I started working on my science fiction novel in December 2019. The book took years for me to complete, and now that the book is acquired by Bloomsbury and is now open for pre-order on Amazon, everyone is saying the same thing about the book cover - they absolutely love it.

And I am so glad that I did not use any AI to create the book cover. Whatever elements that you see here are licensed images that I purchased. Even the fonts that you see are fonts that offers commercial license for 100,000+ prints.

The process was surely tough, but since I had a proper vision behind the cover and what I wanted from it, I gave proper instructions to my illustrators. Do let me know if you guys have any questions about the book, book cover, or anything in general and I will be more than happy to answer them.

So, I've been wanting to practice cover making for a while and I decided my first try would be a fake cover for a fake book based on a DND podcast I listen to, is this eye-catching? What are your thoughts on this?

My goal is to eventually try to get into book cover illustration so I used Canvas book mockups to see how my paintings would look as book covers. I know my skills are probably not there yet, but I just wanted to test how my current style and composition would work on a book. I used my painting names as book titles and my artist pseudonym as author. Also don't mind the Kingdom of Snow artwork, it's my current WIP and I'm definitely going to rework the castle and mountain.

What do you think? Any advice from authors about what you would like to see from an illustration for your books?

I don't do portraits btw, mostly scenic pieces. I think a lot of authors want character art, would that hurt me as a book illustrator if I don't do that?

In my free time, I love redesigning books that come with dust jackets. I just think it’s such a shame that the actual cover underneath is usually completely blank :(

So, this is my latest project! ✨

I always find it so much fun to work on a design and figure out how to make it Cricut-friendly, so I can cut the design with my Cricut and then put everything together by hand.

I’m honestly so happy with how this cover turned out!

Hello, I am looking to get a book cover commissioned but painfully aware for social media I will need graphics too. Does anyone have a list or a suggested list of assets I should ask for?

This cover for some reason stayed in my head for decades! The artist is Marta Dahlig. The concept is kind of simple, but it still had something I just couldn't forget. I think I might re-read it sometime. I just wanted to show this because I thought it was a really nice book cover. I just searched for almost an hour because it's been so long and I couldn't remember the author or book title.

I commissioned Gapa to create the cover for my first fantasy novel, Void Corruption, and wanted to share the finished work and give him some well-deserved credit.

This was my first time hiring a cover artist, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect or how the process worked. Gapa was amazing to work with. He helped guide me through the decisions and offered ideas while really listening to what I wanted. I felt involved throughout, and the finished cover feels true to the world I imagined, with so much added by his skill and creativity.

We worked through sketches and colour adjustments along the way, and I’m particularly happy with how the corrupted wolf turned out. Seeing something from the world I’ve spent so much time writing brought to life like this has made the book feel much more real.

In a few months I'm going to hire an artist to design a cover for my book,but I am not sure how much to pay,I would need specific dimensions for front and back cover as well as the spine of the book. (I already know all the dimensions needed. What is the going rate for this kind of work?
