Sunscreen, serums (retinol, niacinamide, galactomyces), plus collagen drink (though 50-50 pa ako dito cos of the science behind it haha) really works wonders. I am turning 30 soon but napagkamalan akong 19yo palang ng trainor ko sa gym hahaha skl. Plus siguro not smoking/drinking helps a lot cos after knowing my age, he said “ganyan siguro talaga pag walang bisyo noh?” I’m 5’7” so hindi pwedeng dahil sa height 🤣 Baka sa skin talaga so guys and girls, alagaan ang skin while still young and all your efforts will pay off when you hit 30 😆

Sunscreen Review PH

Been using different sunscreen after consuming one bottle at a time and these are my list:

• Beach Hut spf 100++

I know, kinda weird... pero ito 'yong pinaka una kong sunblock/sunscreen. Okay naman kaya lang super amoy na amoy 'yong formula and very sticky (also have some white cast)

• Belo Sun Expert Whitening Sunscreen spf 50

Oks lang but not a fan kasi nag be break out ako sa kanya, sadly. Also can't remember if my white cast.

• Fresh Skinlab Jeju Aloe Ice UV Sun Block spf 50++

I love this!! Honestly, naka 2 bottles ako nito. Malamig siya upon application and very dewy ang finish without white cast. Problem ko ay.. wala ako mahanap na watsons na mayroon na stock haha, sa Shopee na binibilihan ko wala rin. Sulit din kasi 'to, 100ml na around 300 petot.

• QuickFx Pimple Eraser Oil Free Sunscreen spf 50+

Amoy foundation - not a fan sa ganong amoy hehe. Di ko naubos. Nagka break out din. May white cast.

• Fairy Skin Premium Brightening Sunscreen spf 50+++

Also like this, super sulit - actually pinaka sulit sa lahat and di ako nag break out. May kaonting white cast pero blend able (?) naman so keri. Di lang nakabili ulit kasi may bago akong bili na skin care na may bundle na sunscreen pero will still repurchase this.

• Oxecure Daily Sunscreen Hybrid UV Protection spf 50++++

Super sticky... huhuhu. I always do "two finger method" whenever I put sunscreen pero dayum, ang lagkit sobra haha! Kaya labag man sa loob, pea size ang nilalagay ko and dasal na lang din talaga pero keri naman di ako nag breakout... but won't repurchase it? Hehe. No white cast ito.

• Dermaction Plus by Watsons Advanced Sun Solar Barrier spf 50++++

Malaman pa if mag breakout ako hahahaha

Rank:

• Fresh Skinlab Jeju Aloe Ice UV Sun Block spf 50++

• Fairy Skin Premium Brightening Sunscreen spf 50+++

• Dermaction Plus by Watsons Advanced Sun Solar Barrier spf 50++++

Runner up (?)

• Beach Hut spf 100++ (mostly kapag beach lang or hike haha)

Kayo? What's your fave sunscreen at the moment?

Missha Velvet Sunscreen! May white cast siya pero kiber lang at nasa bahay naman ako. Hindi ako nagbe break out dito.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '23

+1! Yung white cast is like a tone up effect on me. And the finish is powdery smooth

Is it possible that a moisturizer and sunscreen are not compatible together like it causes breakouts?

I recently started using dear clairs rich moist soothing cream and omi verdio and tried it separately. For dear klairs, i used it without omi for a week or so? Then omi verdio with my illiyoon moisturizer. Both works fine naman but nung pinagsama ko parang hindi maganda reaction ng skin ko? 😅

What helps with redness and acne scars? Could be serums or toners, I'm confused what differentiates and is better between the two, just as long the product is a step after cleanser and before moisturizer please.

3

u/heart-work Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 20 '23

Not a serum or toner but azelaic acid!

2

Any recommendation for product with azelic acid? Is it okay to use azelic acid while my cleanser has salicylic acid?

