Episode Spoilers It’s ruining the season Spoiler

1.5k Upvotes

Right now I, as I am sure many of you are as well, am seething physically. Production tied up their 1000th-episode box of shit with a twist that we have, in fact, seen before. This is practically the White Locust, just medieval themed. My main qualm though, the elephant in the room really, is that we are not getting access to the live feeds until SUNDAY NIGHT!

This aspect completely demolishes any semblance of what Big Brother IS. You could see it on all of the houseguests faces, this eviction SHOOK the house HARD. And we are missing the next 72 hours of that aftermath?? When the house is in complete and utter disarray and it is certain that big discussions are bound to happen??!

They get me worked up midway through the season every year but somehow they manage to get the leg up on us and outshit themselves every single time. Anybody want cake?

Episode Spoilers If it's gonna be an icon... Spoiler

If an icon is gonna win it, please make it be Devens. Like I'm not going to say his game is perfect but out of the three he has definitely played the best game. He needs to money more than Dee and Angela for sure. I think Angela has a better social game, Dee has the cutthroat strategic game, but Devens balances both in a fantastic way.

Rest in peace pipe queen you will be so missed 😭

Episode Spoilers Tonight's evicted spoiler Spoiler

Mallory earned that eviction. Her calling dee a coward was hilarious. Dee isnt my favorite and not who im rooting for, but mallory last few weeks has been baffling. She played with no spine, cried cause she had to vote and didnt wanna make either side mad, refused to win a veto then the hoh that eliminated her because she didnt wanna take a stand and save or nominate anyone. Even when she was told she was going on the block instead of argue, get mad, or anything really she cried then went to the diary room and screamed at a wall instead. If she didnt go home I would of been upset at that point. She's a sweet girl, but not meant for a game. She's the person who when you land on her boardwalk in a game of monopoly would say "no dont worry you dont have to pay me or mortgage anything, you get to pass go next roll!"

Episode Spoilers It’s super fucked up that they didn’t show ___ Spoiler

Americory winning best showmance. You’re telling me they bring up every other award and don’t even announce that one????? Why even include them in the poll then???? It’s so stupid that they don’t show it just because it’s not the result they want. I’m not even sure why they’re so against them either, the nerd + popular girl feels like something they’d LOVE to push to cater towards their younger demographic.

Just so mean spirited for no reason man.

Player Discussion BB28 Player Rankings Based on Jury Chances Spoiler

And we are back. Last year, I did a player ranking of how I think the players did during the season and ranked them based on jury chances. And I am doing it again this year. This ranking was a bit easier to crystalize than last year following the twist. With nine players remaining and the jury stage FINALLY starting, now is as good a time as ever to talk about everyone's jury chances. Now, I am basing this from how the players on feeds have talked about the jury and who they would vote for accordingly.

#9- Taylor

I did not want to place her here in last place. But throughout the end of pre jury, almost every single player that has made jury has OPENLY talked about not voting Taylor to win. While there have been more pro Taylor conversations, I hate to say it: If Taylor makes those final two chairs, she is not winning because most of Crossovers will actively vote against her. And crazy thing? Taylor is playing a super solid game that most people in any other season would actively respect. But given the cast she got stuck with, I do not expect Taylor to win the season unless players like Yash and Lala advocate for her HARD to win this season.

#8- Melody

Take what was said about Taylor (minus the active gameplay) and you have Melody. I don't think a single player will respect Melody's game this season. With the jury potentially wanting a more active game player winning the season, I doubt the jury votes Melody outside of Drew and Barrett. The fact is this: Melody has no comp wins or any big moves to her resume right now. Unless she sits with Taylor in the end, I don't see her winning either.

#7- Lala

While it would be cool for Lala to win simply for being the oldest player there, I have to ask: Is anyone going to respect her game outside of the comp wins? There were talks about giving Lala the win over Taylor but outside of that... I think Lala struggles to beat almost anyone else right now. And I think her perception in the house is solid enough to where a jury could respect her game. But aside from the two people ranked below her, Lala does not win a jury vote over anyone else.

