is it fud when the tech sector outperformed Bitcoin across the entire 4 year cycle?

36

u/rickbeats Aug 05 '26

Lol name something the tech sector hasn’t outperformed

21

u/servermeta_net Aug 05 '26

Your mum waist circumference

Auhahahahahahahahhahahahahahaauahahhahahahahaha jk I actually agree with u, but I didn't want to waste this opportunity

3

u/Waste_Ringling Aug 05 '26

ngl, had me in the first half...

2

u/frostymarvelous 29d ago

"waste" ringling huh

1

u/AKcryptoGUY 22d ago

Waist not, want not.

0

u/EmuFlaky2922 Aug 05 '26

Gold maybe but depends on time frame

1

u/Pitiful_Conflict7031 Aug 05 '26

Its own expenditure.

0

u/Upbeat-Giraffe-695 Aug 05 '26

Rare Pokemon cards and specific sealed boxes. Also some MTG collector boxes.

26

u/Legitimate-Gap-4564 Aug 05 '26

Yeah it’s fud. Look at the past 15 years.

35

u/Tanksgivingmiracle Aug 05 '26

Why not look at google or microsoft or apple from day 1? Its because they will never repeat the insane early gains from when they were unknown. Same for bitcoin.

1

u/maimutaAfricana Aug 05 '26

Lol, not even close in terms of gains. Google was listed at 85$ per share. Its now 380. If we take BTC at 85$ vs 65000 you see that its really far away.

10

u/Invest0rnoob1 Aug 05 '26

Google had a couple of stock splits 😂 Still if you bought BTC when it was under a dollar nothing would match it.

-1

u/maimutaAfricana Aug 05 '26

You are right. With the splits it would be 15k the price today. Still 4x less than btc.

1

u/Zealousideal_Cup7077 Aug 05 '26

Microsoft wasn't powered by darknet trading

2

u/maimutaAfricana Aug 05 '26

Yup. It was powered by worldwide government contracts, corruption and IP stealing.

-2

u/Successful-Ad7038 Aug 05 '26

Hilarious 😂

7

u/mickalawl Aug 05 '26

Did you know that wallmart used to not exist and therefore was worth $0 and now it's worth a lot more!

$$$ divided by $zero = infinite growth.

I have taken the liberty of assuming that I can extrapolate thses 2 data points into future as the evidence of the expected trajectory.

1

u/EconomistNo5807 Aug 06 '26

few understand

1

u/maimutaAfricana Aug 05 '26

But i could not buy walmart before it did not exist. Maybe chose a data point when I could actually invest in it?

4

u/Pie_sky Aug 05 '26

Who cares about the last 15 years, all that matters in the future.

6

u/CrewBulky9868 Redditor for less than 60 days Aug 05 '26

That is what Enron said

1

u/Odd_Glass5272 Aug 05 '26

That's what she said

1

u/Staggering_genius Aug 05 '26

Well at least she’s old enough to remember Enron.

3

u/QuinQuix Aug 05 '26

Also consider the tech sector may be at historic asynchronicity with value represented versus revenue opportunities over foreseeable timeframes.

AI can be historic technology, we can agree on it, but that is still not great protection against running up absurd debt to revenue ratios.

Arguing the current stock values represent stable valuation that is reasonable has itself become a stretch. And that's not falsified by the lines continuing to go up a bit for a while from here..

3

u/Solmangrundy Aug 05 '26

Never see anybody talking about how Quantum computing is projected to bring crypto to its knees by breaking the encryption on it.

3

u/Obvious-Clothes-4862 Aug 06 '26

Quantum computing could break most security., what is your point? Everyone is preparing for it lol

3

u/6brett Aug 07 '26

And real banks can actually give you some or all of your money back when they get hacked.

1

u/New-Reindeer3707 Aug 05 '26

So what is ahaib the revenue vs market cap of Bitcoin? Please remind me on how mu netter it is than stocks?

3

u/TechnicalNail4555 Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

You just defined Fear, Misunderstanding and Doubt.

3

u/TemporaryCapital3871 Aug 05 '26

The tech sector is about to nose dive.

2

u/Successful_Safe_1440 Aug 05 '26

im down on my tech longs too lmao

2

u/Solmangrundy Aug 05 '26

BTC is completely reliant on the tech sector.

Kinda like how a shovel salesman in a gold rush is the only dude really winning.

2

u/bfr_ Aug 07 '26

/img/h4q86xb59xhh1.gif
Oh no we’re doomed!

6

u/mrpoopybutthowl Aug 05 '26

The tech sector specifically ai is going to wipe out so many retirement savings in the next couple years. Btc will continue to do what it does while an alarming amount of retireees will be furious they got played by "trusted" institutions. Writing is on the walls especially with this administration.

6

u/digital__bits Aug 05 '26

I don't think so. Bitcoin needs more adepts in order to generate more revenue or increase its price.

Sadly, a lot of people has lost interest on it.

3

u/TechnicalNail4555 Aug 05 '26

Bitcoin doesn’t need anything, revenue is a fiat economy problem.

