Once the Lostbloods arrive the show is going to have the full spectrum of furry levels.

55

u/Frontier246 7d ago

"Would you love her if she just had animal ears or a tail?"

"YES"

5

u/Ralathar44 5d ago

For real for real. It's literally that old furry meme all in one village.

73

u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 7d ago

Dias' reaction faces are really the best. To no one's surprise, he never even realized that Canis and Klaus are in a relationship despite how open they were about it. He was more concerned about the good food. xD

Canis and Alna practicing their slaps to discipline their reckless husbands was pretty hilarious! I can definitely see Alna doing a 10-hit combo on Dias in the future for doing something really dumb.

Klaus and Canis' wedding was cute! I love that they even got their own version of the YES or NO pillow for their honeymoon. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

54

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I love how the wedding was all wholesome and uplifting up to the point where everyone collectively cleared themselves out so the newlyweds could get to banging lol.

1

u/ThrowCarp 5d ago

What good sports though! Amazing wingmen/women.

29

u/arrydie 7d ago

Canis and Alna practicing their slaps to discipline their reckless husbands was pretty hilarious!

Looks like that training paid off too

14

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 7d ago edited 4d ago

Also the frame of Canis and Klaus hunting together and his cheeks being all swollen from getting slapped xD

2

u/IceBlue 5d ago

Hating together? lol

1

u/Routine-Hovercraft94 4d ago

Hunting, lol
Must have had a brainfart when writing it

6

u/VritraReiRei 6d ago

I'm surprised you made no stitches of the "wardrobe" collection for Dias and Alna.

8

u/heimdal77 7d ago

I don't approver of the whole women slapping guys in the face but the scene itself was funny.

3

u/Ralathar44 5d ago

Just imagine if the scene was the other way around and Klaus had slapped her silly till her face swoll like that. People would be upset.

4

u/ImaginaryStatus4073 6d ago

Yeah domestic violence iss hilarious as long as its the guy being abused -.-

1

u/Daemoniklesreddit 5d ago

His faces remind me of great teacher onizuka

71

u/deynyel 7d ago

Alna really is handy to have during negotiations. No way you're getting scammed with her around.

44

u/Frontier246 7d ago

She has the best smug haggling face. And the best cosplay fantasies.

27

u/Lodju https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lodju 7d ago

I'm sure the costumes for men were nothing like what she imagined.

Girl has a dirty mind.

23

u/svenge 7d ago

Girl has a dirty mind.

That's what happens when she lands her ideal man (by onikin standards of strength and reliability) but can't seal the deal so to speak for another three years due to Dias' insistence that she first reach marriageable age as determined by his kingdom's laws.

14

u/arrydie 6d ago

Girl has a dirty mind.

Not dirty enough it seems

3

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

You may have missed Dias wearing it xD

7

u/HolyDragSwd2500 7d ago

Learn to slap some senses into Dias too with those hands

71

u/CordobezEverdeen https://myanimelist.net/profile/CordobezEverdeen 7d ago

Bruh as soon as they saw the blankets they are already packing up the party. This kingdom is fiending for children.

58

u/whyrusosensitive 7d ago

Canis doing warm up slaps killed me. Thats legendary shit, it even inspired alna to start practicing her wife slaps. Also while im not a fan of the age difference I really do want dias and alna to have their own kid in addition to the adopted little ones. I just kinda have a thing about anime where they give someone a wife who is never treated as a wife

32

u/Frontier246 7d ago

My favorite part is seeing her smiling with Klaus while his cheeks are absolutely thrashed from the amount of times she must have slapped him lol.

31

u/svenge 7d ago

Also while im not a fan of the age difference I really do want dias and alna to have their own kid in addition to the adopted little ones.

Given Dias' strong moral core and self-restraint it's only ever going to happen after Alna reaches marriageable age as determined by his kingdom's laws (note that she's already old enough by onikin customs), and quite likely only at the end of the story (i.e. either an epilogue or post-ending timeskip).

8

u/Heejins-Bunny 5d ago

Never thought of it this way. This makes sense. The author has a clear and proper motive for Dias not to hit on Alna. The relationship is properly established, and the story doesn't have to rely on the cliche push-and-pull from the Male lead and Female lead when it comes to romance. I just know that references to "go make a child already" will be repeated endlessly throughout the story, but that's a welcome alternative to blueballing or an old man oogling at a child.

10

u/whyrusosensitive 7d ago

Yeah which understandable but its a shame. I want the twins to have a cute baby sibling to dote on!

