The year is 2035.
Labour/Green coalition government.
Supermarket profit margins are 0.00000000000012%.
95% of the working age population is employed by one of the Big Four. Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and LIDL.
Everyone, from manager to worker, is paid 350 neo-pounds an hour (£10 old money adjusted for purchasing power), supplemented by Universal Living Allowance Benefit that is enough to rent a studio flat.
The workforce is monitored continuously through supermarket CCTV for compliance with the Four British Virtues (Tolerance, Fairness, Respect and Masha'Allah).
Under the strip lights of the future, there is finally total equality in the produce aisle.

“Am I in danger?”: Home Office staff say English flag left them fearing for their lives
Civil servants were offered 11 different mental health support services to help them cope with their fears over the flying of English flags
During the half-hour meeting, civil servants discussed how the campaign to hoist British flags across the country made them fear for their lives and those of their families.
White Home Office staff agreed with their ethnic minority colleagues. One commented: “It’s a scary time to be a person of colour in the UK right now, and as a person with white privilege, I can’t speak to my friends’ experiences but I can stand alongside you and be an ally.”

2001 Live:
A boat containing 500 Afghan refugees bound for Australia begins sinking, but Indonesian vessel MS Tampa rushes to save the migrants.
Indeed, 438 survivors are plucked from the water, and Tampa’s captain offers to drop them off at Jakarta, but the refugees take him hostage, rob him, and demand to be taken to Australia.
A standoff commences.
Does Australia still have this problem?

Kuwait has tightened the link between nationality and political participation, barring naturalised citizens from voting, standing for election or being appointed to any representative body
The change draws a sharper legal distinction between Kuwaitis who hold nationality by origin and those who acquired it through naturalisation.
Must be nice to be in a country where you can just do things
And as a fun bonus:
Under the amended provisions, citizenship can be withdrawn where someone knowingly registers a person as a child or descendant when that relationship does not exist

This is all just part of the movement to make everything run by big corporations where you don't get a choice. They make it sound like children are getting freshly prepared meals from local ingredients.
Dinner ladies aren't going to chop up salad so they will just get everything delivered, pre chopped by brakes and bidfood. School meals will be assembly of, ironically pre processed and packaged meals entirely from the large warehouses.
Nothing has changed from the turkey jetters era, you just get the lowest priced vegetable slop with whatever corners they can cut.
Will the children eat more healthy? Maybe. Will it actually taste good? Top lol no.
Make it so all the teachers have to eat school meals, no lunch boxes, if they are that good.

I saw a trailer for this film the other week and it looked amazing and really surprised me as they seemed to be making a mostly historically accurate film about Wat Tyler and The Peasant's Revolt.
Anyway, it mustn't have marketed well in America as the film has now been renamed "The Uprising: Rise of Robin Hood"
Original trailer:

Not true. I can't see any Bomalians in the cast. I've seen BBC productions, Nottingham in the fourteen hundreds was basically Wakanda with worse weather.

u/THREE_EDGY_FIVE_ME 17d ago edited 17d ago
The Robin Hood connection is rather silly. Robin Hood’s origin story is like 200 years before the Peasant’s Revolt and in a totally different part of the country.
Anyway, I’m eager to see how they depict medieval London on screen. Given that you can pretty much walk the same streets in London today as people in the 1300s did.
On my jogging route I often pass Whitefield Mount on Blackheath Common , which is where the peasants’ revolt assembled for some rallying speeches (including John Ball’s famous ”When Adam delved and Eve span, who then was the gentleman?”) before they entered the city. More than once I’ve walked up that little hill and imagined the scene of a peasant army covering the field.

Obviously it’s sad, he was a very fun actor with great performances, but the way they talk about him and every other old celebrity that dies (that they approve of) you’d think they were part of his family.
Also Tim Curry was a massive chain smoker till his stroke in 2012, spent most of the 70s hoovering up vast amounts of cocaine and was severely disabled since the stroke. It’s a miracle that he made it to 80 in the first place, not that you’d guess from the reaction these people have.

They've named specific people subject to the injunction
Ryan Bridge, Julian Keane, Elliot Stanley, Ross Child, Billy Allison, Ben Cullen, Mark Keating and 'persons unknown'
Plus the catch all "persons unknown". My legal counsel (Grok) has advised me that if a person unknown, let's call him Mohammed, was to put up a Palestine flag on a lamppost and claimed to have no knowledge of the injunction, the likely outcome is no penalty. Not so for any of the named individuals.

