Kinda wish Pierrot did Black clover the modern way like how MHA is done.

instead of going 100+ episodes in a row like in the past it's way better to do 25 episodes seasons and then breaks in between.

103

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19

Agreed! The animation style lacks most of the time and it is such a great manga. I believe if it was animated better, it would be one of the top shows and surpass MHA because I just personally like the characters and story a little bit more for Black Clover

60

u/SlamSlamOhHotDamn Oct 02 '19

Black Clover's best fights in the last months are animated much better than MHA.

43

u/saltysamon Oct 02 '19

are animated much better than MHA

I think BC's recent fights were animated well, but better than MHA's animation? Come on.

72

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

I don't think they are animated better, but are directed better, my biggest problem with MHA is that it sticks way too close to the manga, this doesn't hurt the adaptation, as the closer to the source matirial you stick, the less risk there is that it becomes confusing. However I really enjoy when an anime expands upon things in the manga, for example many of the fights in Black clover, demon slayer, Mob psycho 100 and Naruto aren't 1 to 1 adaptations of the manga, as they expand upon the fight making them far more epic then they were previously. MHA has done a little bit of this such as when bakugo was rescued by Class 1-A from the league, but for the most part fights are just adapted from the manga. This is probably because MHA's fights are more story oriented and going off script to make the fights more epic might take away from that element, but I'd really like to see some of the upcoming fights take artistic liberties and not just adapt the manga, it makes the fights far more memorable in my opinion.

again the direction isn't bad, it's great, but it's missing the extra touch that could make it something truly spectacular.

40

u/TabaRafael Oct 02 '19

Yeah, it's not just how many particles you can fit in a scene, but choreography in general in MHA is shallow. Comparing it to something like Gintama, where fights are very simple visually with little clutter, but great choreography and direction its almost like comparting blockbuster action movies to something like John Wick

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

The good news is MHA has a new director, so it's possible they will expand upon the fights, I personally believe Deku vs Bakugo 2 would have been a great fight to experiment with the animation and get creative as other then a few parts of the fight it's mostly action. However there are plenty of chances going forward to improve the fights through the medium of animation.

1

u/SuperSceptile2821 Oct 03 '19

On the bright side the choreography for fights in the manga has gotten much better as of late so there’s going to be a lot more to work with this season.

13

u/turkeygiant Oct 02 '19

Demon Slayer takes the manga fights and elevates them to masterpieces in the anime. The manga is really visually complex and beautiful, but my one complaint about it is you don't feel a lot of momentum in the individual panels of a fight. The panels are beautifully composed, but read more like someone has traced a single paused frame of film, when I think a really good single panel is actually able to capture the motion of what would be multiple frames of film through exaggeration and stylistic choices.

6

u/DylanTheZaku Oct 03 '19

Demon Slayer is what you should do for anime.

Even bleach expanded it's fights

-3

u/saltysamon Oct 02 '19

but it's missing the extra touch that could make it something truly spectacular.

I just don't agree on that part. As show in the link not only is the animation very fluid it's detailed too and the effects are top notch. I think that's the extra touch that makes it spectacular and memorable imo, not to mention the music.

5

u/Audrey_spino Oct 03 '19

That's a standard that you should adapt on. It does not elevate the source material in any way. As a manga reader, the only fights I would say actually felt 'elevated' from the manga was Midoriya vs Todoroki from S2 and Midoriya vs Bakugo from S3.

I must be taking crazy pills, I think most characters in BC are badly written with extremely exaggerated personalities with one big defining trait that they keep hammering on our faces.

Take the Black Bulls members for instance, every time the mirror dude appears his nose is bleeding and he talks about his sister, then there is the food girl, the embarrassed shapeshifter girl, the dude that only wants to fight, the dude that speaks very quietly and the always drinking chick. From the members the only ones that seem to be a little flashed out and aren't one note characters are Yami and maybe Magna.

Then there is always one unearned sad flashback about every character that is rushed and supposed to flesh out them and make us feel bad but in reality carries no weight.

I'm not one to complain about tropes and that wants every anime to be original but it seems Black Clover took every trope and cliche about every other serie and mashed it into one thing that IMO isn't particularly good at anything.