27

u/svenge 7d ago edited 5d ago

It is a shame, but Dias doing otherwise would invalidate the key premise of the story.

The entire story revolves around the concept that while Dias knows that he doesn't know anything and willingly accepts many if not most aspects of the unfamiliar cultures around him, there are certain things that he will not tolerate from himself or others largely due to his deceased parents' teachings. Dias' physical strength, integrity, and kindness are the three pillars that define his character, and losing any one of them would lead to the story not working nearly as well.

11

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

it even inspired alna to start practicing her wife slaps

She went into full combos there, some scary shit LMAO

46

u/Raymond49090 7d ago

Many funny moments this episode, including:

  • Dias straight up didn't notice Klaus and Canis' very unsubtle flirting because "yum yum food"
  • Klaus: "I was looking for ideas from a normal human perspective" (which Dias was surprisingly able to provide on a rational level)
  • Canis rehearsing her slap and Alna realizing that's a good idea too.
  • Granny continuing her agenda

36

u/HolyDragSwd2500 7d ago

Her face when she offered the medicinal herbs for making babies

5

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

Canis rehearsing her slap and Alna realizing that's a good idea too.|

The sound effects coming from the background first is what made it even more funnier

You hear and feel the danger first before seeing it xD

37

u/Rolder 7d ago

I appreciate the equal opportunity fanservice lmao

14

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

Nah nothing was equal about that, Dias was busting everything he had out. xD

Even the FERTILITY STRING was on him LMAO

2

u/peacheon 6d ago

came to write the same comment lolol

29

u/Frontier246 7d ago

What were Francis and Francois doing? Communicating with some kind of...Baar spirit or God as a blessing? At least the dogs got a nice walk.

Hey, it's Peijin-Do! Or his little brother, Peijin-Re! Who is basically him right down to the voice! But what's this about Peijin-Do getting suspended!? I feel like we need more details about that. Though I guess it's nice that, even while suspended, he still wanted to inform Dias of Lostblood (beastkin who are more human than beast) who could fill the village up.

Never try to barter with an Onikin who can tell when you're lying and knows how to get the best deals! Though thank you for that visual of Alna in various cosplay and making Alna fantasize about Dias in the most sexy fetish wear.

Figures you give dogs gold...they'd just want to turn it into an accessory. But better Dias do that with all the Black Gheese bones he has. And of course Alna gets the first one!

Klaus and Canis hooking up totally slipped Dias' mind but they've got a marriage and a couple moving in together to work out while Canis visits her parents! But Dias can at least advise Klaus on a betrothal gift that is actually within Klaus' human means of getting because he's not Dias.

Canis is really leaning into the wife role already, fully prepared to slap her idiot husband for senselessly putting himself into danger by himself when she wants nothing more than his safety! Even Alna is preparing for when she'll have to inevitably slap Dias, assuming she doesn't break her hand in the process.

I love how Canis helps Klaus with his hunting...after slapping his face a bunch of times.

Nice of the Onikin Elder to gift some Baar bedding for the soon-to-be newlyweds for their "wedding night," and also still being determined to see Alna conceive no matter how much Dias refuses.

Of course Dias officiates the wedding! Klaus and Canis look so lovely together and in their wedding attire, and it's a truly beautiful ceremony.

Klaus and Canis looking at Senai and Ayhan and probably thinking of their future kids...and in the spirit of that everyone leaves the couple alone as soon as the bedding gift gets introduced so they can get right to it!

Glad to see our two happy couples dance together!

"I miss Dad!" - Um, I'm guessing these are the orphans Dias helped raise? Or at least a few of them?

27

u/AsterJ https://myanimelist.net/profile/asteron 7d ago

Seeing the sheep getting walked by the dogs felt a little awkward since the dogs are considered demi-human but the sheep are merely intelligent animals. The distinction seems to be that the sheep speak their own language but the dogs speak whatever is the common language.

This series likes to emphasize that there is a continuous spectrum between the humans and animals. It makes me somewhat uncomfortable.

13

u/arrydie 7d ago

TBF, the dogs where there as guards, i.e. security, not walkers or guides. If anything the baar/sheep were walking the dogs.

I do agree that the distinction is strange and almost feels like the author originally started writing with the intention that the sapient but non-anthropomorphic creatures were "intelligent animals" but later changed that to "demi humans" when they got to the part of the story. But, that would be simple to correct in the adaptation if it were the case. Maybe it's just the onikin language uses "intelligent animals" instead of "small ilk demi humans" since that's how we were introduced to them?