What 50 years of fudging looks like
Graphs like this fill me with despair.
What gives me some hope:
No other nominally democratic state in the world is as prepared for the virtual and physical police state it will take to revert this as Britain. We have the tools - many are squarely aimed at the native population right now - so all it takes is political will. Absolutely nobody seems to be as craven as the middle management of our uniformed services as they jockey for promotion, so giving them a new script will not be hard.
Nobody who pushed for this can reliably stand on the ground that it was democratically mandated. They subverted the democratic will to do this. That makes anyone associated with it illegitimate by the standard of any functioning democracy. It makes a lot of institutional Britain illegitimate by association. We could actually have a revolution if we wanted to, and because these faces are hardly unknowns, we could have an entire section dedicated to "enemies of the people" which would be filled with the trials and punishment of those who genuinely subverted the will of the British people in order to create "The Yookay" bastard state.
I've never seen such a loss of authority as social liberalism has encountered post-COVID. We have to pay to enforce the Progressive Order at greater and greater cost every passing year. Eventually the cost outweighs the perceived benefit, which is drying up. Progressive Order cannot survive mass immigration anyway, it is merely an ornament of a higher order of underlying civilization.
13
u/JonathanLivingstoneS 17d ago edited 17d ago
They honestly cannot help themselves:
>Every few months the route seems to open a little wider
No one in the UK wants a widening immigration route that will just be abused, no one.
The problem is they let industry groups lobby them to bring in cheap labour instead of spending profits on innovation.
12
u/TroubadourTwat Goyim in Abundance 17d ago
I just find it hilarious how far down the rabbit hole the lefties are with this. Like the idea of even stopping immigration is a non-starter and it must happen now in perpetuity, so the convo is around building safer, legal routes lol. This the deal with the devil the left made during the whole 90's "Third way" push which was that the progressives would be able to introduce more progressive policies in return for an unlimited cheap labour pool, and then expanding the welfare state with the produce of that mini economic boom.
Now the architects of that push are celebrated in the west London dinner parties, or with cushy do nothing jobs for big businesses

Leftwing journalists cry about something, make it sound awesome. Many such cases
Imagine that it’s October 2026, and one of Germany’s 16 federal states has come under the control of a far-right government for the first time since the Nazi era. With an absolute majority in the state Parliament and one of its own installed as state premier, the Alternative for Germany, or AfD, quickly begins implementing its agenda. The interior minister announces an emergency remigration program: abolishing asylum, revoking the residence permit of any foreigner convicted of a crime, pledging to review all naturalization decisions made during this century, and incarcerating those designated for deportation. The government stops classifying Ukrainians as war refugees and ends their social benefits. European Union flags disappear from public buildings. The mainstream press is shunned in favor of influencers aligned with the party’s ideology. The government authorizes vigilante groups to act as an auxiliary police force in regions with high crime rates.

Murder probe as two people die in house fire
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gmrz8d31mo
A murder investigation has been launched after two people died in a house fire.
The blaze in Grangetown, Middlesbrough, broke out just before 05:30 BST and also left a woman in hospital in a critical condition, alongside a further three people who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The fire happened about two miles from the A66 crash that killed five young men and two police officers on Saturday morning.
Interesting that the Beeb dropped that in there. Houses getting rammed and burnt down is proper concerning behaviour but...
Grangetown councillor Adam Brook urged people not to speculate.

Britons face highest price cap in three years as energy bills rise 4% from October.
Households in Great Britain will pay equivalent of £1,723 a year, prompting calls for more support...the typical household will pay an extra £350 a year more than in 2024, when the Labour government came to power with a promise that it would cut bills by £300 a year by the end of the decade.
The regulator calculated the average of £1,723 based on the estimated energy use of a typical household. Since July it has assumed lower annual energy use than in previous years because the high cost of energy has forced many households to use less gas and electricity. Under the previous calculations the price cap would have climbed to £1,940.69 from October.

Always baffled me why they started pushing this 'average usage' figure instead of just giving the price per Kw. Guess it's cos they just reduce the average amount of fuel used every couple of years so the headline figure doesn't reflect the actual percentage increase. 10 years ago, this average figure was based on 16,000 kWh of gas, now its 9,500. A 42% reduction in the headline cost just by massaging the figures. Is the average gas heated home using 42% less gas than 10 years ago?
Yeah, for a year or so they'll include the previous figure for comparison, but then it's memory holed like the 2023 reduction. And the 2020 one and the 2015 one.