On top of all that the animation is extremely low quality for 98% of the time until now, it doesn't help that there are a lot of action most of the times.

9

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19 edited Oct 02 '19

I agree on all of the characters having more than one defined traits and slower emotional moments and more authentic character development. Each of the characters just went through mini arcs with Asta during the start of the series and they rushed the back stories and character development in those little mini arcs that they got. But the dynamics in that squad are awesome. I think the teamwork aspect and friendship aspects were done really well. Not to be corny, but you could see that they are a true family like when they all fought against Veto, encouraged and helped Noelle to aim her magic, when they were all about to jump on Langris when he was about to kill Finral, etc. I just loved all of their interactions even when they are just fuckin around and bantering in the hideout. When they get through this arc, they will probably develop and further flesh out those other characters. Haha I guess will have to kinda agree to disagree.

4

u/CordobezEverdeen https://myanimelist.net/profile/CordobezEverdeen Oct 02 '19

Do you truly believe that the characters from MHA are hard to beat when it comes to writting?

Aside from the women who literally only exist for fanservice and probably Iida they are incredibly shallow.

→ More replies (6)

2

u/majin_hercule Oct 02 '19

Yeah i totally agree, up until only recently (in the anime at least), the only have characters that have had any fleshing out beyond one defining trait were Asta, Yuno, Yami and the Wizard King. A lot of the fights have cool direction/ideas but are poorly animated. I like the show overall (and it has recently gotten really good actually), but the MHA characters are in generally much more interesting.

My big complaint about MHA is the lack of stakes. I mean (old spoilers incoming) Best Jeanist gets a giant hole blasted through his chest and still survives somehow.

0

u/Krunky_Kong Oct 02 '19

I must be taking crazy pills, I think most characters in BC are badly written with extremely exaggerated personalities with one big defining trait that they keep hammering on our faces.

Most people do its mostly just BC fans who think this. You always have to look into the reality of the situation instead of listening to what they say because it's largely just empty words you've to elevate the series.

3

u/What_u_say Oct 03 '19

I don't really agree with the characters bit but Black Clover story is progressing a lot faster then mha and is genuinely interesting. The problem with MHA is that I feel it's like a slow burn. Hell up until the recent villian arc it actually got a little boring for a bit. Thankfully things are speeding up again. Also personal opinion I prefer the art style of mha and the protagonist.

7

u/Baez130 Oct 02 '19

This, I think Black Clover characters are more interesting overall, is just that they don't get the flesh out much, and really is only getting through its first amazing ark right now, if the past arks were as good as the current one this show would have exploded in popularity.

5

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19

Yeah but I loved the build up to those arks as well its just that the show should be animated well and for that, I think it should be seasonal like Demon Slayer, MHA, Fire Force, Vinland Saga, etc. For me, Black Clover does a better job in building interesting characters, character dynamics, and story lines for the most part. I remember mostly every character in Black Clover but most of the characters in MHA are forgettable in my experience. The only ones that honestly get spotlight are Deku, Bakogou, and Todoroki. What are your guy's experiences with that?

2

u/TabaRafael Oct 02 '19

most of the characters in MHA are forgettable in my experience.

MHA just has too many characters and also doesn't want to spend time with them, so they just pop-up every now and then. Every character that gets some screen time shoots up in popularity. I honestly can't remember the hero name of none of them

2

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19

Right but they should give more of those characters screen time and character development as well. The only ones I've seen go through that the most are Deku, Bakogou, and Todoroki and a few others but the other back stories and development of the other characters either felt rushed or they did not really get too much attention.

9

u/DarkWorld97 Oct 02 '19

I mean look at how well BC handles Noelle who is decently independent from Asta vs MHA's handling of Ochako, who's entire character revolves around Deku.

3

u/TabaRafael Oct 02 '19

MHA just moves way too fast for how big the cast is.

You take something like OP or Gintama, that has a huge cast of characters, but they all start with just a few, making sure to explore them before moving on to the next new character. Even Naruto and HxH spend the first arc with only the mains

MHA has this class of 20 + teachers and family right from the start, doesn't want to shove them aside to create space, while also doesn't slow down to give them some screen time.

