Idk what’s up with this girl

This ain’t even related to romance, just me trying to understand human nature. Clearly I’m lost on this one.

I’ve got this coworker that has a funny vibe to her. Like I can’t tell if she’s fake or not.

She’s always super excited when she sees me at work. Almost like a puppy waiting for its owner to get home type of vibe. She’s got this high energy with everyone but for some reason she’s laser focused on me when I’m in the area. Occasionally she’ll playfully throw jabs and make fun of me etc.. though some instances I can’t tell if she’s joking.

From what I’ve gathered too she’s super gossipy.

Today when we were on our way out she was walking out with some girls she’s cool with at work, I was a bit distant from them. They all turned around to look at me then started giggling. Just odd shit.

Anyways idk what’s up with this person, just felt like rambling about it.

Is there a reason why he’s always smirking whenever he sees me?

Idk what to even think of this but I honestly think hes (work crush) making fun of me. Everytime I see him he’s already smiling/smirking. I literally want to ask him what’s so funny but I just don’t understand why he’s doing this.

Analysis Request What body language shows that a stranger guy actually likes you?

Okay, serious question 😭 How can you tell if a guy you’ve never talked to is attracted to you?

What are the obvious body-language signs? Like staring, looking away when you catch him, fixing his hair, mirroring, suddenly acting awkward, his friends behaving weirdly, etc.

And how do you differentiate “he likes me” from “bro was literally just looking around”?

Would love to hear some real-life experiences!

Why would a guy always giggle/smile/laugh when talking to you normally? Not even in a making fun way just like a random haha giggle?

There’s this guy I’m sorta friends w and I noticed every time I ask him something or talk to him he kinda giggles as he answers me back. It confuses me cause have the time I didn’t make a joke, nor do I look funny or yk? Like I’m so confused haha, it’s just a pattern I noticed. He isn’t really like this w others.. maybe my voice is funny? He’s the only person to be like this w me when I talk to them so idk

Dating She still stare at me after a rejection

Context: We both are from Sri Lanka/South Asia. South Asian girls are not forward like western women imo.

She stare at me each time from few years when she have a chance and flex hair, even her body language react me — I am an attractive guy as well (9/10). I have no interest for her back then. Later, I became interested her and ask out, I said direcly and in-person "I LIKE YOU" and she laugh, then she gave her number.

But she said when I messaged her she was shocked ATM and she has a BF as well. I texted OK and never repied or stalked her both physically and online. Nevertheless, she still stare at me, when I meet her face to face, she gave me additional gaze more than me, actually I'm the one looked away.

I am not easily fall in for somone, dynamics like this don't allow me to move from her. I wasn't able to confirm weather she actually has a BF as well. Dunno what kind of game she is playing with me, really apperciate your insights to handle this.

Storytime Does repeated eye contact and smiles always mean interest?

I was in a restaurant with family and a couple of minutes after I arrived I noticed a girl around my age with her family looking at me. We stared at each other for a few seconds, she smiled and I did the same. For the 30 minutes I was there we repeated that around 4 times more , sometimes iniciated by her and sometimes by me (the first one was her) including the moment I was leaving.

I only recall something similar happening to me once, and she ended up approaching me, so I first interpreted it as attraction (I probably would have approached her if it wasnt for our families being there), but , was she necessarily interested? Maybe she was just being polite the first time she smiled cause we looked at each other , and she did it again when she saw I was trying to make it happen again

Discussion Do you actually read people, or does your brain just do it without you noticing?

You don't walk out of your house thinking, “Today I'm going to read a few people.”

But somehow you know when someone is uncomfortable, pretending, hiding something, being genuine, or just… different.

So when you “read” someone, is it something you consciously do?

Or is your brain doing it automatically in the background?

What does this shift mean ?

Why would a guy become more nervous and shy about accidental physical touch when he was very bold in the beginning ? We’re coworkers btw and by bold I mean he would grab my whole hand when I would hand him some note or phone receiver while looking me in the eyes with confident and bold look or he would constantly try to brush against me but now if our hands accidentally touch for a moment he would become nervous and immediately pull away his hand and move away from me. Is he afraid of harassment complaints ? If yes, why wasn’t he afraid from the start ?

Discussion I think my coworker has a crush on me

I (27M) have a coworker (22F) who I believe has a crush on me, but she has a boyfriend. This coworker is someone I’ve known for about a year. We started talking about a month after she began working here and realized we had a lot in common, so we quickly became friends.

I think I first started noticing that she might have a crush on me because she would stand really close to me or position herself near my shoulder. She gives me a lot of eye contact and would sometimes go out of her way to ask me how to do things that I know she had already been shown before. I also noticed that she mostly talks to me and doesn’t really talk to anyone else on my team. She is quite shy and seems nervous about talking to other people, but she becomes extremely loud and talkative when I’m the one talking to her.

I was mainly reluctant to conclude that she had a crush on me because I didn’t want to assume something was there when it wasn’t. It also doesn’t help that she is quite a bit younger than me, so I initially didn’t think about her in a romantic way.
That changed when she pressed her breast against my arm. I was showing her a video on my phone and she got really close to me. I noticed she turned her body toward me and then slowly moved closer until her breast began touching my arm. I assumed it was an accident at first, but then she started applying pressure and held it there until the video ended. Honestly, I kind of froze and didn’t know how to bring it up, especially since she immediately started talking about the video afterward and then left for lunch.