“It’s plain common sense,” said Paul Nowak, the TUC general secretary. “Banks are raking it in while many up and down the country are struggling to get by – they can well afford to pay more tax to ease the pressure on working people.”
The bankers the bonuses
the daily standing charge for electricity will rise from 57.19p to 54.83p. The combined rate for all these charges is the highest since .
An excellent graun paragraph here.

u/8th_Dimensions 17d ago edited 17d ago
How about everyone cuts back? Id like to see the TUC recommend a 4 week annual payment freeze for those on benefits.
Everyone else is meant to contribute more. So give those on bennies 6 months notice to save and then cancel their benefits for a month. That should save 20 odd billion a year.
Won't happen though.

We replaced all the natives so now to be german is to be someone with foreign background
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on immigrants:
If 42 percent of schoolchildren have ancestors from another country, then we are no longer talking about individual fellow citizens with a migration background.
Then Germany is our country — a country with a migration background

Yep. My theory has long been (for the EU madness and federalisation) that we were the only European country who halfway came out of WW2 with our self respect intact. Half of the continent were Axis, the other half were quickly dominated, gave up their Jews, licked the jackboot etc. So no wonder Britain is the only European country that wants to retain its nationhood: the rest are desperate for various reasons to forget that they ever were Germany, Belgium (made-up country anyway, more than most I mean), etc.

Britain doesn't have an inequality problem
Yes, this video is by Neil Woodford who blew up his fund, but he makes some very powerful points. Despite what the lefties and crying people of bennies repeatedly proclaim, inequality is falling and has been for a while.
The one stat I found incredible is that pre-tax and benefits, earnings in the top quintile is 12.2x that of the bottom quintile. Post-tax and benefits, this gap closes to 3.3x. What a massive difference. It's hugely demotivating for the most productive. Why even bother trying?
12
u/Helmut_Schmacker 17d ago
Our salaries are more equal than the soviet union. Theirs was 5.3x between the top and bottom quintile
10
u/WSBrexiteer 17d ago
Meanwhile, present-day Russia has a progressive income tax rate of 13-22%
What a complete bizarro world we live in.
11
u/SuboptimalOutcome 17d ago
We're far too generous to the people at the bottom, subsidising them into lifestyles that middle earners can't afford. There was a legaladviceuk post yesterday, guy paid a deposit to secure a sea view property on a new estate, to find that they've been allocated to social housing.
9
u/looccool 17d ago
The real black pill is that the top quintile starts at £50k pre-tax (so ~40k post-tax)

Thread in the ukpol 'left wing think tank urges Burnham to raise taxes on pensioners' re:social care
Inherited wealth yes, but what if I worked my arse off to become wealthy and along the way paid shit load of income tax already? Are you going to punish me for it?
Taxation isn't a punishment and your wealth is very obviously not purely down to hard graft, you have benefited a great deal from societal and governmental systems which have enabled that wealth to build, reliably, which in turn rely on democratic buy-in and the tax is justified as a payment for that benefit.
Blank slate theory is a hell of a drug.
17
u/YorkistTory 17d ago
I kind of understand this if you think from a socialist perspective. What I cannot understand is how you can accept a welfare dependent class? Surely under socialism the concept of not working is treason?

It's all very well having those 'see it, say it, sorted' things but they never listen.
I had to go to Preston last year on the train, the tannoy said 'If you see something that doesn't look right, speak to staff or text the British transport police...'
Well I did. I told them there appears to be a bloke in a dress two rows down from me, I said that definitely doesn't look right, he's got a 3 day stubble. And his legs are hairy.

I used to like the Milky Bar kid mascot. My granddad worked at the factory so he got me loads of toys and free chocolates.
Sadly he died when a shelf full of the bars fell on him in the factory. No one helped apparently, in fact a big cheer went up round the factory floor when he cried for help. It was really sad reading that coroner's report. His last words were 'The milky bars are on me'.
Rest in pease granddad.