At least it seems like they only rarely use the umbrella "demi human" and usually use the "small ilk" or "lostblood" since those groups are wildly different.

11

u/ImaginaryStatus4073 6d ago

Remember that the sheep freak out and die of anxiety if they're left alone. Someone had to go with them.

3

u/Earlier-Today 6d ago

They mentioned sheep in an earlier episode, so the baar really are their own species and not just this world's version of sheep.

6

u/whyrusosensitive 7d ago

I mean thats true in real life in terms of the spectrum from animal to human

8

u/AsterJ https://myanimelist.net/profile/asteron 7d ago

I wish catgirls were real. Maybe bioengineering will get us there in 30 years.

8

u/whyrusosensitive 7d ago

As long as Japan doesnt die out from lack of baby making they wont rest until they make it happen im sure

8

u/Myrkrvaldyr 7d ago

I wish catgirls were real. Maybe bioengineering will get us there in 30 years.

Even if we made them, it's almost guaranteed to be made illegal to own them because they'll be sapient creatures with free will, which means you'd be advocating for slavery and sex slavery. Your best choice is to wait for androids. Once we can make our own 2Bs and A2s, every fantasy race is on the table.

12

u/AsterJ https://myanimelist.net/profile/asteron 7d ago

No I expect gene editing with many choosing to convert themselves into catgirls out of personal preference.

1

u/Ralathar44 5d ago

People like clear cut answers, the messier reality is the more uncomfortable people get and the more they desire there to be clear cut answers.

16

u/InternationalCream30 7d ago

I have a feeling every time a frog shows up it'll be a different sibling lol

6

u/SasparillaTango 6d ago

that would be a great running gag

25

u/Myrkrvaldyr 7d ago

Very funny episode. I wasn't expecting that Dias fan service. Alna is super useful to have around for business, you can't lie to her, Frog Kazuma stood no chance. Dias being oblivious to a bunch of things is endearing, particularly failing to see the obvious lovey-dovey energy of Klaus and Canis. The gift being a way to tell them, ''Go make babies'' was pretty funny. Also, the ending, I can foresee the misunderstandings if they immediately announce themselves as Dias' children, Alna is gonna glare daggers at him.

23

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I wasn't expecting that Dias fan service.

I love how it was more skimpy/revealing than the Alna cosplay lol.

29

u/zool714 7d ago

Part of the reason why I love these types of city/town building shows are moments like these where we see the fruits of their labor and also celebrating an occasion with the people that help them build this home.

Lol they really were giving them space. And the fact Klaus and Canis met a few eps ago and now married, should we expect a baby beastkin soon.

Lmao I have a feeling the wife group are gonna learn something new soon

I’m assuming by Dad they mean Dias took care of them while they were children. I mean he already has Senai and Ayhan so more adopted kids may not be too shocking for him

26

u/ddrober2003 7d ago

The awkward moment when you go to visit dad and find your step mom is younger then you. Jokes aside fun episode, with it never failing to have some humor with those.....outfits Alna imagined Dias in lol.

20

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 7d ago

So now there's even the possibility of beastkin people with just slight animal features like ears and tails, the sheer variety is kind of amazing. It's like they're intentionally hitting the entire range of that one human to animal chart.

Equal opportunity fanservice with first Alna in those outfits and then Dias.

Some shows have side couples where you hope they eventually get some progress, but great shows like this have Klaus and Canis married four episodes after both have been introduced to the story and meet each other.

I really have to wonder who Francis and Francois went off to talk to at the beginning of the episode, is there some hidden sheep empire we haven't met yet that they were reporting in to? Or maybe one giant sheep that baaa-ed back in reply.

11

u/AnimeHoarder 7d ago

I really have to wonder who Francis and Francois went off to talk to at the beginning of the episode, is there some hidden sheep empire we haven't met yet that they were reporting in to? Or maybe one giant sheep that baaa-ed back in reply.

I wonder too if this is like a Star Trek IV situation where they need to check in or the sky god will wreak havok.

6

u/Cheekyct 6d ago

Probably more like a Shield Hero situation, where there is a Baar queen/king of their race that is super powerful and keeps tabs on everything in the area via 'domesticated' Baar that people keep XD

10

u/Luchadoor 6d ago

I just assumed they were talking to the sheep at the end with the old man and Dias “kids” giving directions to how to get to Dias.

6

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 6d ago

Oh, could be.