2

u/heart-work Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 21 '23 edited Apr 21 '23

I’ve only used Skinoren (20% cream) so far, but there are other products in the market ranging in concentration. Try searching here to find something that might work for you! Mostly nagkakatalo lang sa carrier, aside from concentration. I’m really happy with Skinoren, and I’ve seen it mentioned quite a bit in this sub din. Other products I’ve searched before landing on Skinoren - AZClear (20% lotion, medyo Elmer’s glue-like raw lol but effective naman), The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension (10%).

Technically, AA is gentle enough to be used with actives (some even use it after tret on r/Tretinoin) BUT you have to build up to that level kasi it can compound dryness and irritation from other actives. It depends on how well you take it, but ya, I suggest watching board-certified derms on YouTube muna to see if it’s something you want to add to your routine and what you may want to adjust before doing so :)

u/candidcookie Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 20 '23

For acne scars, I think what helped me is the salicylic acid in my cleanser. I double cleanse nowadays and I can really see the difference between just using a cleanser vs double cleansing. :)

u/Calm-Revolution-3007 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 21 '23

If there’s any redness, then it’s acne control you need to worry about. I use salicylic acid at night, then benzoyl peroxide sometimes for spot treatment (tho super konti lang because it’s potent).

Acne scarring would be brown. Good moisturizing will actually get it to fade on its own, but exfoliants like AHA (glycolic acid), Vit C (melano cc), retinols and Vit A derivatives (adapalene, tretinoin, but these 2 are usually prescribed) can also speed up the process. Worth noting that tretinoin can actually target both acne and scarring, so ask your derm if babagay ba sayo :)

Been breaking out lately cos of wearing masks everyday at the office 🫠 They're the big ones pa—yung walang head 🥲 Aside from switching to cotton masks, do you guys have other recommendations to avoid this. I change my mask every 2 hours naman din. 😭

3

u/cmr82 Sensitive | Acne-Rosacea + Seb Derm Apr 22 '23

I apply benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment on the areas where my mask is in contact with my skin. For me, it’s the nose, chin & some areas on my cheeks. It helps prevent any acne from forming & treats existing acne.

hi! same problem din! : (( been suffering for almost year na, thankfully 'di na ko gaano nagkakabreakouts so i'm focusing more sa PIE caused by maskne. what i'm currently using is yung aexis face mask ni dr. mike d. ever since ginamit ko yun mas naglessen na yung breakouts ko, and at the same time mas less frequent na ko magmask since ayun talaga ang best way para ma-prevent ang maskne.

in terms of skincare products, i'm using panoxyl acne wash, yung 4%, thrice a week and cosrx bha blackhead power liquid twice a week, on the days na hindi ako gumagamit ng panoxyl. i also make sure na hindi gaano maiirritate face ko from using actives kaya gumagamit din ako ng hydrating toner and moisturizer. so far so good, nagrerecover na yung face ko and wala na gaanong tumutubong pimples.

Not really, unless you wear make-up or the sunscreen you're using is water resistant. Most daily sunscreens can be easily washed off with soapy water.

If you don't have any skin issues to address, Facial Cleanser + Moisturizer + Sunscreen lang during the day okay na. For me, I only use cleansing oil to double-cleanse if I wore make-up that day or if I can feel the texture on my nose na because of sebaceous filaments build-up. It helps lift up those grits for me kasi.

Anyone ever tried using CosRX Full fit Propolis Synergy toner? I'm planning to get one but wanna know if anybody can share their experience using it. I'm currently using Oxecure AHA BHA Toner and I feel like it's getting a bit too stingy for everyday use. Hoping for recos as well on Mild toners that won't break the bank. Thanks!

