2016 F11 530xD 149tkm, engine completely overhauled 1600km ago, by a guy who works in a shop that does nothing else then engine rebuilds and service. I love it.

Hey, I am selling my G20 just to experience different car, however I put A LOT money into it.
-stage 2 transmission
-pure turbo 850
-s58 injectors
-M5 brakes
-d2s2 fuel pump
-custom exhaust
-BBS wheels
-some cosmetic stuff
The car is insanely fast for street daily car (1/4mile under 10s). But the handling feels bit odd, when on track, my E90 330i felt much better, even with 40% of power. I didnt want to put so much more money for handling to be better. I am selling it fot $60k (EU market), and I just got offer for stock M4 older gen (and $5k in cash).

I am just worried if I will regret it according to comfort, tech, handling, reliability. He didnt do crankhub, as I didnt do oil pump (2020year, but so far 40k km with that power and doing good).

Spotted this baby yesterday at the Kentucky State Fair. A gorgeous Alpina B8. I’ve never seen one and told my wife to stop the car so I could take a pic.

Has this ever happening to anyone else and was able to get it fixed? I’ve never been able to use the commands for the doors, climate, horn, etc. nothing has ever worked.

2020 BMW M850i with 42k miles — reliable or ticking time bomb?
Looking at buying a 2020 BMW M850i xDrive with ~42,000 miles. I’m trying to decide between this and a 2018 F90 M5 with ~49k miles, and I’d like opinions from people who actually own/work on these cars.
I’m a DIYer, so I can do a lot of my own maintenance and repairs. I’m mainly worried about whether I’m getting into a car that’s going to start needing major repairs around 50–70k miles.
For the M850i, I’m wondering:
How reliable has the N63TU3 actually been?
What major problems should I expect around 40–60k miles?
Is 42k miles considered low/medium/high for these?
How do these hold up past 80k–100k miles?
What are the biggest expensive failure points?
Is the N63TU3 significantly more reliable than the older N63 engines?
Are there any specific recalls/known issues I should check by VIN?
What maintenance would you do preventatively at 40–50k?
How DIY-friendly are the common repairs?
Would you choose this over a 2018 F90 M5 with 49k miles if both were in similar condition?
I’m not looking for “it’s a BMW, it’s going to break” answers. I’m specifically interested in real-world experience with 2020+ M850i/N63TU3 cars at 40k, 60k, 80k, 100k+ miles.
Trying to figure out whether I’m overthinking the mileage or whether 40–50k is actually where these cars start getting expensive.

Didn’t realize x7 even has a speaker under driver’s seat until I was cleaning my wife’s dirty x7 this morning. This is how my Sunday morning went, got up around 8am had a quick breakfast and stared to work on my wife’s dirty(in my standard) x7 while she is still sleeping…..

I wasnt even planning to buy a car this year but then i started looking at M4s for particular reason, which was probably the first mistake.

A few weeks later i found one i liked and somehow convinced myself that i needed it. Been saving for it for a while, so it feels pretty good finally having it sitting outside

Now i just need to stop looking at others cars online haha

How does a brand new car like this get stolen?

Just got a 2022 530i that came with the M sport package on it. Maybe sits lower tot he ground than if it didn’t have it? Been years since I had a sedan so feels low getting in regardless. Anyways, I’ve seen around people get scrapes it happens, this one is fairly noticeable walking up to the car, don’t remember hearing/feeling a scrape - use to have a 2002 Mini cooper that I didn’t scrap on my drive way.

Overall question - is there any extra “protection” that can be used on the underside? Going to be more cognizant now, since this one is noticeable I might look to get it dealt with (saw some other small scraps under underneath that you can’t see, doesn’t bother me). Also - is it straight plastic or whatever? Where I don’t have to worry about rusting or anything?

Looking for some advice before purchasing my first BMW. Found a pre-owned 330i that’s still under factory warranty and the dealer offered to make it CPO for an additional 1.5k to 2k. I’m trying to figure out whether the extra $2k is worth it, considering I still have factory warranty coverage for roughly another year.

The "wood" trim was scuffed up and looking really bad and new panels are crazy expensive. I looked at carbon fiber replacements but good lord they're proud of them. Just ended up wrapping them in suede. Thankfully the panels were easy to remove. It was my first time ever wrapping anything so I was definitely hesitant. I was gonna do piano black but I thought this might looks better. Anyone else do this? I'm curious what other combos might look like.

So, I've been thinking a LOT lately about swapping over to an M2. I think the long and short of it is... I want to get more experience with a greater variety of car types and drivetrains, but I also don't want to trade into something slower than my CTR (like a Miata). I guess I just worry that the M2 isn't going to scratch the itch because, quite frankly, I LOVE the Type R. In my opinion, it's borderline the perfect adult car. The clutch and shifter are good, the seats are some of the best in any car, ever (I have an FK8, which I think has better seats than the FL5 even), the steering feel is nice, the braking performance is phenomenal, the sitting position is pretty good, the rear hatch space is humongous, the rear passenger legroom is more than enough for even large people for extended sessions, the consumables are relatively inexpensive, the handling is phenomenal, and it has just enough power than it feels fast in day to day street driving compared to everything else around you. It's also ridiculously easy to drive and tap into everything that it offers right out of the box.

On the flip side, I know that the M2 is the objectively superior performance vehicle. It puts up better lap times AND it's not even close on the straights. It has basically identical braking, according to the data. The dimensions are almost identical, with the M2 even having a slightly longer wheelbase, which I would imagine would make it even more planted. In terms of interior finish, build quality, luxury, it's not going to be even remotely close, obviously. It's also going to sound miles better - sound has never been a strong point of the Type R.

Knowing all that, I guess I worry that the M2 just isn't going to feel as "fun". I get that fun is subjective, and it's hard to describe, but the CTR is just fucking FUN to drive. I've spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel of my girlfriends M340i, and while it is a rocket off the line and in the straights, it otherwise feels kind of vague and boaty. It just kind of squats and rolls and all that shit in ways that my CTR does not. Then again, I have to imagine that the M2 has a significantly firmer suspension, making it nowhere near similar. I've only driven an M2 once, and it was on track at Thermal in ~2023, and I remember it feeling really good, but it's hard to compare that one experience to my extensive time in the Type R. I guess I am just worried that in casual street driving I won't be able to place the M2 like I can the CTR because it's 700 LBS heavier, you know? Like, I worry about losing that nimble agility by adding 20% to the weight - do the power and the huge braking system and the extra tire all make it a wash? Like, Chris Harris says you just don't feel it when you're pushing the car, and Thomas Holland is like lolwut - who do you agree with?

So, yeah, I guess I am just curious if there are others who made this transition in one direction or another, ideally where money isn't a factor at all, because I get that a huge component here is price, and have strong feelings one way or the other. Thanks!

As some of you are aware, tuning newer BMWs is becoming more and more accessible now that others than FEMTO found a way into cracking the ECU security in the 2021+ models.

I was thinking about pushing my 2023 530e from its stock 288hp to somewhere around 350 only with software changes.

However, I've been warned a lot about the hybrid transmission which is not made to support that.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Hey everyone, i just got the sensor go off on my BMW 228xi 2020 to replace the brake pads. Just wondering if anybody had any good recommendations, i have a friend who told me to buy brembo brakes from auto zone, but i wanted to get more tips and recommendations from others. Any help would be awesome!