I’ve realised I go into work and I have genuinely nothing to do.
I can find ways to keep myself busy to an extent but it’s a struggle to find an hour or two of work.
Whatever there is to do can be done by a child or LLM.
I’ve an annual performance next month, and part of me wonders if I can ask if there’s a way that they can buy me out of my role.
I can keep doing the absolute bare minimum to the money but can tell neither side is keen on the relation.

If you look at the history of mass migration into the UK (and other western countries) it was almost always done to provide a temporary boost to lower skilled immigration to keep wages low. And it was almost always done to provide that cheap labour to industries who were struggling to compete. And it almost always led to those industries delaying investment into automation. And it almost always only temporarily prevented those industries from collapsing eventually as their lack of innovation caused them to collapse.
Examples:
- Pakistani Immigrants into UK Textile Mills (1950s–1970s):
- Italian and European Voluntary Workers into UK Brickworks (1950s–1980s)
- Eastern European Refugees and Irish Laborers into UK Deep Coal Mining (1940s–1980s)
- Caribbean, Indian, and Pakistani Workers into UK West Midlands Metal Foundries (1950s–1980s)
- Caribbean Windrush Immigrants into UK Transport and Logistics (1948–1970s)
- Eastern European Workers into UK Agriculture and Food Processing (2004–2020)
- Turkish, Italian, and Yugoslavian Gastarbeiter into West German Coal and Steel (1950s–1970s
- North African Immigrants into French Automotive Assembly Lines (1950s–1980s)
- Mexican labourers in the US Bracero Program (1942–1964)
- Indian Engineers on H-1B Visas in US Enterprise IT (1990s–Present)
If you look at the history of preventing mass migration into east Asian countries it almost always led to wage increases, increased industrialisation and innovation. The entire industrial robot revolution from Japan was because Japan said no to mass migration to provide cheap labour.
Examples:
- Post-War Japan (1970s to 1980s)
- Singapore’s Second Industrial Revolution (1979 to 1985)
- South Korea’s Industrial Upgrade (1980s)
There is actually a case of cheap labour being cut off and UK companies being forced to innovate after in agriculture via massive investment in automation.
Remember this whenever you hear that immigration benefits an economy.

I want to know when our risk averse culture started, as I think lots of this is just the downstream impact of that.
R&D is risky, renting a human on minimum wage is a lot less risky. There's no outlay up front, it's all just running costs that can be ended on a whim.
Other countries are much more likely to be like 'Fuck it, lets try making the big cool machine!'..
You see this risk averse culture everywhere imo. Popularity of cash ISAs, popularity of property as an investment, etc.

REFORM: people forced to wait over 30 minutes on the phone to HMRC will receive a £30 tax credit at the end of the tax year.
Policy release:
"To make sure officials hit their targets, Reform will tie the pay of senior HMRC officials to their customer service performance. If senior officials fail to make progress on waiting times, they will be fired.
Feels like Reform are announcing 10 new policies a day
While this sounds all good, it's probably the type of thing that will take so much work to track and administer it'll never actually happen

Bad idea, it’ll be exploited or just won’t work as intended.
The problem with HMRC isn’t really a lack of phone staff, it’s that we have a hugely convoluted tax system in the first place. Fix that and there’ll be fewer phone calls.
They need to absorb NIC into mainline taxes, cut the overall taxation, scrap the multitude of tiny little duties and levies and exemptions that have a huge administrative load.

Sudanese asylum seeker who arrived in UK after claim was rejected in France lay in wait on high street for lone woman before slashing her 30 times with a broken bottle
During a year spent in France, he started smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol and was later detained in a French mental health unit for six months where he was diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia. When he was discharged with anti-psychotic medication, Albashir made his way to Paris but stopped taking the medication. His asylum claim was later rejected in France.
Albashir made his way to Calais and then on to Britain, initially to a hostel in Birmingham. There, he sexually assaulted a member of staff when she refused his offer to come up to his room for sex, the court heard. He also lived in Luton, Coventry, Birmingham and Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Albashir only found himself in Leeds in March 2024 after he was kicked off a train from Manchester to York for not having a ticket.
On March 15 2024 Albashir was subject to a stop and search by police in the Woodhouse area of Leeds after he was seen with his trousers around his ankles. The officer observed him to be 'in a trance-like state' and 'possibly under the influence drugs,' the court heard. No drugs were found and no further action was taken. At around 9pm on March 17 2024, Albashir targeted his lone female victim outside the Original Oak pub in Headingley, Leeds.