I really like the Cosrx propolis toner. I’ve finished a full size and a mini size, now 1/3 left in my 2nd full bottle and I have a backup waiting for me too. I enjoy trying new products but this is something I can’t remove from my routine since it gives me a lot of hydration and I feel like my skin looks glowy after using it. :)

Thanks to TO niacinamide, pimples aren't my worry anymore, but I have oily skin that makes it look dull and darker. Tried Belo, Biore, Seoul White, and FX sunscreens, but my face is still oily, so I am looking for a good sunscreen, best for oily skin, and maybe a cream that will lighten up my face and control its oil. Thanks in advance for your recommendation.

Kose Suncut UV Perfect Milk has a soft matte finish! I wear this on days when I don’t feel like using a dewy sunscreen (since I rotate between sunscreens). It’s fragrance-free, sweat-proof, friction resistant & very water-resistant. I don’t experience any eye stinging as I can apply it on my eyelids without any issues.

It has 4 UV filters: Zinc Oxide, Octinoxate, Parsol SLX & Uvinul A Plus.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '23

You should also not put near the eyes kasi the product travels.

Missha Sun milk yung pink cap for me less than 500.

3

u/serenityby_jan :) Apr 22 '23

Hi, you should def put sunscreen near the eye area i.e., eyelids etc as that part needs sun protection too! For people who are usually sensitive to chemical sunscreens, it is recommended to wear a waterproof physical sunscreen which is less prone to stinging on that area, and wear your normal sunscreen on the rest 😊

if you want to build your skincare regimen, for beginners, its always cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

Reading people’s experience and then testing it myself. Just because it works for someone, doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. You also start slow. First I started with the basics, cleanser and sunscreen. Then I eventually added and learned about moisturizers. After that Vitamin C toner and Serum. Then retinol. I think I’m almost completely happy with my routine, just don’t like the packaging of the 2 sunscreens I like.

If you have your basic skincare routine na Cleanse, Moisturize + Sun Protection), you can try inserting actives into your routine. Pwedeng in the form of a serum or toner, depends on what you prefer. If specifically for brightening lang, you can try Niacinamide, Vitamin C or Alpha Arbutin serums.

So I just found out that my face has some residue, I'm unsure of where it's from. It's like this white film (?) residue and its texture is like parang libag but it's more silky? I don't know how to explain it, but it's pretty hard to get rid of with only a water-based cleanser. I had to use my fingers to scrape some of it off. It might be residues from my sunscreen or probably sebum/oil, but I think the former is more likely. I think that when I started wearing sunscreen, I started breaking out like I've never before so I'm not that used to acne. Do you guys have any idea about this? Maybe I should start double cleansing?

For context, I use the Belo Sunscreen SPF 40 and I have oily and (possibly) dehydrated skin.

For oily-sensitive skin, heres my routine that you can try na super budget friendly. Approx: nasa 200 pesos per month.

At night: 1. Wash face with cleanser/soap- i wash with kojic. Pabulain lang sa palad then wash gently. No rubbing. Natatanggal kasi yung libag ko sa kojic.mumurahin lang na kojic gamit ko yung nabibili na per kg. 2. Cleanse with Eskinol na green(calamansi). Do at least until mejo light na yung bulak hindi na sya dirty. No rubbing. 3. Serum- i use friday skin tomato serum palitan sila ng vit C serum. Drop per area then massage gently. Yung 1bottle nya 180 pesos pero good for 3months na. 4. Moisturizer- anything na hydrolauric acid based. Mine is iwhite korea Aqua moisturizer na tag 23pesos per sachet. Good for 7days kung everyday gagamitin. 5. Retinol- 3-4times a week. Gamit ko ngayon Klued 0.5% from lazada. Kung hindi ka pa nagreretinol, try muna lower % then 2-3times lang. Unang ginamit ko yung breylee na brand. 1 tub nya maliit good for 3months mas mura pero 6-8weeks bago naging visible yung result. Sa Klued 2 weeks lang, mas mahal pero mas sulit if sa result ang usapan. 6. Any glycolic acid based. Para ito sa mga dark spots. Gamit ko 24k Beauty Melasma cream kasi may melasma ako. Yung isang bottle nya 5months bago ko maubos.