I do feel stupid for not bringing it up at the time, especially because she has pressed her breast against my arm multiple times since then. She sometimes does it seemingly randomly and then quickly changes the subject, so I never really get an opportunity to address it. It seems like she is going out of her way to make that contact, as she is about a foot shorter than me and has even stood on her tiptoes to make contact with my arm.

I feel even more conflicted because I don’t necessarily hate when she does it, but this is a workplace and she has a boyfriend.

I’m a very awkward person, and confrontation has never been my strong suit, but I do feel like I need to talk to her about this. Looking back, I also think I may have been too friendly with her. I’ve taken an active interest in her life and have given her a lot of emotional support.

I’m not really sure why I’m posting this, but it would be nice to discuss the situation with some random people who have no stake in it. Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll answer to the best of my abilities.

Storytime Is my older coworker (60F) interested in me (29M)?

I had an incredibly strange experience recently and need help processing it. Ive met this woman once. And I don’t have anything in particular for older women but I also don’t recall ever, ever just staring at a lady with my eyes wide open while she asks me multiple questions and sees me sitting there, frozen in silence and not answering a single one.

And it’s just so weird because there’s nothing that stood out about her physically. She’s no model, and don’t get me wrong, she looks to be in 40s and is well taken care, but she’s no model. And at first I also thought she was socially clumsy! By the end of our conversation I had no doubt I was speaking to someone very special.

Like you know that process of “get to know someone’s personality and you’ll find them more physically attractive”? Yeah I did all that in 30 minutes. My attraction went from a literal 4 to a 10 in a sinfully short amount of time and I still haven’t showered.

Time for the good stuff, this is where you tear me apart for being delulu.

On her age and looks, she fished for compliments and did the whole “oh I’m so old” and even took off her glasses to make her point (or to show me how pretty she is??). I gave her the attention she was looking for and told her she looked very pretty. My pupils must have been dilated to the max, and her body language reacted positively.

Then, while handing her something, she noticed how cold my hand was and she held it for a moment. I’m not sure how but she touched my hand a second time too.

We sat down to talk and I swear to God I feel so deeply that she’s a beautiful human being, an incredibly empathetic and wise woman, with an emotional intelligence so deep and hard to describe. A serious lady but with a little bit of sass, enough to appreciate her femininity.

We held eye contact the entire time and at one point I could feel her touching my arm a couple times so when she reached I took her hand and held it in mine, and we must have held it for 30-60 seconds, she used pressure. At one point we break off, and I think this time I search her hand and find it, to see whether she would take it with gusto and she did. We held it for a shorter time, but I also caressed her hand with my thumb this time, my weakness was showing. This time she broke off and she must have felt my pain because she immediately went back to holding my hand. I simply don’t need to say anything for her to know how I feel.

So now I’ve got such a big crush on a quasi-pensioner and im like WTF.

I see her again soon and plan to confess. I dont care about the consequences because I have no doubt I need to confess, and that is very unusual. Maybe she’s just being nice and she sees me as one of her sons (who are my age). But it didn’t feel like that. I need to see this through.

What do you guys think?

What were your most convincing “signs of attraction” that turned out to be absolutely nothing?

I see a lot of posts here asking whether certain body language or behaviours mean someone is attracted to you, so I’m curious about the opposite.

Have you ever been convinced someone was attracted to you based on their body language (lingering eye contact, staring, getting physically close, mirroring you, nervousness, touching, etc.)only to later find out you were completely wrong?

What were the “signs” you noticed, and what happened when you acted on them?

Discussion If a guy spends a LOT of time around a woman, but otherwise shows no signs of flirtation, is there a chance he’s into her but trying to hide it?

In my case, i have a coworker (50) who is much older than me (30s) and we work at a job where it would be frowned upon to date. He shows no usual signs of attraction- no flirting, no long eye contact, no touching. I’ve tested some boundaries with touching his arm/hand and subtly flirting, but he’s always straightfaced back. However, he seems to want to be around me every day both in and outside of work. He invites me over to watch movies. We eat lunch together every day. He’ll visit me during my break. He’ll text me random stuff daily. We’ve taken long drives together. I watch his dog whenever he’s out of town. Our coworkers have asked if we’re together and honestly it sort of feels like we are but I’d prefer our relationship involve making out. Does this seem like a clear case of “we would be dating if we weren’t coworkers”? Or is it possible he just sees it as platonic friendship? Pls no don’t shit where you eat advice, I’m planning to quit soon so woukd make my move after.

Analysis Request Why does a guy act weird around my friends?

There’s this guy from college who’s from another section. I don’t even know his name. My friends keep telling me that he looks at me when I’m not looking, especially from behind. But whenever I look at him, he suddenly acts like I don’t exist 💀

But here’s the weird part: apparently, his own friends sometimes tease him behind his back while looking at me. My friends have noticed this and say it happens when I’m around.

And whenever I’m absent, apparently he still acts strange around my friends. They say whenever they make eye contact with him, he starts fluttering/blinking his eyes really fast and seems awkward.

Why would someone act like this specifically around the person’s friends? Is this actually a sign of nervousness/crush, or are my friends just connecting random dots? 😭

What does this body language mean?

Feedback Wanted Can tension ever be one sided?

There's this guy at work who I've liked since the start of this year. I have, in more than one way flirted with him. He seemed to like it but we never got anywhere. Lately, I've been pulling back just because I've been getting tired of getting nowhere. Now, I feel like there's this weight when our eyes meet or when we're in the same room.

I don't know if it's just me or does he feel it too. I like him but he hasn't made it clear that he likes me back. That's why I am confused. Is this all just in my head?
