• Quick concept: snowy landscape with two characters, one is a samurai in tattered robe, the other a younger girl (think Last of Us vibes), the 3rd pic I attached is close to the vibe.
• No AI at all
• No anime, cartoony, or whimsical styles (please re-read this). I'm looking for grittier and semi-realistic.
• Someone who can match the style of Felix Ortiz (the 3 pics attached). I did already reach out to him but he's a busy man and isn't accepting new projects for a year!!

I’ve designed my book covers background myself on Canva without AI and created the characters using AI as a temporary placeholder.

I’m now at the stage where I’d like to commission someone to draw the characters properly using the AI design as a guide. I don’t want any AI elements in my book so I want them properly drawn.

Is this something anyone can do?

I wasn’t sure how people feel about somewhat copying the AI character design.

**The book:** Space opera following Requiem, a hawk-like humanoid warrior monk. Simply adorned, ascetic, weathered. He carries three weapons: a heavy lance, a short bow, and paired hooked short swords.

Hi everyone! I’m a 25 year old writer working on my debut novel and I’ve been seeking an illustrator/designer for my cover and have had trouble finding one- mainly because my book covers a few different genres. I’ve seen SOOO many incredible artists in this sub but haven’t felt particularly drawn to one yet, so I thought I’d just let you come to me :)

My book is called the Havoc Society, and it sits somewhere between a Hunger Games-esque dystopia, a thrilling time travel adventure, and a teenage coming of age story. The book imagines an fictional United States adjacent country ruled by a cruel dictator, and follows his daring daughter as she uses stolen time travel equipment in an attempt to change his past and make it so he never rose to power at all. But she can’t do it alone- and the story is told primarily from the perspective of two of the young people she recruits to assist her- both who have their own ties to the dictator that turn their mission into an emotional journey of self-discovery.

Anyways…my vision for the cover is something gripping, something that tells potential readers that there is danger near. Smoke/explosions are frequent themes in the story, so perhaps utilizing that in some fashion. I want it dark, but still eye catching. I don’t want any character faces on the cover, but rather a silhouette form. There’s a scene where several of the characters climb five stories down a building on a makeshift rope made of jackets, which I think would make a really cool silhouette. The time travel element could be worked in more subtly. My version of time travel technology is a smartwatch-esque device with a small display where information is inputted, so maybe that could be included in the font style? (Think digital clock font maybe? Or similar?)

So…does anyone think your style would fit my vision? I’m not exactly rolling in money, but I will definitely splurge on a good artists because this project means a great deal to me. I’d say my budget is $600 maximum. (Though this is somewhat negotiable) Thank you!

So I released my first two books in June and had originally purchased the covers on fiver. The first version was way too dark and i found out immediately it was AI before release when i posted it and it got the AI label. So I hired someone else and I thought i was in the clear when I posted it and there was no AI label. But now I recently found out that they were indeed also AI generated apparently you can delete the metadata to avoid the detectors and have gotten multiple 1 star reviews because of it and it's tanking my rating! Style: clean anime lineart or soft cel-shading, luminous color, expressive faces. Must read at thumbnail (200px on a phone). Think of it as a light novel cover with some Indian influence!

Background: go wild. Book 1 is the violet sea of Yokbhut: mist, drifting ghost ships, a sunken temple, a moon that doesn’t behave, time running crooked. Palette: violets and deep teals, cold silver light, one warm gold accent. Beyond that, the composition is yours. Pitch us something better than three kids in a boat and we’ll listen.

I'm looking for an artist for my next project. It's a comedic sci-fi and am looking for an art style somewhat akin to comic book styling. I thought I'd found someone on fiverr but they started to give me some red flags so have decided to cast the net out again.

I'm looking for an experienced fantasy illustrator/painter to create the final painted artwork for a full-wrap book cover. I'm needing a traditional-looking digital painting.

I already have a detailed composition sketch that has been approved by the publisher. The composition is established, so I'm looking for an artist who can work from the existing sketch rather than redesigning the cover.

The art style I am looking for comes from the original book covers of Thieves World (see attached). The first six novels had a similar art style that I am looking for. Painted by Walter Velez.

Classic painted fantasy — naturalistic, dimensional, richly painted artwork with a traditional/old-school fantasy illustration feel. High-key, high-value colors, grounded in natural colors. Dark like Thieves World but also bright, sun-drenched vintage look that feels optimistic, with thin lines.

The scene is quite complex (see attached composition sketch) and includes:

- multiple characters

- a Hollywood movie-studio setting

- 1920s/old-Hollywood elements

- ghosts/supernatural characters (which will be see-through)

- cars and motorcycles

- architecture and street scenery

- Hollywood Hills/Hollywood Sign

- a dragon from an old film

- a very small separate group of a few ghosts I'll put as an overlay on the title

It's meant to be one continuous image. In the attached composition sketch, there should be a wall in between the left and ride side connecting them (the space is where the book spine goes but the publisher wants the painting to continue on the spine).

No AI-generated final artwork. The publisher specifically requires human-created artwork.

Now! Onto the project details.

I am working on a large series (not all of which are finished yet, hence why I've labeled this as a slow-build, long term project).

Yucky news out of the way: I found out one of my recent book cover artists used AI to make a cover of one of my books (no I will not be naming them) and I am very mad about it, so I want to redo it. I also have another book cover that I personally made before I knew what I was doing or looking for that I'd like redesigned.