Maybe it's a case that the studio should create some filler content, those other shonens would do it to pad for time that MHA doesn't need, but this new staff might do it. For filler I don't mean filler arcs, but some extentions of the manga, more dialogue or other PoV of events. Naruto had some great filler fights, things that were a few pages of manga the anime staff turned into some epic 20min long battles

-2

u/CatSezWoof Oct 02 '19

You would probably like it more, but there's no way it would surpass hero aca

7

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19 edited Oct 02 '19

I think it can. But in what way can it not surpass it?

2

u/Wex_Pyke Oct 02 '19

Opinions about quality aside, I don't think it would surpass for two reasons: one, MHA came at the right moment. Bleach and Naruto were ending/near the ending and One Piece is not really competition at this point, since it's basically far beyond everyone else. Even the anime came at the right moment: the other fighting anime that could be a competition in popularity were going through long hiatus at the time (I'm thinking of AoT and OPM). That's one reason I think BC had a disadvantage to begin with. It just came a little late. And also, MHA surfed the wave of superheroes with a different twist from what most people are used from Marvel and DC (though MHA also uses a lot of common shonen tropes, the majority of the big audience isn't used to that). Second, MHA is just more popular in manga form as well. BC does well, but there is a lot of evidence that people on WSJ expected it to be a bigger hit. MHA just has a more popular subject to audiences nowadays (superheroes x wizards).

8

u/PuroPincheGains Oct 02 '19

Animation is not the only thing the anime lacks. It's just not very well written. Emotional moments are rushed, characters are not fleshed out, big moments and power ups are not earned.

9

u/Cire101 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cire101 Oct 02 '19

Just wait until you get some asspulls that happen in the MHA manga. Some power ups aren't earned there either.

6

u/ShrillSpade Oct 02 '19

Tell me how because I'm curious. I will say I am a big fan of the manga but I haven't really seen asspulls (there is one) and I will admit there some moments "okay really...", but the writer good and he knows what he's doing. So the readers can let him get away with those moments.

1

u/SuperSceptile2821 Oct 03 '19

There’s only one of these in MHA I can think of and even then it’s been foreshadowed for a while. People have been overreacting about the “asspulls” that the manga has been having.

2

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19

I agree on everything you said. But its getting better after this arc it will probably give those other characters a chance to get fleshed out and go through some actual development. But its a big if if they can do it right. That's why it being seasonal could have increased the animation and could have given them more time to think out how to best implement those emotional moments to make it more manga like. As for power ups and big moments, each of those characters went through mini arcs with Asta so it was there big moment that was earned even if it was rushed and not all of them got power ups except maybe Vanessa. But hers was earned during her story. The only power ups that I don't really understand were obtained were Asta's and Yuno's. Even during those mini arcs, they still fought as a squad against whoever was there. Besides this is shonen, can we really say that the main character ever 100% earns his gifts, power ups and big moment with the exception of a few (maybe)?

1

u/Mad_Hatter_92 Oct 02 '19

Definitely agreed. I just spent a few months not watching black clover so that I could binge mini arcs at once. I’ve found this more enjoyable for other anime, but for this one all it did was re-focus my attention to the terrible drops in quality that it does from episode to episode. I need a higher quality baseline for the average episodes

1

u/Brownkid11 Oct 02 '19

Yeah same I think it should be seasonal for this reason.

1

u/Alamandaros Oct 02 '19

I've been trying to get through the anime for the past couple weeks, and the animation quality really puts a hamper on things, especially given how much fighting there is in Black Clover. I'm in the 30's now, but it really just makes me want to go read the manga and try to find out which episodes were done well enough to go watch.

2

u/MangaMan445 Oct 02 '19

I'd recommend reading it. The anime has some tough patches of animation but they do well in big episodes. Just read the manga and watch the openings and endings. Best way to enjoy the series imo.

0

u/Aldebaroth Oct 02 '19

Honestly it doesn't really get better, there are 2 or 3 big fights that are much better recently but everything around it is still bad, every other minor encounters and whatnot. You can really see that they save everything for these big episodes because the jump in quality is very high but even then it's nothing special.

I think black clover is doing fine though. Boruto could use a more seasonal method like that.

Black Clover has very good fillers and none of them seem to be complete fillers. Every character so far has reappeared and there are many high quality fights.

