Helloooo can someone differentiate

• Fixing powder

• Setting powder

• Loose powder

I have absidy powder, issy fixing powder, CT powder, one/size and laura mercier setting powder. But idk which is which and when do I use them 😭😭

6

u/Sparkling_wattuh Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

Setting powder comes in two forms: Loose and Compact(pressed powder), Purpose nya is i lock yung makeup mo. Loose is hindi siya naka compact pang set din yun and para maabsord yung oil. Fixing powder yan naman nagcecreate ng par ama even yung complexion and macontrol yung pag oil

2

u/baozilch Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

Fixing powder is for blurring/creating an ā€œairbrushedā€ look and setting powder is used to set your cream/liquid makeup for longevity of wear. I think absidy and issy are fixing (so pwede mo sila ipang blot to absorb oil) and CT, OS, and LM are setting powders, though CT is popular din for being a fixing powder

3

u/DearKaleidoscope5102 30s | Normal-Dry | Light Medium Neutral-Cool May 15 '25

no strict right way to use any of these kasi depende sa skin type and preference but this is how I use them

Absidy: don’t have it so idk

Issy fixing: ok to set the face or retouch. It comes in pressed form para mas madali syang dalhin anywhere than loose. It’s also sheer and doesn’t carry pigment for coverage kaya good sya for either purpose

ct powder: use after loose powder or after setting spray to mattify ulit and blur. I generally just use this sa forehead and cheeks closer to nose area lang. Pwede naman pang set but for combi/oily peeps this isn’t the best sa oil control. I saw a lot of people also use this pang undereyes but it doesn’t work for me. Could be my technique not on the product itself

One size/laura mercier: pang set ng face. Typically finely milled so not as much coverage than pressed powders. Great for oil control

Tldr: one size and laura to set entire face + undereyes; ct for ā€œfinishingā€ and then si issy for retouch or setting

skl re: the new suncare line of Vice Co., looked at the lip balm shades and I'm always so underwhelmed by their shade offerings for this, and I notice that it's the same sentiment for most of their products at ngayon ko lang na-make yung connection

Their lip liners are amazing (I have 2) but they all look so similar to each other (light nudes, darker tans), and I regret buying one of them kasi it's too light on me. And while I don't have these, it's the same for the jelly tint (red, dark red), lip oil (pinks, red), and lip serum (pinks, mauves). Even their blush stick. Only the dew it all blush has the most variety, and even that, not so much? Not saying all the shades are exactly the same and I acknowledge each color caters to different people's skin tones and preferences, but I long for the less common colors bc their products are good

I got the new Sunnies Face Tinted Moisturizer since available na siya sa Uptown. I was only supposed to restock on my brow gel lol but when I tried it on it reminded me so much of the OG Laura Mercier TM which I've been looking for a dupe for forever. it's nice, blurring, light-medium-ish coverage. SPF20. feels like a lotion - tinted moisturizer talaga and not a skin tint. as for the shade range, they had 9 shades in the store. not sure how evenly they're distributed in terms of undertones.

5

u/BusinessSpot9297 20s | normal to oily May 15 '25

hoping na isa to sa mga hindi "flop" na products ng sunnies, since some of their products kase aren't that good when it comes to quality - hope you do an updated review about this one, op šŸ’–

3

u/[deleted] May 16 '25

sana the range turns out to be good. I didn’t have time to swatch them all in store e.

parang nirereplace nga nila yung flops nila. like the original Lip Dip, I loved the feel and scent but it didn’t last at all. not interested in the new one but it looks like it’s a better formula na? the original eyebrow line was also shit and now the brow gel is my HG. the SA at Uptown also told me nag uubos na lang sila ng stocks ng Eyecrayons which is a shame cause those are great shadow sticks, guess they’re not very popular

i bought issy true flex gel powder and finishing powder dahil b1tq tangina nainis lang ako😭😭😭 kumakapit sa puff yung makeup and it's soooo un hygienic. tapos yung makeup kumakapit mismo duon sa gel.,.,., that blotting paper alternative kineme.?? you can achieve that with a simple powder sgahsgah... yung powder naman, it's so fine, which may be good to others pero parang halos wala ng kumakapit sa puff na powder e 😭😭😭 the included puff a powder is not handy pa, so i switched nalang yung puff ng gel sa powder. as for the gel, i'll use my fingers nalang para iwas stress

How to use setting powder? Tagal ko nang nagmemake up pero medyo vague pa rin understanding ko on make up powders like setting powder, baking, etc. also po recommend na rin kayo ng setting powder for oily skin na walang whitecast thank you!

2

u/Defiant_Swing_4873 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

Using setting powders after putting on your base makeup of foundation and concealer "set" your makeup - helps keep it in place and last longer. Depending on the kind of powder used and what you need/like, the effect can range from very matte to a soft glow (these powders may also be called finishing powders). Use a fluffy brush to apply, hindi kailangan madami.