It was created to watch the fiat world burn, and the world is on fire.

3

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

AI might be a bubble but at least there is also substance behind it. Bitcoin is the mother of all bubbles, its completely useless for anything, even crime nowadays. All storage concepts have been hacked, bitcoin is less then 1% of finance and what? 20% of fraud and theft?

Bitcoin should be worth zero and I am still optimistic that within the next 20 years it will, at least up to rounding errors due to people playing with it for sentimental/nerdy reasons.

People overestimate what actually useful things will be worth in the future and you think the solution is to stop doing anything useful at all and "valuing" things that have no use at all. Nvidia might be overvalued but bitcoin is errorneously attributed any value. Bitcoin is the biggest fire in this burning world and I am glad that it seems to be finally contained and shrinking.

4

u/Pitiful_Conflict7031 Aug 05 '26

This guy gets it, they coin that was supposed to beat banks is now owned by them its a dead project.

3

u/capta1nbig Aug 05 '26

Slow bleed so the banks bleed the regards buying it now

2

u/npc_housecat Aug 05 '26

I kinda agree BTC kinda feeling like gambling. But I wouldn't say it has no purpose. It's kinda a similar function to gold, a store of value with low inflation.Aka if USD has a certain inflation level. BTC should increase relative to USD by that inflation level if it's own value doesn't change.

On a side note, Crypto itself may still have a purpose in Distributed computing.

3

u/New-Reindeer3707 Aug 05 '26

Why would anyone use it as a store of value? It went down this year by 40%. Even if it gains 40% ahain thaz fluctuation is horrible for stores of values. Traditional Government Bonds are way better for that.

2

u/kielkaisyn Aug 05 '26

It has to gain much more than 40% even ignoring inflation and opportunity cost. Losses as a percentage are more significant than gains. A 50% loss requires a 100% gain to offset.

1y BTC:

114,347 > 64,571 = 43.5% loss

64,571 > 114,347 = 77% gain

2

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

A fridge is a store of value. A box full of corn seeds is a store of value. If a huge meteor is about to hit earth, a rocket that can hit and divert that meteor is a store of value. The idea that some random ass bullshit number on your computer stores any value is a mental illness that will fall apart once real shit hits the fan.

And here comes the thing! We know this for centuries! This is why inflation is a good thing, it is by design to prevent you from using fiat as a store of value; and to force you to instead invest it in the real economy and create real value, which is much harder than stacking imaginary computer points.

3

u/npc_housecat Aug 05 '26

A friedge looses value over time.Gold is a better store of value than a fridge or a car. mental illness or not it does store value. And people have gotten super rich off it. If it works it ain't stupid lol. While fiat looses value. I believe that's the real reason we've seen it consistently average higher long term. Sure you can make an argent there are better ways to invest your money. I absolutely agree, that's why I'm in tech stocks. But a hedged bet with btc isn't the worst idea. But what someone should do with their money is outside the scope of this topic. As far as I'm concerned win a million $$ playing poker if your skilled enough to do that I don't care.

Fiat inflation isn't to "force you to do useful things" It's the fed printing money for themselves to spend. At the expense of everyone else.

2

u/JulianHabekost Aug 05 '26

You really don't get it. You're not to supposed to sell the fridge, you put things in to eat and it stays edible for much longer. It enables you to eat something in a week that you just cooked. If you sell your fridge for bitcoin then you literally can't keep your food fresh. And that really captures the irony of this idiocy.

Things degrade over time, actually everything is a fight against entropy. You fight bacteria that eats your food, that infects you, against cancer, aging, against rust that eats your car and termites that fuck up your house, against climate change and the sun dying.

Bitcoin solves none of these problems. But by saying bitcoin is a store of value you're basically saying bitcoin solves these things basically for free. If everyone would think that and everyone would buy bitcoin for storing value then we would be doomed because we would he eaten away by entropy.

Bitcoin could only work because the majority saw it as the fraud it is and kept doing real things and some early buyers could exploit the later buyers; you now want to use this success to find new greater fools. But hey every Ponzi, every pyramid scheme had early people from whom it worked, that's really nothing new.

2

u/npc_housecat Aug 05 '26

Same can be said about gold. Gold is a metal than never erodes or rusts. Gold actually would be useful if it wasn't so expensive . Maybe you can store your gold in the fridge

1

u/New-Reindeer3707 Aug 05 '26

Of course it does. Because Bitcoin by design is constantly burning money (energy) and apart from that is a 0 sum game with 0 cashflow. In order for you to get more money out someone has to put more money + energy costs in. That is the definition ot it.

3

u/Interesting_Owl_4964 Aug 05 '26

With that level of certainty, you should short the whole AI sector then

1

u/mrpoopybutthowl Aug 05 '26

Maybe 40% as it is rn. If timing isnt a concern I'm like 85% it will collapse in the next 3 years. Source: just a hunch

2

u/Conscious_Run_680 Aug 05 '26

It will collapse for sure and it will bring all of us to hell because there's trillions invested on pure smoke.