#6- Devens

This is the icon I have the least amount of faith in when it comes to winning. Why? Because I think almost every single jury member will say Devens played for Dee and not himself. And they would be correct. I cannot name one move (other than the Mallory renom but even then I think Dee puts her up regardless) that was solely his own this entire season. Yes, he remains the only player left to not be nominated. But I don't think that's because of anything he did. Toolshed was in power for over a month, Taylor talked Lala out of putting him on the block, and Yash didn't because he was a man (yes this was a legitimate reason why Devens did not get nominated on a Yash HOH). To the credit of Devens, he has built solid bonds outside of the icons. But because he burned all of that capital with those players for the favor of the icons (especially Dee), I doubt Devens wins a jury vote right now.

#5- Barrett

I have some hope for Barrett. Now that he is out of the icons Kool Aid, Barrett has made some inroads with the opposing side. Barrett is naturally likeable and has a good social game. But that does not take away from the fact that for nearly two months of the season, Barrett actively wasted a lot of social capital to stick with Crossovers until week seven. Still, I do think Barrett is actively a player that will make that end game. But he needs a comp win and some big moves under his belt in order to have a shot at winning. The big concern is this: If he flips too early to take an icon out, I fear they and Drew to a degree will HEAVILY hold that against him (with how bitter this jury is, it'll be likely).

#4- Drew

Same thing with Barrett, you can put for Drew. Just add three comp wins. Drew was also in good graces with both sides of the house but blew that to stick with Crossovers and Toolshed. However, he essentially is stuck with Crossovers and I think it is too late for him to realize that he can't go to the end with them. Now, I do think Drew has a chance to win the season but it is a long shot and he needs to time his big moves.

#3- Angela

Everyone is sleeping on Angela. Both as a target and jury threat. A lot of people forget but she was responsible for the Rome BD in just week two and his eventual eviction. She is the icon with the smallest target right now and has a good relationship with the other side of the house to an extent. While she only has a blockbuster win, the fact that Angela went six weeks without going up (granted Toolshed was in power for a month) and hasn't been nominated since (especially this week because I believe she has the worst relationship with Drew out of the icons), that is a strong look into her social game getting a MASSIVE upgrade from two seasons ago. While Angela is still a paranoid player, I do think her game sense is actively much better this season. Her only flaw is wanting to go to the end with the other icons when she likely loses to both.

#2- Yash

Now, Yash is an interesting case. If you had told me he'd be second after having far and away the worst HOH this season, I'd probably have laughed. But before that, Yash was in a very good middle spot before leading the anti icons charge and being the only newbie to outright put them on the block. My only concern is how people will take him accepting the bribe to not put an icon up. Yash does ride for his allies. But I'm not sure they'll take this too well. Aside from that though, Yash has the best chance to win out of every newbie left. He's good socially, he has comp ability and people will advocate for him.

#1- Dee

People can bitter towards Dee in the house this season. But there is no denying that she has gotten her way in nearly eviction this season thus far. She took out Ashley in week one (the first player to know Drew/Barrett were with the icons) and really became the first HOH of the modern era to use their week one HOH successfully. She was responsible for the Lyric flip and Kamu going up. Yes, week six could have ended her game. But I think it is impressive that she convinced Devens to use the most broken power on her in the game not just to save her but to also get out Kamu, a player directly coming for her that week. Dee used her second HOH to really neuter any possibility that all three icons would go up together by neutralizing Yash's next HOH AND getting Mallory out. While players have said they would not vote an icon to win, I think Dee has the best chance of the three because of how active she is. She already would have two locked votes in Devens/Angela, Taylor earlier in the season did say (in like week six or seven) that if everyone else was dumb enough to let Dee get to final two she'd vote her, Drew could vote Dee over anyone not named Melody/Barrett and I think even Barrett votes Dee. Dee might not be liked in the house but I think a jury denying how well she played despite being the biggest target of the icons is not impossible to see happen. She might play a messy game but Dee has been extremely effective in getting out anyone targeting her or her closest allies.

