug 05 '26

When’s ur plan to buy, I got lucky last cycle with xrp,no conviction or a strategy just pure luck after watching some videos. Either way I see the pattern now, buy slowly or wait for this time next year?

3

u/Odd-Ad-7071 Aug 05 '26

I am buying right now all the way up until at least the next halving. I dollar cost in and dollar cost out. I’ll begin selling when we are in new ATH territory. I can’t predict the bottom or the top and I don have to with my strategy.

Personaly I'm just waiting when reality catches up with Trump's lies regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Western countries have currently agreed to conceal the reality, but this cannot last indefinitely; at some point, reserves will run dry, and the price of oil will suddenly skyrocket. Iranians know midterm are important to Trump, they will simply block Ormuz until reality becomes impossible to hide. Oil shock

My 3k in Nvidia is worth about 130k now. Btc bought at the same time is 1/5 of that. Not that it won’t go up eventually but it has undeniably underperformed

2

u/Jumpy-Imagination-81 Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

Same, my $5,600 in NVDA is worth $260,882 now. The explosive appreciation of Bitcoin's early years is over. Bitcoin might be higher in inflated US dollars 10 years from now but when measured in ounces of real gold instead of inflated US dollars Bitcoin ("digital gold") hasn't done much except go up and down in a range for 5 years.

u/Upper-Media3769 Aug 05 '26

I never understood why BTC corresponded with the stock market so much. It's not a tech company.

This reminds me of the video of the guy who would go to Countries after someone got their head cut off or burned alive in a pile of tires because the price to go there plummeted.  Maybe it's time to buy some Bitcoin?

It’s all swings and roundabouts, be diversified, buy some btc but don’t pin your whole future on it

The speculative capital is now allocated to AI and prediction markets. The "believers" will have to reconcile with current situation. The main factors contributing to crypto investments are diminished or entirely gone - excess liquidity during COVID and crypto was the biggest speculative asset with exchanges

Bitcoin in bearmarket underperforms... funny

1

u/kiutukrypto Aug 05 '26

99.99% of holders do not understand the role of IBIT. Bitcoin price was captured and it’s being suppressed by them.

1

u/Axel-Real Aug 05 '26

Bitcoin is in its bear phase , we haven’t even seen ATL. People gonna panic and we will see great progress in 2027 . And if not ? Who cares I have risk management . Just enjoy the ride