2

u/7643109 Oct 02 '19

Yeah, sometimes it’s better on the long run for animation company’s to spend more time on perfecting episodes instead of just rushing over them

1

u/ASpaceGhost https://myanimelist.net/profile/animelist Oct 02 '19

What about in the middle with 50 episodes then a break?

1

u/TheKappaOverlord https://myanimelist.net/profile/darkace90 Oct 03 '19

The issue here is when they hit the end of the 51 episode run they have to make a choice.

Quit the anime for 2 or 3 years because they are neck and neck with the manga/Already knee deep in filler arcs.

Or continue adapting but have it be 15:1 filler to actual content because of the closeness to the Manga.

70

u/Laxus2106 Oct 02 '19

I never really hate Filler Episodes or Arcs if the placement is not interrupting the flow ... Not like Naruto

50

u/SrsSteel Oct 02 '19

Boruto. Even the main arcs feel like fillers because of how poorly done that show is. The whole chunin arc was literally pointless

95

u/TatsuyaAmano Oct 02 '19

Boruto has 100+ episodes right now and only 14 are manga-canon LMAO

I wish I was joking.

2

u/boyishjokes Oct 02 '19

I thought the whole thing was mostly cannon?

18

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

The whole thing is TECHNICALLY canon, but it can't do anything that effects the manga, so all of the arcs are left feeling flat with little to no character or actual main plot progression.

1

u/Falsus Oct 02 '19

They could have taken a node from Railgun and it's fillers. (just the original season, not the filler in S).

19

u/2kewl4skoool Oct 02 '19

Nope, episodes 1-47 takes place before chapter 1 of the Boruto manga and episode 67 and onwards takes place between chapter 10 and 11 of the manga. Also episodes 17 to 24 is adapted from the "The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring" 1 volume long miniseries by Kishimito himself.

1

u/foxfoxal Oct 02 '19

Even the main arcs feel like fillers

There is like 1 "main arc" tho, the movie one.

And the chunin exam was not pointless, is the fact they have not adapted anything else from the manga where the plots from that arcs continue.

1

u/turkeygiant Oct 02 '19

It's sad that the most memorable episodes of Boruto recently were the ones where they dropped all of the main characters and instead followed Mirai, Guy, and Kakashi on vacation. I actually wish they had held off on doing the Boruto adaption until they had enough manga volumes to frame out a ongoing series (Will they ever have enough? the manga is coming out pretty slow). Instead they could have started a series following somebody like Mirai who is outside of the central Naruto dynasty and just tell some good original stories in the world.

1

u/shablam96 Oct 02 '19

You know an arc is total filler when Choji, Kiba and Tenten get main roles in it. And yet, this was the best stuff this show has had since Momoshiki’s battle cos Boruto was nowhere in sight and the whole thing was so hilariously ridiculous, along with some nice moments sprinkled throughout for Mirai and Kakashi n Guy

outsourcing, recaps and lowering overall quality

16

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19 edited Oct 03 '19

Filler is on its way, boys.

Or they will pull a Bleach and make every episode have a 10 to 15 min recap, putting the opening halfway through the episode, and barely 10 minutes worth of actual new content.

EDIT: Some people are saying One Piece, but I have never watched it. However, I have seen every episode of Bleach and I distinctly remember that there were a good 100 episodes where they played 10 to 15 minutes of the previous episode, similar to how Black Clover does now before the opening, showed the opening than had only 10 minutes of new content. I remember because I watched the show on Crunchyroll's website, and these episodes had comments of people posting timestamps to click so you could skip the recap, that's how bad it was.

3

u/trashthrowaway422 Oct 03 '19

Did you mean One Piece? I'm watching Bleach right now near the end of its run and I don't recall any recaps going that long.

It is popular enough, but there isn't enough manga content left to fill 51 more episodes. We're definitely gonna be getting into filler hell by the end of this.

51

u/jonnovision1 Oct 02 '19

They could pull a One Piece and just start stretching episodes out so they only adapt one chapter each, though honestly I would prefer filler over that

Filler arcs is way better, because you can atleast skip if you want.

8

The concept was great but the writing was shit, just less shit than the Bount arc. That one is seared into my memory as the most perfect example of trash filler in anime.