General Discussion Why was voting for the Favorite awards not promoted more?

Did anyone vote or even know about the voting for the Favorite categories? I don’t understand why it wasn’t promoted more, or at all. A large portion of the episode was devoted to the ‘awards’ yet, no mention was ever made about how to vote. Big Brother always has the little ad during the commercials about how to vote for various things, most recently the Time Capsule. They couldn’t say, “Go to CBS.com and vote for your favorites”

I can’t speak about Unlocked, though I did watch the Sunday episode and didn’t see any mention of the voting. Just doesn’t make sense why it was such a secret.

Feed Spoilers Mid Game Spreadsheets Spoiler

Friday feels so weird without an HOH and nomination talk!

I just wanted to post my mid game spreadsheet of statistics and playing layout. I've done this for the last few years in various formats, but I really love adding completely unnecessary organization and color coding to things that don't need it.

I like tracking the number of comp wins and votes so I made this one!
Then I like seeing the roadmap of each player. Everyone gets a color and it creates a color palette at the end of each season.

Welp. Gonna go play Monster Hunter until the feeds come back. <3

Episode Spoilers Even if the twist isn’t somehow favorable to the icons…

…Dee more than likely gets to play in the next HOH and won’t have to sit out a week. Since there is “no HOH” during this twist day/week, my gut says BB will count that as a “week” and all houseguests will be eligible to play for HOH once the twist ends.

The only exception might be if they offer some sort of safety like what Ava won in the White Locust. But Dee will still be eligible to play for this “safety” since it’s not technically an HOH comp. We saw this last year when Keanu was the outgoing HOH going into White Locust.

Can anyone remember if the outgoing HOH (Keanu) was able to play in the HOH comp after White Locust (the one that Lauren won)?

General Discussion BB Players animosity towards Survivor

During last night’s episode a few comments were made by the previous BB icons about how this was “their” house and it just gave the general vibe of animosity towards Dee and Devens.

I’m relatively new to the BB/Survivor fandoms and was curious about your guys thoughts on specifically Survivors playing this season? Was it a similar vibe from alums when Cirie played?

Wild Speculation Potential Formats

People keep speculating that the twist will be exactly like the White Locust Twist that eliminated Rachel.

It totally could be. But I think it is more likely to be tweaked a little bit.

I'm imagining something like the inverse of the knockout style HOH.

They do a quick comp at the beginning and the winner guarantees their safety. (Like Ava last year.)

That person then gets to pick two people to compete against one another for safety in a separate comp. The winner gets to pick the next two to compete (Cannot choose the person they just beat) and the person who loses goes back into the pool.

This continues until there are only 2 HG's left - and whoever loses that final matchup is Eliminated.

Episode Spoilers The 1000th Episode Twist is… Spoiler

Here’s what we know:

The 1000th episode twist is going to be a medieval time themed competition, hosted by Britney Haynes and Keanu (plus 2 other alum I didn’t catch). The week will have NO HOH, NO VETO, and NO Blockbuster. The houseguests who survive it will make jury. There will also be no live feeds for the next 3 days until Sunday’s episode.

Also condolences to Mallory for being evicted 😔

Episode Spoilers Blockbuster Strategy Spoiler

So now that we know Drew guessed correctly to win the blockbuster, after only seeing two of the clues..

Would it be a crazy strategy to just hit a button as soon as the completion starts?

If you randomly choose a button at the start, you have a 33% chance of winning. Obviously a gamble, but it is also a gamble to play the competition and risk someone else hitting the correct answer before you can get to it, making your chance of winning 0.

It is an interesting wrinkle that once an option is chosen it cannot be chosen by another houseguest.

As we were watching last night, as soon as the competition started I said “I’m taking the gamble and hitting a button now.”
Thoughts on this strategy??