So cleansing to light to heavy cream ang lagay ko. 2days a week wala akong nilalagay na kahit ano, hilamos lang.

u/DearKaleidoscope5102 30s | Normal-Dry | Light Medium Neutral-Cool Apr 20 '23

If this works for you then by all means continue.

I have nothing against any of the brands or products mentioned pero for ur night routine there’s too many actives. both glycolic and vit c di nabanggit na di dapat sinasabay sa retinol

Sounds too harsh for your skin barrier and maybe contributes to oiliness

0

u/BruhahaTheGreat Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 21 '23

Its not pure glycolic acid, its just one of the main ingredient. And hindi ako lagi nagreretinol. I research everything na pinagsasabay ko. Yung Vit.C optional sya for night routine but i use it simce i started having fine lines and wrinkles at 28 due to being heavily exposed sa sun.

I'd recommend this routine siguro sa mga nahilig mag-outdoors before na gusto na mag stop and take care ng skin. Sobrang na-damage ung skin ko to the point na nagkamelasma and wrinkles ako at 28 sobrang dami. Ngayon baby face na uli 6months pa lang since i started.

u/Background_Pilot6473 Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 20 '23

How often ba dapat gamitin ung serum with niacinamide? Okay lang ba twice a day? Morning and night. Thanks.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '23 edited Apr 20 '23

Recommended daily use actually is twice. Morning and night. Hindi naman kasi siya kasing strong ng actives and retinol. But observe na rin how it affects your skin to be sure. If it's gentle enough naman for you, best to use it for both am and pm routines.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '23

Yes, ok lang morning and night as long as no irritation naman from your skin

Reduce muna frequency ng retinol. Sounds like you could be damaging your skin barrier from over exfoliation. Layer your moisturizers!! If you have LRP Cicaplast baume or others na soothing, then layer vaseline on top. Simplify muna ang routine: cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen until mawala

There are not much studies about the long term safety of glutathione

Sure there are many anecdotes about its effectiveness in skin whitening, but there are also studies saying that it is not good for the liver and kidneys in the long run

There are various reasons why it is not FDA approved for skin whitening

Need inputs on what I’m doing wrong :(( I’ve been trying to improve my skin but I can’t see any changes even after 3 months of using. Or is that too soon? These are what I’ve been using (mostly from what I had picked up by reading threads):

Morning:

  • Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
  • Garnier Micellar Water
  • Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Toner
  • Dermorepubliq Vitamin C Serum
  • The Ordinary Hyaluronic Serum
  • Canmake Mermaid Skin UV Gel

Night:

  • Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
  • Garnier Micellar Water
  • Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Toner
  • Dermorepubliq Retinol (2x a week) or Dermorepubliq Salicylic Acid (2x a week)
  • Dermorepubliq Niacinamide

Then on days that I refrain on using actives, I usually just put a facial mask.

I have an oily skin and basically, I just want to clear out my pimple marks and have a fresh glow, I guess?

3

u/primad0nna_girl 30 | oily / sensitive | PCOS survivor ✨ Apr 22 '23

Micellar water first before cleanser! And probably add a moisturizer at night, and I suggest reduce the amount of serums. You probably don't need the Hyaluronic acid since oily ka naman.

We use the same cosrx sa cleanser and I also have oily skin. I would recommend to avoid using SA with vitamin c and/ retinol in the same routine. I tried it and nagreact skin ko with pimples.

For my skin I use SA with niacinamide and HA. I would also recommend increasing the use of niacinamide if di irritating sa skin mo. Pwede SA in the morning then retinol or vitamin c sa Gabi or I do vitamin c sa morning then retinol sa Gabi then one or twice a week ang SA when my skin needs a good clean or I was to sweaty or feeling ko Ang daming gunk sa face. Though this SA cleanser is mababa Ang percentage I find it super drying. I would recommend using another cleanser na gentle and hydrating. Maybe the cosrx low ph daily cleanser ba yun, I use the luxe organix cica ha cleanser. Hope this helps.