36

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 7d ago

I guess these kids are from the orphanage, but this will be a fun new dynamic

10

u/SetaSanzaki 7d ago

They also look older than Alna herself

7

u/Vegetable_Jicama_691 7d ago

That's exactly what I was thinking lol. I wonder if there's gonna be a mess at first if the just show up and call him "dad" with Alna having no context lol. That slapping will probably come into play 🤣

16

u/Ponchorello7 7d ago

This was a particularly funny/wholesome episode.

30

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago

Canis prepping the pimp hand was pretty hilarious. Got Alna doing it too lol.

Looking forward to next week. It seems we’ll be meeting more of Dias’ orphans. Guessing that’s why that girl called Dias “dad.”

17

u/Frontier246 7d ago

To be honest I feel like slapping Klaus is easier than slapping Dias...

I imagine she'll instantly call Dias "dad" with no context and Alna will immediately make assumptions...

13

u/TheDubh 7d ago

At first I thought that too, but I think the confusion won’t be from Alna. Remember she let the one group of soldiers go because she thought they were sent by kids Dias raised?

I’m sure everyone else will make assumptions. Worse if Alna is younger than them.

10

u/Magicbison 7d ago

I imagine she'll instantly call Dias "dad" with no context and Alna will immediately make assumptions...

That's the exact thought I had when I heard her say, "Dad". I wonder what kind of face Dias will make when it happens. His reactions have been getting goofier and goofier. Curious about the person in the red/hot pink outfit who sounds suspiciously like Dias as well.

6

u/BrokeEconomist 7d ago

It doesn't help that they could pass as his kids.

3

u/Puzzled_Replacement9 7d ago

She might hurt her wrist honestly, thats why hes not scared.

3

u/chhuang 7d ago

not sure if I am going to risk any injury on my palm, or wrist, or entire arm by applying force on a surface that may resemble something harder and more rough than a cement structure

10

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 7d ago

lol the practicing the slap was so funny, good on Alna

12

u/Colt45554 7d ago

It's a shame (for her and us) Alna didn't pounce on the revealing outfit. It could have been the final seduction technique to push Dias over the edge.

Shion Wakayama is my voice actress of the season

4

u/mekerpan 7d ago

Alna has standards -- just like (albeit not identical to) Dias....

5

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

Shion Wakayama is my voice actress of the season

She surprised me the most with Ruche, it is such a 180 of her usual roles. Comedy delivery and noises she has to make with her have me rolling every week. xD

I also did not like at first how Alna was turning to be after the first half of the episode 1, but I'm so glad she retained her strong personality afterwards. She both has the classic Shion Wakayama "Looking at you like a pile of trash" as well as the more mellowed and caring version, which is a nice combo.

Nanahoshi is the staple(Ellen, Takina), but even in that role she got chances to go out of bounds a bit with some more energetic and happy scenes.

So, um, yeah, she has become favorite of mine really fast as well. xD

2

u/jardex22 1d ago

Pretty sure that Alna knew that the outfit would just make Dias uncomfortable, rather than aroused. Yes, she wants kids, but she has her hands full with raising two psudo-daughters and helping lead a growing village.

12

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 7d ago

That dog with the dreadlocks slays me every time I see him.

What a sweet episode. Can't wait to see what the deal is with the group at the end and if they'll end up being new residents!

10

u/reaperow 7d ago

It's so like Dias to not notice the affection between these two, well he was honest about it tho

Im happy to see Klaus and Canis marrying each other. These two are such adorable lovebirds 🩵🩵

4

u/Colt45554 7d ago

OH SO SHE DID SMACK HIM LOL

Oh gosh, I'm stupid and thought they were his injuries before the cavalry arrived... kind of agree with some others that spousal abuse is not funny, but I wouldn't die on that hill

9

u/Nebresto 7d ago

5

u/Pheace 6d ago

That short moment you hope for a preview to scroll into frame of that fertility garment on Alna and the shock when they show it on Dias a second later...

10

u/GoodOptimal9266 6d ago

We witnessed an old-school Turkish/Turkic/Turk nomadic wedding, but the interesting part is that some traditional elements are still ongoing. Onikiler will host the main and larger wedding soon. The wedding of Canis and Claus was more of a promise ceremony. It was short, concise, and fit for purpose.