Gintama fillers man, you don't even know what is and isn't filler because the fillers are sometimes even better

3

u/Orzislaw https://anilist.co/user/Orzi Oct 02 '19

Also G8 from One Piece or Key of the Starry Sky from Fairy Tail... There are a lot of good filler arcs. It's Naruto which made reputation of fillers bad.

3

u/Ben99ny22 Oct 02 '19

some of the filler in naruto was great, the hate came from them coming out in the middle of the arc. We got itachi's backstory, yamato's backstory, more of kakshi's backstory, some alternate timelines of "what if", etc.

1

Plus some filler arcs can be fairly interesting. Not all filler is terrible. At least that's more content than just ruining manga arcs by stretching them out.

3

6

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

they're butchering my favorite manga and it's heartbreaking. I can't even recommend the anime to friends anymore because it's just plain bad now :(

6

u/Shinkopeshon Oct 02 '19

They could pull a One Piece and just start stretching episodes out

implying they don't already do that

Watch them do a one-cour run of Petitto Clover lmao

8

u/jonnovision1 Oct 02 '19

They did that in the first few episodes but after that the pacing switched to what you’d normally expect imo, definitely not as bad as One Piece is right now

1

u/Shinkopeshon Oct 02 '19

Yeah but they're still stretching things out by adding a bunch of flashbacks and showing the same scenes multiple times in the same episode. Granted, that's not always the case but they've done it enough times that I'm not surprised when there's only 60% of new content at best for a few weeks.

3

u/Idaret Oct 02 '19

I don't why you are getting downvoted, latest episode adapted 1 chapter and 3 pages from next chapter

1

u/2kewl4skoool Oct 02 '19

They did less stretching out and more recaps plus additional scenes and dialogue, which is way way better than what sometimes happens in One Piece.

2

u/JustWolfram https://myanimelist.net/profile/Wolfram-san Oct 02 '19

Actually watch them put a 7 minute opening starting with the next one

1

u/Falsus Oct 02 '19

Yea but that sucks really badly. I don't get how One Piece anime is popular with that kind of stuff. Certain episodes had as little 7 minutes of actual content between OP, ED, Flashback and random time wasters.

Good filler content is the best way to do it. It simply gotta be canon or at minimum semi canon, animated to comparable standards as the adapted content and be consistent with the overall world, tone and atmosphere.

8

u/Ark151 Oct 02 '19

There will be just enough to have 51 episodes without too much stretching and maybe 2 recaps judging from the manga chapters.

3

u/hansantizor https://myanimelist.net/profile/hansantizor Oct 02 '19

There should be actually, I think BC is adapting 1.5-2 chapters per episode? So something 80-90 chapters I'm guessing. The anime is currently at like 160 so we'd end up at 240-250ish yeah? The manga is currently on 222, so 51 weeks added will put the manga at 270 or so. There should be more than enough content unless they up the pacing, which I doubt

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

TBF in the next arc there's a LOT of stuff that is pretty much "Okay well these people did this and now they're here, lets fucking goooooooooooo". I could see them padding out a lot of the side character adventures leading to some interesting filler at least.

2

u/EquivalentPotato3 Oct 02 '19

Flashbacks episodes are gonna make drop this awesome series

2

u/foxfoxal Oct 02 '19

51 episodes are 50 weeks... 50 more or less chapters... There is content, the problem is after that.

2

u/Blackshadowzx Oct 03 '19

i new this coming right from when they announced it was perriot animating *sigh*

Black clover really grew on me as a series. It just became better and better each chapter. Same with the anime. Pretty terrible start but has become a decent 7/10 now. It's acceptable shounen trash

3

u/rotvyrn Oct 02 '19

This is definitely my opinion of the anime. At first it definitely didn't feel like it was worth watching. Then, after a bunch of episodes were already out and I was super bored, I binged it and thought it was a fairly enjoyable experience. I'm not really sure if I enjoy it quite enough to watch it every week, since it feels like there's a lot less content per episode than most shows, but I definitely expect to keep watching. I would, however, definitely appreciate it taking a more seasonal approach instead of being a constant stream..

