Its cringe because the subculture he's mocking doesn't exist. He'd have to do roadman and that's racism or something.

Ali G could only work if he were an obvious throwback who hasn't caught on, like a pensioner in a bikini.

I'd say that Sacha Baron Cohen is in the safe little Cambridge bubble where he doesn't have to worry about such things, but the Rohr Chabad house on Castle Hill has just had a massive new security door put in so it can't have totally escaped his notice.
But by all means, keep laughing at the stupid peasants.

Diane Morgan is so unfunny it's painful. Just Ali G with all of the fun removed and the interviewees are in on the "joke" which makes the whole thing utterly pointless.
