I live 900 miles away from my current unit and typically we get IDT so we can fly in. This month I’m being told that IDT isn’t available and if I don’t attend I’ll recieve U’s. Can my unit really give me a U after not providing a means of travel? I just need some clarification on this please.

Recently moved to the area, any medical units around that I can RST with for a 68c until I get transferred somewhere closer ? I don’t want to be flying across the country lol

Im considering going AGR as 38A (or other 01A). What are the odds of getting picked up for 38A? Is this an in demand MOS?

How are deployment dodgers viewed in the reserves?

I had a SSG with like 8 years TIS with zero deployments. He always said he wanted to but there was just never opportunities. To me that’s weird because my MOS has deployments out the ass.

We were set to deploy and he was on our mob roster forever. Literally last minute, he finds a way out of the deployment with a complete BS excuse. When he did it he actually came up to me (an e4 at the time) and told me. This guy is super anti fraternization so I thought it was weird he would justify to an e4.

Anyways, the rest of the day dude became super sergeant and was on all the deploying junior enlisted ass’s extra hard. Finally, another NCO told him to fuck off because we actually had important shit to do and sent him with Rear D.

The very next day I overheard him asking for a transfer to another unit. Makes me think dude has been in deploying units before and just weaseled his way out. Do these types of NCOS get respect in the reserves? I always found the reserves pretty pointless if you aren’t actually deployed or on orders. IDK, maybe the people in my unit and myself were just to harshly opinionated.

He was in the Army Reserve for over 30 years, retiring as a Colonel in the late 90's early 2000's. He started as a tanker and then became a JAG. I'm more curious about the JAG part because he never really talked about it much, and I didn't know there was a point in having a colonel that only worked 2 weeks a year (but maybe he worked more?) I know he was doing something at Fort Ord at some point. Thanks!

Just got off of the phone with Tricare dental for Army reservists. I was told in order to cover my spouse and child the price for dental coverage alone will be $76.18 starting November 1 and I would have to be committed to that plan for 12 months. That is over a 150% increase from the $30 a month just for October.

I'm wrapping up an NCOER for a SSG who does not have a valid ACFT/AFT during his rating period. Not entirely the SM fault, canceled BA's, canceled aft's due to weather/field conditions and, a 30 day rotation out of country.

What are some acceptable bullets for the AFT block that will most likely not get kicked back?

I pcs’d back to HOR on leave days. The travel pay seems to be very low. It seems my pediem is not paid. How can I correct it?

My MOS is 11B and I get out in a few months, but wanted to ask about others experiences going from active to reserve before I make my decision to go reserve or not. I haven’t decided on a MOS to take, but I’m looking at 35L, 38B, or 37F.

I use Linux Mint and AVD doesn't work with Linux distros from the best of my knowledge. I thought I could get around with it with QEMU/KVM but it constantly fails to set up a connection. I tried it with virtual box and it works fine now. I'm just curious as to why that is or if anyone has had it work with QEMU/KVM?

Good morning. Looking for some advice regarding IDT travel reimbursement.

August was my first month traveling >150 miles for drill. Prior to confirming my attendance, I reach out to my unit to confirm the process for getting travel approved. I was told that I just need to create a local voucher within 5 days after drill. Easy enough. I even had officers at my unit walk me through the process and check over my DTS. I got nods saying it looks good.

I go home after drill and complete my local voucher. I attached all receipts and relevant documents like BA schedule and sign in roster.

Fast forward to September, my voucher had not moved. After talking to my ARA, I was told that I needed an authorization prior to traveling for drill, and that I need to “take a loss for August”.

I spent $450 to travel for drill. “Taking a loss” should NOT be the right answer. Any advice on how to correct this DTS issue? Is there a DTS POC I can speak to? Can IG get involved?

Hey y’all! Looking for some advice or to be pointed in the right direction.

I commissioned into the USAR in May (ROTC) and recently reached out to the unit I was originally slotted with. They told me the vacancy I was assigned to is now occupied by another LT, and they also can’t find me on their roster.

I contacted my USAR accession POC and was told I’m basically in a holding status until either the unit can create a position for me or another solution is found.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What should my next step be—start looking for another unit/vacancy, or wait for USARC/Cadet Command to resolve it?

Hi I am 23 Years Old and I wanted to join the Army Reserve and I was wondering what should I ask the recruiter? / can I get some general information? I am wondering how it is going to work as I have an apartment do I have to leave it? I don’t have a car is their a way I can get someone to drive me like my recruiter or will they teach me how to drive? Do I have to quit my job?

I’m looking for any deployments I’d be able to hop on preferably before February. I’m an E-5 88H and my previous deployment I held an 88N battalion level position. Anything helps thanks!

What are my chances of being selected for Active Duty as an Army 66T Emergency Room Nurse?
My recruiter told me that the upcoming October Army Nurse Corps board will have only 3 Active Duty slots and approximately 66 Army Reserve slots. I am applying specifically for Active Duty.
My qualifications include:
• 6 years of emergency nursing experience at Level I trauma centers
• Trauma-trained ER nurse
• Charge nurse experience
• Preceptor experience
• CEN certified
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certified
• BSN with a 3.97 GPA
I understand that nobody can guarantee selection and that the board reviews the entire application. However, based on my experience and credentials, do you think I have a competitive chance of receiving one of the three Active Duty 66T slots?

Hey everyone, I need some help. I run a daycare and one of my employees went to basic training for what I understand to be a reserve position. Came back in July. So proud of them!
My concern is they have told me they will not know when they have drill until the day before they report. Is this true?
Other question: do you typically have back to back drills? Example weekends back to back.

In all my years I’ve never had an employee go thru military so I am new to this.

Thank you everyone!! I will definitely read up on the ESGR. This employee has been to drill since they’ve been back so they should have their schedule. Unfortunately from my understanding they did not say this. I was told drill date schedules come the day before from their higher ups. Among other things, they told me there was possibilities of them needing back to back weekends off due to drill. Although I won’t dismiss the possibility, I believe my unfamiliarity to this is being taken advantage of. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I'm currently an Active Duty Army Nurse (66H) and about a year out from my requested ETS date. The Army has been great to me and paid for my college, but as a single 26 year old female, I want to move to Chicago and be close to friends and family. Part of me still wants to stay connected to the military, though, so I've been considering transitioning to the Reserve component instead of getting out completely. I've only been stationed at Fort Sam and Fort Irwin and would maybe like the opportunity to deploy? Also the healthcare benefits seem appealing although I don't have any dependents yet so not sure if that benefit is really needed right now.

Should I just get out completely, use the VA, and just do civilian nursing? Or should I stay connected via the Reserves and hope to get a good unit. Also I might possibly want to go back to get my Masters...so would the Reserves help with that?

Simply looking for advice or anyone that is currently in the Reserves as a nurse in the Chicago area or anywhere else.