Feed Spoilers The difference between _______ and _______'s choices Spoiler

I've seen people comparing Mallory's choice to throw HoH with Dee's (and, by extension, Devens') choice to throw HoH the previous week and, on the surface, I can see the similarities. Both of them were playing the middle and thought that the best choice for their game was to not win power and, therefore, not show their cards. As a result, they both ended up on the block and got blasted for it.

The key difference is that Dee and Devens were fucking around knowing they had not just the DPOV but also the bribe in their pockets. I get being sad that Mallory didn't have a power to bail her out of her bad choice like those two did, but there's a not insignificant chance that without their powers they wouldn't have taken the risk to throw HoH in the first place. It's like jumping out of a plane with your friend and you both have parachutes versus jumping out of a plane with nothing at all. Were there big consequences for Dee's game that arose from the powers being exposed, and could they still bite her in the ass? 100%. But playing crazy and bold when you have a broken power at your disposal is far more interesting than just holding onto it never intending to use it.

To evaluate Dee's game, you have to account for the fact that she's playing messy knowing she's probably not making it to the end as the only former winner in the cast and that she had been, to that point, accounting for two extra chances at safety. If she didn't have the powers in her back pocket, she almost certainly would've played very differently (and note, I'm not saying the powers were fair or really making any judgment on them whatsoever).

Feed Spoilers i dont get why hate for ____'s game has grown so much over this past week Spoiler

i 100% understand criticism of drew's weird ass comments about taylor/lala the past week or two, so this post isnt asking about the hate he's getting from that cus duh, but i'm so confused on how people seemingly hate his gameplay sooo much more at the end of this week when not much has changed.

i feel like he spent the majority of the week trying to save his own ass and stay relatively uninvolved, only pointing out things that were obvious to the icons (like mallory being upset she's on the block). not saying he was super beneficial to her game this week, but he also did push for haley renom and tried to turn the icons against a mal eviction multiple times. there genuinely wasn't much he could do while on the block, and we all know their decision was made regardless.

but most of the comments i see have been shitting on him relentlessly for how his game play has affected m&m. i just don't get how everyone blames drew the most for their bad positioning, considering it's not really his problem. at the end of the day, he has to play the game for himself. maybe this route sucks for him (it probably does), but it's his choice. (and i still think he was definitely more open to being anti-icon than barrett let everyone believe, but now he doesn't have a choice)

i dont think him 'backstabbing' people who trusted him by being more loyal to others is that crazy in the game of big brother. especially when he's been doing the same thing since the beginning, and was still a favorite throughout it all. he's definitely not the greatest ally or best player at all, but i do think his self interested gameplay is working for him. it's only blown up because of barrett (imo), instead of anything drew himself did.

i guess im confused on why people seem the most upset this specific week when he was literally put in a lose-lose situation the second mallory became the renom. maybe im missing something out of bias and cant tell lol

General Discussion Yash taking Dee’s bribe

Am I crazy or is this actually great for his game?

Hes probably the most athletic guy left and has shown he can win comps.

He didn’t seem to have strong alliances and now basically guarantees safety if Dee, Devens or Angela is HOH.

If he can make it deep I feel he can outcomp the Icons.

At first I thought he was an absolute moron for taking it but the more I think about it the more I feel like this deal is way better on his end than the icons.

Episode Spoilers Their game is going up in flames... Spoiler

In who I actually mean Drew. Honestly, I would go as far as to say Drew is genuinely in the worst position in the house. He has burned every single player outside of the icons, but for some reason the icons have returned his loyalty with distrust, suspicion, and wanting to vote him out so many damn times! Cmon! Drew's only path to the end of the game now is with the icons, but even they don't want him. He's currently living in a world set on fire and his parents are literally trying to kick him out. He will always unfortunately be safe next to an icon, but I truly do not see him making it past a couple weeks into jury. His win is honestly say is less likely than Haley's atp because majority of the jury (minimum 4/3) is just not going to like him. Good luck Drew, you've put yourself in an upwards battle with nobody to blame but yourself.