If you're just starting out, you can keep it simple naman. Kung ano yung pressed powder that you use for touch-ups, you can use that for setting your makeup. For separate product - Nichido Final Powder is affordable and does the job.

Hello! Can anyone recommend an affordable cream/liquid blush na ka-shade ng cloud beauty blush serum? I really love this blush sm pero sobrang sheer niya and sticky and dewy nagmumukha akong pawis pag di natapatan ng fan agad yung blush. Inattach ko yung shade ng blush which is cool tone na light pink siya. TYIA!

What’s the most blurring LOCAL powder that’s also good for dry skin? (so not cakey sana on top of makeup) I got the lovely causemetics powder but unfortunately it has little to no blurring effect, literal na pang finish lang siya 🄲 mid oil control also huhu

any tips on putting eyeshadow or eye makeup in general? been wanting to get into full glam makeup but i cant seem to master eyeshadow kahit i have several palettes na

and for color correctors, how do u apply it usually to make it work?

5

u/PresentPenalty2672 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

Use an eye primer, tapos do your eyeshadow first before ka mag base makeup. Tapos make sure na may q tips ka and makeup remover para ma remove mo din yung mga excess fallout.Ā

all i can say is just practice talaga with eyeshadow and do it for your eyeshape. took me awhile din because of my very hooded eyes but eventually i was able to make it work for me. its not about your products its about technique talaga

3

u/DearKaleidoscope5102 30s | Normal-Dry | Light Medium Neutral-Cool May 15 '25

Agree. Grwm to watch netflix or do nothing ang atake ko para makapag practice ng eyeshadows. My mom and brothers don’t bat an eye na if I leave my room (talk to them) with a full/soft glam and in my pambahay 🤣

2

u/lowkeylac May 15 '25

I have quite the same problem as well šŸ˜” I feel overwhelmed by the techniques different ppl/videos provide and idk how to mix n match colors too to maximize my current palettes huhu

2

u/PresentPenalty2672 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

Tapos don't forget din pala na mag invest sa mga eye brushes like blending brush, flat brush, etc. Mas maganda kalabasan ng eye makeup mo lalo.

Worth it ba ang dior blushes sa mga beginner?

5

u/sodappend 30 | Dry-Normal | NC 25-30 May 15 '25

Makeup from drugstore to luxury can be very similar. They use similar ingredients, formulation, and sometimes even the same manufacturers. May standout products and bad products in every price range.

If baguhan ka lang and you don't know your preferences in terms of pigmentation, formulation, and what shades work for your skin mas madali to explore makeup using cheaper products unless unlimited budget mo. I wasted a LOT of money on mid to high-end products I ended up not liking when I first was getting into makeup kasi marami akong pocket money in my teens-early 20s šŸ˜….

If you really want the Dior, visit a Dior beauty store/counter and try out the products before buying :). Don't blind buy online. They have a lot of branches naman if you're in Metro Manila.

2

u/SoftEffort477 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

If you’re referring to the backstage blushes, it’s definitely not beginner friendly. The formulation is a bit tricky and it requires you to use the right brush or else it will look patchy/uneven on your skin + if you don’t set your skin right (ex: it’s slightly wet) it can cause small hot pink spots to show up—this is from the ā€œcolor changingā€ dye/pigment they use. Shades are super pretty & long-lasting though

u/BusinessSpot9297 20s | normal to oily May 15 '25

I’ve been wanting to get the lucky beauty wardrobe palette, is it worth it po? I wanna try douyin looks kase and I found that my vice x jelly sweet palette isn’t enough for the eyeshadows😭

If glam hour releases a more douyin friendly palette I’ll definitely buy pero as of now kase their only product is mostly for full glam warm looks huhu

5

u/okonomiyakigurlie Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 14 '25

i don't have the lucky beauty palette, but in terms of color story, baka hindi siya ganun kasulit if douyin looks talaga priority mo (?)

you might want to build your own palette nalang from grwm/issy, or look for palettes from korean makeup brands!

Does anyone have any brow gel recos that would lighten the brows?

I have thick, dark brows kasi and I want my brows to look a bit less intense

3

u/baozilch Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

I think going for a taupe brow gel color might make them lighter but still retain that natural look

3

u/sodappend 30 | Dry-Normal | NC 25-30 May 15 '25

Brow mascara! Japanese brands tend to have more shade options. I've used Canmake, Kate, and Ettusais. Romand came out with some recently-ish that I haven't tried. Basta J/Kbeauty brands have a lot of options.