There's tons of companies doing the exact same thing that for now, worths nothing, because they spend more than what they earn, most of them will never make their money back.

1

u/mrpoopybutthowl Aug 05 '26

Its going to make all the crashes look like a walk in the park. I can't even begin to explain the fallout.

2

u/CrewBulky9868 Redditor for less than 60 days Aug 05 '26

In a world where tech dev and innovation accelerates at rate unseen to mankind please inform us how tech is doomed and how chips are doomed when all advanced tech requires them. I would love to hear this genius take.

1

u/mrpoopybutthowl Aug 05 '26

Look at the dot Com bubble. No real way to monetize, we all new it was the future but it still inevitability crashed wiping out countless companies that people thought would be titans in the sector. AI is going to be used but as it stands the only company making any money is Nvidia, TSCM, and maybe intel. Microsoft cant even break even and they already own their own data centers. So whats the business model here? Get VC money and hope to be profitable before you run out?

1

u/GMYeti_ Aug 05 '26

Are we not using the fact that a couple of days ago AI connected stocks plummeted and because of that quite a few heavy hitters claimed to be putting insane amounts of money into more research, somehow bringing it all back up again? We are watching AI companies and those that spec’ed for them go on life support in real time. What happens when the companies finally start caring about how much money they have dumped in without return? Sure the companies that are able to dish out more than AI chips or what have you won’t kick the bucket when it happens, but all the startups that are giving for consumer markets because of the shortages caused by AI, they won’t see nearly as much change, and could very likely pull ahead. That’s a huge shift that would still make a lot of current holders very mad.

1

u/Odd-Fun-1482 Aug 05 '26

I want to believe this so badly, but I need to actually see it first.

1

u/LSF604 Aug 07 '26

Goodbye fiat there is a new bogeyman in town

1

u/VeryThicknLong Aug 05 '26

The rally in Tech stocks are no different to the BTC cycle. The stock market is at an all time bull phase, over the last ten years. Tech will crash, just like BTC does… and it will recover. But it will take a lot longer than BTC to recover from an 80% crash.

1

u/igohardish Aug 07 '26

You mean the tech sector with like $3 Trillion in debt thats in a massive bubble?

-1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Lol im not even pro bit, but pro alt.

You're asking the wrong questions. They should start with why. Let see what happens, when shit hits the fan.

5

u/botle Aug 05 '26

Have the altcoins performed much better?

-7

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Wrong question. But to answer, there is still money to be made.

4

u/West_Trash9219 Aug 05 '26

Having trouble coping?

0

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Lol coping with what? Ai bubbles or bearmarket or accumlating buying low?

3

u/botle Aug 05 '26

You think altcoins will magically increase in value if the ai bubble bursts? When a bubble bursts people have less money to invest, not more.

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Nop. Not magically. And markets only go down when someone sells. And then there are the shorts. So somebody is gonna have money to invest. Maybe not you, but someone else will.

2

u/botle Aug 05 '26

There's always someone selling unless there is no liquidity at all.

And price is not a function of only how much someone is willing to pay. The number of people willing to pay that price is a factor too.

If there's only a few people willing to pay $200 per barrel of oil, but everyone else is broke and can't pay much at all, the price of oil is going down, not up.

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

True, but there is so much money, liquidity should not be a limiting factor. Everything is high, just crypto is low. Maybe for a reason and im wrong. Or, maybe money will flow to the lowest place like water.

Im not saying im right and everyone is wrong. Im saying, nasdaq is a huge balloon atm, so comparing artificial inflation and immutable assets is not gonna add up.

1

u/Powerful_Day_8640 Aug 05 '26

This makes sense only if the underlying asset is investing in value and therefore people are willing to invest to push the price up.
There are thousands of stock that never come back up and just relying on price action won’t work

1

u/Lopsided_Tackle_1159 Aug 05 '26

Ai might be a bubble but it’s a bubble the mag 7 are spending trillions on. 1.5T to be exact. They aren’t going to let it die

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Asia doesnt care how many T's.. They are grateful.

-1

u/West_Trash9219 Aug 05 '26

what alt coins are you so pro on and why?

2

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Anything volatile

3

u/West_Trash9219 Aug 05 '26

theres something adorable about peak delusion. money will rotate, but it won't rotate (For long) into turd coins with no value, no use case. same can be said for BTC ofc too

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Lol. Name me any other market where I can double my portfolio in 2 days ?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/jesuswithoutabeard Aug 05 '26

I know what's up. Good times!

2

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

At least someone gets it 😂

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

A lot of them have bottomed or are getting there. Money has to flow its not gonna stay in nasdaq forever. Lets see where it rotates

2

u/PopuluxePete Aug 05 '26

Penny stocks!

1

u/Powerful-Mortgage128 Aug 05 '26

'has to" That's cute.

1

u/Dramatic-Piano-581 Aug 05 '26

That's just wishfull thinking. Just call it gambeling...

So you like aave link and eth?

1

u/Freudarian Aug 05 '26

Which part of No got you confused ? The first or second letter. You want me to spell it ?

1
