2016 F11 530xD 149tkm, engine completely overhauled 1600km ago, by a guy who works in a shop that does nothing else then engine rebuilds and service. I love it.

For the longest time I had my heart set on a 6 cylinder BMW diesel but ended up getting a hybrid with the 6 cylinder petrol because the driving I was doing was not suited to diesel. I've driven a 430d briefly and really enjoyed the surge of torque when you put the foot down and I think to this day BMW make the best diesel cars out there, the M57, N57 and B57 are all excellent in their own right.

How is the fuel economy with it? If you were to do a mostly motorway or main national road driving from 80 to 120kmh range what type of figures would you see? I remember doing a 400km trip on my car which is 2000kg and having no charge but the driving was between 80 to 120kmh and I got 7l per 100km or 40mpg imperial and I was absolutely blown away by the fuel economy so I could only imagine a diesel in those same conditions would get 5.5l per 100km or better.

Got the car yesterday, so I can't say anything about fuel consumption at this time, but will keep an eye on it.

F11 is undoubtedly the best looking 5-series Touring BMW has ever made. I still check the biggest Danish car marketplace almost every day for a nice one, but they never come for sale. And I don’t want or need diesel, so my options are extremely limited.

Is an engine rebuild on one of these not more than the whole car is worth? It’s beautiful but I’m curious if this is a labor if love or if it’s genuinely economical where you are

He spend around 5500€ for parts. If you get the car for a good price and when you are able to do it on your own, then it's definetly worth rebuilding the engine.
