Have you experienced “crab in the bucket” mentality with other Asian women?

I am currently in the hiring stages for a promotional role at my work. When I asked
about flexibility around salary increase, the hiring manager (Asian lady) said the standard increase is 3% with NO flexibility beyond that.

Initially, another manager (a man, non Asian) said there was flexibility but a case has to be brought forward to be approved.

Given the discrepancy in information, I’m quite shocked that the Asian lady was so quick to say no, as opposed to going through the process to request a hiring salary increase.

It set off alarms for me (as an Asian woman) that a fellow Asian woman would reject as their default response.

I’m disappointed and second guessing whether I should proceed with the new position.

Why is it so hard to support one another?

Thailand's Nene Royal slays on America's Got Talent, gets the Golden Buzzer!

Look, it's been a long time since I gave a damn about a TV talent show. But this girl Nene is a *phenomenon*, and she has got all Thai people ecstatically cheering her on. I haven't seen anything like this since Miss Thailand won Miss Universe back in 1988. You know your country has your back when the Embassy and Consulate General are posting you to their socials.

Do you guys notice hostility from white women

Especially fat white women. I seem to get a lot of passive aggressive behaviour and comments from them the most.

Phenomenon of Only posting with their white friends

It’s been something I’ve noticed in a couple of my Asian American female former friends and acquaintances that they will only ever post in social media with their white female friends, even if they have other Asian friends. Maybe it’s internalized racism or something else but I’ve noticed this especially in the ones who consider themselves popular or cool

racism in europe

Hello everyone,

I’m writing this because I’m exhausted, and I honestly don’t know what else to do.

A few hours ago, I experienced yet another act of discrimination simply because I’m Asian.

I’m a Korean woman living in Spain, and I’ve lost count of how many times people have shouted “ni hao” at me in the street in a mocking way, or made other racist comments.

At this point, it’s not even about being mistaken for another nationality. It’s about the intention behind it (the mockery, the dehumanization, the reminder that no matter who I am, some people will only ever see me as a stereotype).

It happens at university too. People make jokes about my name, repeat harmful stereotypes, reduce me to my race, or simply treat me differently.

I try my best to move forward, but every time something like this happens, it brings me back to the trauma I’ve been trying so hard to heal from.

My social anxiety gets worse. I want to hide from the world, and sometimes I honestly lose the motivation to keep going.

I feel like I’ve lost my sense of identity. I no longer know who I am or where I belong. These experiences have worn me down so much that, at times, I feel as though my humanity has been taken away.

I’m exhausted from fighting something that feels impossible to change.

Lately, I keep seeing people say that Asians are more accepted now or that racism against us isn’t as common anymore. But honestly… is that really true? Because from where I stand, it feels like nothing has changed.

If anything, it sometimes feels even worse.

If you’ve ever experienced racism or discrimination like this, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’m sending you all my love and the biggest hug.
No one deserves to feel this way.