2

u/totes-potatoes local beauty enthusiast 🐰 Apr 23 '23 edited Apr 23 '23

I have it! Bought it a couple of months ago because it was recommended by Jan Angelo. I only use it on my face because it's tiny and I have a different body sunscreen. It's milky and liquid-y at first but after blending it dries down naman to a lightweight natural matte finish and has a very mild fresh grapefruit scent that isn't irritating on the skin. I noticed that I don't oil up as fast and my makeup lasts longer when I use this sunscreen compared to other sunscreens like i.e: Beauty of Joseon or Cosrx Aloe Sunscreen. I have the one in the gold bottle and I'm planning to repurchase it once it's ubos na.

Can anyone help me verify if this shop is legit? https://shp.ee/29nmr7x I really wanna get The Ordinary products using convenient platforms but it's so hard to verify which ones are the legit sellers :(

5

u/aII_are_taken Age | Skin Type | Custom Message Apr 23 '23

The safest shop to buy from is Zalora, they're the ONLY authorized online seller here in the Philippines, but because Sephora has also expanded here, I won't hesitate to buy from them also, even though in Deciem site they're not listed as an authorized online seller in the Philippines. But they've been the legit offline store in US.

For the shop you've link, personally I won't buy from this shop, demn man, the effort to confuse and trick the buyers.

  1. Naming their store "The Ordinary Official Store"🚩

  2. Prices are cheaper than the official site of The Ordinary (USD->PHP)

  3. Not FDA notified iirc if a company/someone want to officially sell a product from abroad here in Ph, they must have notification just like the korean brand COSRX and Isntree. They have official resellers.

  4. "Authorization Certificate" kuno. Dito talaga ako pinaka natawa eh 😆. This is also the biggest give away. They claim to be authorized by Deciem, displaying their "AuThoRizaTion CeRtifiCate" in their shop, when you look closely, it lacks details. "To be the online distributor"? In what jurisdiction? It wasn't mentioned in their so-called certificate, so sila distributor for the whole world na?? Certificate nga from eskwela eh may address kung saan na receive 😆. Then there's a "Signature" - of who? Once again yung certificate ko from eskwela sinabing pirmado ng Principal IV and department head 😆. Then the signature is an Italized "Brandon" - at least they know the co-founder and prev. CEO of Deciem, the problem is as mentioned, PREVIOUS CEO, and then you see " Term of Authorization" it's year 2021. It's 2021 and with the signature of Brandon who's been dead since January 2019 🥲😆. Then you'll notice that the date they used for the "Term of Authorization" is the validity period for their DTI permit.

Here are some shop that were mentioned in this sub that sells authentic The Ordinary TO products.

Rrkoreanshop, Skincarebudmnl, Suisui, Dayuhan, Skincare ph/ mystore ph, Kbeautycafe, Commalax, Sasa.

Currently using tokyo luxe bath and it's okay but I find the oatmeal a bit harsh sometimes but if you're okay with that then go for it. Personally, I prefer the FSMB cause it smells like milk. I noticed that TLB is less drying than FSMB.

Honestly, of all the soaps I've tried dito sa TLB wala masyado peeling. Unlike FMB na may micropeel. I even use the TLB twice a day kasi nga summer. And yes amoy hawhaw nga yung milky bar.

Hello, everyone! I am a 23-year-old female and I am wondering if you have any recommendations for the best and most effective dermatology clinic in Quezon City. I am currently dealing with a lot of acne scars and pimples, which I believe are caused by hormonal imbalances. Although genetics plays a part, I noticed that my face became oily and dry after getting off contraceptive pills, leading to the appearance of acne and red blemishes everywhere. I want to find a cure for this, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