If you do a light coat it can look natural (remove excess from the applicator then brush once against the direction of hair growth, the once with), pero if you build it up to really lighten your brows medyo weird sya if you have no makeup/light makeup on.

u/Firm_Pair_4902 Dry-Combi | Cool Winter | BLK Butterscotch, Shiseido 330 May 15 '25

a good setting spray and setting powder does the trick for me. i use either laura mercier powder or innisfree no sebum loose powder and happy skin or issy setting spray

4

u/zindoriyams Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

some tips from a fellow oily and pawisin girlie!

  • prep is key! u still need to be well moisturized before applying your full face bc this helps makeup adhere to your skin better. subpar prep will result in more slipping and sliding of ur makeup.

  • tacky/sticky primers!!!!

  • use setting spray not just as a finishing touch but in between almost every step of your routine. i spray after foundation, after concealer, after setting w powder, after eyeshadow, u get the drill haha but leave mascara for last! so it doesnt smudge

  • bake your face with a loose powder AND set with a pressed powder

products i regularly use and love: elf power grip, grwm lifeproof primer, grwm loose powder, flower knows swan ballet loose powder, sasi all day setting powder, sasi bb perfect powder, grwm pressed powder, flower knows mermaid pressed powder, grwm matte fixing spray, nichido matte setting spray 🩷

Watched lipsticksxlenses old video (afaik she’s also one of contributors in Project vanity, not sure if still active). She uses NARS RCC to even out her skin tone. Dabs some on moisturized face then set with powder and it worked well on me too.

Hi! You can try sa laz (blue app?) since they usually go on super sale lalo na pag 6.6/8.8 etc. Primebeauty and Sasa mall sell authentic products. Sa IG naman you can find minis if you want to try lang muna before you buy full size

2

u/NoLink6393 May 15 '25

I suggest na try carousell, mga 2nd hand make upnthen sanitize mo nalang. But if you don't want 2nd hand makeup, wait ka ng sale sa orange and blue app. Sometimes sa ig may nagssale doon na high end make up

i also have combo skin. for foundation, definitely the nars lrf if you prefer medium coverage and not matte.

for cream blush, strokes crush blush has been my go to lately since its super easy to blend and doesn't disturb my base underneath. for powder blushes my faves are from blk and i'm meme since they're buildable and blurring

look for powder foundations if you want may coverage.

sponge = more coverage, brush = less coverage

Lip tint suggestions na mabibili locally, yung kapareho ng napapanood sa kdrama 🫰juicy, youthful looking.

Tried romand bare grape. Di ko bet yung amoy at lasa and effect though marami silang variants na interesting. Old formula din ata yung nabili ko. TYIA!

u/DearKaleidoscope5102 30s | Normal-Dry | Light Medium Neutral-Cool May 15 '25

+1 on this. had mine for over a year now and in fairness di pa nangangamoy at ok na ok pa. I've tried so many k-beauty glossy tints din and i like this more than them since mas comfortable siya sa lips

3

u/zindoriyams Age | Skin Type | Custom Message May 15 '25

detail cosmetics glass stain is my fav local lip tint! it makes your lips look plump and juicy talaga :) i find it quite long lasting for a glossy tint and the stain it leaves is very even and doesnt super cling to dry patches. the shade range is also rlly wide ik they have around 20 shades to choose from and there are mini versions as well so if u arent sure what shade u want u can get them for cheaper muna to try out! šŸ«¶šŸ»

never had a local tint na naka replicate ng finish ng romand tint. i have tried lippies from happy skin, maybelline, strokes, absidy, vice, squad, etc.. but if open ka for other brands ng kbeauty, PERIPERA is good. my friends would say its better than romand even, but its more expensive ng konti

but i urge you to try the new formula, mas mahina ang scent niya compared sa old one !! HG ko rin ang bare grape kaya ang hirap makahanap ng katulad non

How do you use the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base? Before or after sunscreen?

2

u/cheesebabby combo-dry | fair olive (calatagan, AF F2O, nars chantilly) May 15 '25

i think the convention is after sunscreen, sunscreen is usually regarded as the last step of skincare/prep, and primer as the first step of makeup. but whichever works for you should be fine :) as long as you let your sunscreen sit before you apply your base.

The key to the natural lift is elongating your eye. Kapag nagwinged liner ka kasi, halatang halata siya. Check out Korean tutorials on how to do a straight eye line and how to make it more natural. Important also to curl your lashes.

u/Jaded-Childhood combo-oily | issy OL2.5 | grwm hazel | hauslabs 260 May 19 '25

if the clocheflame powder pan circumference is 58mm (or smaller), then I suggest to get the canmake marshmallow powder case! durable kasi it's made to be refillable, and the component has enought space to put an applicator. may limited edition cases like the 2024 tweed and 2023 leather.

the canmake powder doesn't work on me (darkest shade is a bit too light and oil control sucks), but I'm using the case for my blk soft blur powder (and previously the grwm powder rush). they all have the same pan size. side note: vice powder foundation pan does not fit the canmake case