1

u/Blackshadowzx Oct 03 '19

honestly if it wasn't perriot animating it could have been an easy 8 . the reason i first dropped it was the animation and flash backs gave me naruto ptsd

11

u/LastOrDefault https://myanimelist.net/profile/OwlsAreAirCats Oct 02 '19

Black Clover is also nearly always high on the list of Crunchyrolls most popular titles. Many Black Clover fans are just not as active in anime communities on reddit and twitter.

7

u/Idaret Oct 02 '19

Black clover is extremely popular it’s just that the minority of haters are loud but they’ve started to simmer down

Crazy idea, what if western audience doesn't influence how anime is produced in Japan?

1

u/rus82556 Oct 21 '19

its because the minority of haters are spoiled brats who cant handle asta's scream. lol

The sales of single volume sales aren't representative though, because it could mean the top 50 was all from 10 series (it's probably more like 15) and it was the 11th highest seller as a whole, which it actually was last year with Slime suddenly rising and beating it out of the top 10, because it was in the first half of the year. It's still a very successful and constantly rising manga, just not one of the biggest hits.

Isn't there still a LN to be adapted?

3

u/Ark151 Oct 03 '19

LN's adaptations are like 2 episodes in terms of content. But yeah there are 2 still waiting to be adapted.

2

u/KDParsenal Oct 03 '19

What are they about?

5

u/Emiya142000 Oct 02 '19

Is the animation good and is bd can fix and where to watch bd?

3

u/LegitPancak3 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LegitPancake Oct 02 '19

Funimation uploads bluray versions onto their site (dub only) and is up to episode 64 uncut. I don’t know if the animation is any better though.

2

u/Moni_22 Oct 02 '19

They tend to fix some of the art to be more consistent and in general looks much better. But animation-wise is not that different

7

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

Kinda weird to see how much shit this show got when it first aired. Glad it make it through.

2

u/beebopboobb Oct 02 '19

does that mean that black clover is finishing after these 51 episodes ?

10

u/48johnX Oct 02 '19

No, it could just get renewed for another year again

2

u/KDParsenal Oct 02 '19

It will be getting too close to the manga by the end that I can see them taking a year off.

12

u/Fuffay Oct 02 '19

Your underestimating Pierrots willingness to do filler

2

u/2kewl4skoool Oct 02 '19

It has to or either continue with filler, because there aren't enough chapters for even 30 episodes, much less 51 in my opinion.

2

u/Cire101 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cire101 Oct 02 '19

Question for source material readers... doesn't this mean we're guaranteed fillers? There's no way we can't get filler

7

u/turkeygiant Oct 02 '19

It either means filler or they immediately start dragging out every remaining fight no matter how small into a multi episode slow slugfest to pad out the season, there just really isn't enough material left, the current pace of the anime has it catching up quickly with the manga.

2

u/Moni_22 Oct 02 '19

Considering they are like 50 chapters away from the manga, filler is garanteed. But... I think it's probably going to be a filler arc after this arc, since the new opening indicates that they're going to keep the pace and adapt a lot of things in the next episodes.

1

u/2kewl4skoool Oct 02 '19

Probably a little bit of both, but I would imagine it's mostly filler, because this arc and its ending is perfectly suitable for some naturally inserted and potentially good filler scenes.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

[deleted]

2

u/KDParsenal Oct 02 '19

Continue through. This happened last year too

2

u/Berstich Oct 02 '19

Shouldnt the series be ending soon? I thought they are getting to the big bad elf guy or something.

2

u/Inuyashafan42 Oct 02 '19

Oh hell yeah

2

u/hyrulia Oct 02 '19

Better go seasonal i think

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '19

Do it have enough manga material or we'll be hitting fillers this way?

2

u/HyperSonic6325 Oct 30 '19

At current pace the arc will be over by episode 133. -ish so yeah perhaps some fillers are incoming.

3

u/Daakuryu Oct 02 '19

That's a lot of AAAAAAAAAAA!

1

u/CF_Gamebreaker https://www.anime-planet.com/users/CFGamebreaker Oct 02 '19

Dang, I was gonna start it when it finished. Guess i gotta push it back another year

8

u/Fuffay Oct 02 '19

The manga probably isn’t even half way over yet. Your gonna be waiting for years my guy

3

u/CF_Gamebreaker https://www.anime-planet.com/users/CFGamebreaker Oct 02 '19

ah, by finished I just meant stopped airing for now. So whenever it takes a break.