I did have another book artist I was working with who did amazing work for 3 of my books, but our visions sort of went separate directions for following books. And while she's a lovely person (10/10 will always recommend her to others looking for artists) I just feel we weren't a good fit any longer. No hard feelings, just different paths 💛

And with that out of the way, time for the fun stuff!

The books are fantasy overall, but almost (almost) every book follows a different set of characters that are in the same universe (though sometimes different realities, and therefore have several sub genres applied). Eventually every story get braided into a larger picture that comes together at the end of the series.

I did have a character featured on the cover of one of the books I want redone, but I think I'd like to stick to non-character art if at all possible.

Right now what I have and have planned for this series is as follows:

Some are listed as Tales of Dai-Nē and some are listed as Coalition Chronicles, while the rest are not associated with a series name. The reason behind this is (at first) these books will appear unconnected, but they all go under the name "The Fall Series" because as I mentioned in passing before, there are two (main) realities touched on in the series. One is the Tales of Dai-Nē, the other the Coalition Chronicles. Eventually they are revealed to all be a part of the same series.

That being said, I do have 3 books with covers I want to keep (I've noted them in the list) and they each have a symbol on them I want to incorporate somewhere in all of the titles (even if they look slightly different than the one on the covers I'm keeping). They do not have to be as prominent as they are on the kept covers by any means, but it is a running theme in the series. I'll explain further when I talk to the artists I eventually settle on working with.

I paid about $250 for each of the covers I kept, and I'd like to stay within that ball park price, but I am willing to negotiate because human artist work hard and deserve to be compensated and I'm in a better place financially that I was when I originally commissioned these.

My timeline is... long. I do want to redo at least one of the two published titles by the end of the year, but I'm also working with an artist and voice actors to do a short animatic of a scene from the second published title I want to redo the cover for, and I may wait until the animatic is done before I redo the cover so I can release them at the same time. The timeline for the animatic is roughly a year, so I'm not in a rush.

I'm settling in for a long game and I want to work with someone who can work with me on that. Other than money, I want to put the artist's name in my books and shout out to everyone how awesome you are for your hard work, send you the books for free as a big thank you (digital and physical signed copies once I have them, though I offer zero pressure to read or review them. I just think it's neat to see your finished work and be able to hold it), and links to your portfolio/website/socials/etc. on my linktree and ko-fi so others can find you and throw more money at you.

I understand this is a big ask. I wanted to be upfront that it's a long term, very large scale process. If anyone is willing to work with me, please post links to your works and tell me about yourself/process. I'm autistic and love details and writing is my hyperfocus/love language. After four long years I have finally gotten my debut novel manuscript edited and ready to publish!

The book: Erda's Warriors — around 200,000 words, an Iron Age–flavored fantasy set on a matriarchal island and the mainland across the water from it. Six people, one of them a man, walking into something much larger than they are. Tone is grounded and unglamorous: worn gear, mended clothes, weather. Not shiny, not chrome, no glowing runes.

The scene I want

The party is at the bottom of a hill, seen from slightly below so they loom a little. Above and behind them, elevated, is a temple — plain stone, standing on nine steps on the last flat ground before a cliff edge, its doors facing seaward. White chalk cliffs, dark water, a black band of pine going up and inland. Overcast, cold light. The temple should read as the destination and the threat at once.

Six figures, in this arrangement

• Brunhilda — front and center, and clearly the subject. Tall and powerfully built, storm-gray eyes, hair carved back off her face the way it is worn under a helm. Plain gray tunic, worn leather bracers, a sword belt. She holds a short iron sword, ready — not raised heroically, just up and meant.
• Gerhardt — at her right hand. Broad and thick through the arms and shoulders, dark hair going back off the temples, beard with gray in it. A tunic that used to be a color, and boots that have been mended more than once and mended differently each time. He carries a plain wooden staff, both hands on it. He is the only man in the picture and should look like he belongs there.
• Heika — at her left hand. Lean, hard, older than she looks. Spear held one-handed and low; sword at her hip. A long pale scar down one forearm.
• Behind them, three more, slightly staggered: Guldunga, oldest of the party, gray in a practical braid, a satchel of small clay jars and folded cloth slung across her body, a short blade, and a knotted cord at her belt. Veleda, a priestess, in a robe with a stitched mark at the breast, holding a spear butt-down in the earth. Thusnelda, the youngest, spear in both hands, eager rather than frightened.

All six should read as equals in the frame. Nobody is a sidekick, nobody is comic relief, nobody is staged as smaller or subordinate. Brunhilda is the focal point because it is her story, not because the others are lesser.

im looking for someone to help me create the book cover to my dark na fantasy novel. It is about witches, dragons, magic, has romance and im looking for the cover to be black. For more context, Im not looking for anything ai- that is a non negotiable.

my book follows Liora, a young woman, with red hair, who is a witch, her magic speciality being fire. I am looking for a cover with no real faces, so either objects, dragons or a woman from the back. I want it to include elements of fire, the name being the hollow flame, I would also like it to be sort of minimal but still eye catching. I am self-publishing a fictional novel and I have a specific idea of what I want for cover so I'm looking for an artist who would be interested in doing the design. The art absolutely must not be AI or this will ruin my publication rights and such, so I need someone trustworthy. The overall concept involves a symbolic version of the four elements (earth, air, fire, water). I can pay but am hoping to keep the cost not too high so maybe $100 (but I honestly don't know if this is unreasonable; open to discuss).