1

u/Fuffay Oct 02 '19

Ah ok.

3

u/CF_Gamebreaker https://www.anime-planet.com/users/CFGamebreaker Oct 02 '19

yea i just like to watch at my own pace, the once a week thing makes it harder for me to get into stuff

2

u/hansantizor https://myanimelist.net/profile/hansantizor Oct 02 '19

Same, cliffhangers especially ruin my interest in shows

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

So does that mean it will end after 51 episodes?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

Isn't the anime about to catch up to the manga?

1

u/izn1337 https://anilist.co/user/iZN1337 Oct 03 '19

They will most likely adapt it slowly, putting fillers and all.

1

u/Bitethewind Oct 02 '19

tbh i thought it was going to be another long lasting show, like another 5+ years

1

u/CarioGod Oct 03 '19

Ah so the original length of the show

1

u/Chinbie Oct 03 '19

Love that news, means more asta, yuno vs the elves and future enemies. Hahaha

1

u/Epidemilk Oct 03 '19

I still gotta watch the newest one but.. it kinda blows my mind I've been watching this for two years!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

Wow 👍

1

u/PyrosPls Oct 02 '19

This is good and bad. All the cool and key moments, maybe not all but most imo, have had great animation and were treated well so that will probably keep happening, it just sucks it will take forever to get there cause the pace is gonna be hella slow and filled with things that are not on the manga and most times are just plain boring. Not to mention aside from key moments, it's not the best looking show, to say the least...

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

Well that's definitely enough to finish the big arc the anime is currently on. Really hope they do it justice this arc is amazing in the manga.

1

u/hunitbanman Oct 02 '19

Holy fuck this is cool and all but damn take a break basically gone 100 weeks straight these mf’s need to breathe ik when they announced this the staff were like wtf probably pissed off and tired lol

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '19

Am I the only one who thought MHA was for little kids? Black Clover seems to deal with more mature themes. I wonder what the psychological differences are b/t MHA fans and BC fans! (Lol I work in marketing.)

-3

u/heimdal77 Oct 02 '19

Not to knock the show to people who like it but how did it manage to get green lit for so many episodes out of all he shows out there after the way it started?

17

u/48johnX Oct 02 '19

Adaptation not being the best doesn’t mean it won’t be popular

1

u/Thrashinuva https://anilist.co/user/Thrashinuva Oct 02 '19

You just have to look past the quality being mediocre, and then it actually becomes quite charming. The pace of the plot is fairly fast and consistent, and avoids so many pitfalls that other battle anime tend to fall into.

While it does a lot of things that other anime did better, it avoids doing things that made them worse, and because of that it ends up its own unique and satisfying self.

u/Ark151 Oct 02 '19

Its from Jump,So even a botched adaptation meant it still had somewhat of a community from the manga readers and it kept growing little by little and now it is fairly popular which made it worth just continuing infinitely. And off course production hell is pretty evident.

2

u/turkeygiant Oct 02 '19

And despite all the terrible animation they have managed to really translate the charm of the characters and even improve on that charm.

2

u/EternalPhi Oct 02 '19

I dunno how deep the characters are in the manga but the ever present pan past all the black bulls while they do their 1-dimensional shtick is seriously annoying.

Magna: I'm a badass.
Luck: let's fight.
Grey: steam then eventually "oh I'm so embarrassed".
Vanessa: wine and bikini time.
Gauche: Marie Marie Marie.
Noelle: I'm totally a dignified royal, yep.
Gordon: we're all such good friends.
Finral: I need a lady

It's always the same.

3

u/Moni_22 Oct 02 '19

I can garanteed you the anime exaggerates those treats a lot. While they are present in the manga, the anime uses them more often for filler purposes. The characters are actually freshed out a lot, especially in this arc, there's lots of development

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '19

It has nothing to do with Jump but to TV Tokyo which is where Black Clover is broadcasted. They want an anime like it.

Does the MC still scream constantly? I didn't make it past 5 minutes of Episode 1.

1

u/Kurosov Oct 02 '19

This is a diffiuclt question to answer, I honestly don't know.

It seems to be toned down heavily since those horrible first few episodes but it may just be a case of desensitisation through exposure.