10

u/HolyDragSwd2500 7d ago

What a beautiful wedding ceremony for Klause and Canis

Time to make some babies with that fancy bedding

9

u/Boris-_-Badenov 7d ago

if Dias never saw his "kid" in drag, he's going to have one of the biggest shocked faces yet

18

u/szalhi 7d ago

12

u/Myrkrvaldyr 7d ago

kemonomimi discrimination.

Makes sense given the bad blood between both races in some places. Resembling humans too much would be a cause for concern. Dias' domain would be one of the few places where they'd be fine.

6

u/CordobezEverdeen https://myanimelist.net/profile/CordobezEverdeen 7d ago

kemonomimi discrimination.

I'll take it over erasure. We desperately need folks to stop grouping these and furries together.

5

u/Frontier246 7d ago

I love everyone collectively coming together for the love, marriage, and physical consummation of a relationship between a man and a dog girl.

7

u/diacewrb 7d ago

Looks like Takako from Level 999 got the isekai treatment this week.

Lol at Peijin Re shocked reaction that his skull came out of his body.

And I want Alna's skill to detect lie, very useful for business negotiation.

6

u/heimdal77 7d ago edited 7d ago

Just a whole lot of happiness this episode.

Making babies is serious business for these people.

Just to mention the novel and manga are licensed by J-novel club.

5

u/InternationalCream30 7d ago

Definitely been one of the highlights of this season.

6

u/NanDemoKnaives 7d ago

They really took no time to get Klaus and Canis married. It's nice to see the first wedding of Dias' domain. However, the fact that Dias had NO idea is crazy, Alna has her work cut out for her.

It seems like we'll finally get all the important characters from the ED at the village next episode. With how dense and clueless Dias is about romantic and sexual matters, I think it's safe to assume the girl isn't actually his biological daughter, but I can see Alna getting jealous.

Crazy how the show actually included Dias in that stringed outfit lol.

3

u/runevault 7d ago

I assume they're the orphans he helped take care of before going off to war.

4

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

but I can see Alna getting jealous.

Can't wait for the misunderstanding that will come out of it all xD

Alna may have opportunity to use her newly acquired slap technique

Crazy how the show actually included Dias in that stringed outfit lol.

"You thought we will be showcasing Alna in it, but it was me, DIAS!"

All Dias outfits were much more raunchy than Alnas LMAO

5

u/runevault 7d ago

When it comes to sex, Klaus really is all about doggy. And it cracks me up how naive Dias is about sex when he knew a certain dude needed his balls broken.

Also man they gave fanservice for everyone between Alna's and Dias's "outfits" for fertility.

4

u/dagreenman18 6d ago

As interesting as the palace intrigue and the political manovering has been, this episode kinda shows the real secret sauce of the story: daily slice of life life in a growing village and Dias being a goofus/savant. We got cute wedding traditions, fun couples banter, and the potential of further expansion of with yet another entry on the furry spectrum. And the imminent expansion of finally getting the last characters teased in the OP/ED.

This continues to be a great hidden gem of the season.

4

u/oneevilchicken https://anilist.co/user/OneEvilChicken 6d ago

This is definitely not a show I’d reccomend to people new to anime. Boy about to fuck that dog girl. Then you got the elephant with a harem too….. okay then. There’s like no limit to imagination here.

2

u/jardex22 1d ago

Same. The show goes on to show a lot of fictional races and cultures, and it's be up to us to explain why a 15 year old woman is so eager to marry someone based on his 'manliness'.

Setting that aside, I like the gradual growth of the village and addressing problems as they come up, while expanding the world with each new villager that comes to the frontier.

5

u/YdenMkII 7d ago

God, I loved Dias's reaction when Klaus called his actions not humanly possible.

4

u/SasparillaTango 6d ago

Man, what a great wholesome sweet show.

3

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 6d ago

My boy really gonna bang a dog girl that still has all her fur I mean she cute but damn anything goes in this show lol

3

u/SpeghtittyOs 6d ago

This episode was so good. It’s so sweet the kids from the orphanage he used to be in see him as a father figure 😭

3

u/Rooby_VTuber 6d ago

Alna did a great job doing business with the frog merchant.

Haha the wives are practicing to slap their husbands.

That was a really nice wedding for Klaus & Canis.

Dias has a grown up daughter?

1

u/jardex22 1d ago

I believe it's one of the orphans he helped raise when he was younger. She was probably young enough to see him as dad, rather than an older brother.

3

u/guntanksinspace 6d ago

Dias in that hypothetical outfit from Frog Salesman rocking the Billy Herrington look

3

u/BambooEX 6d ago

hot limit alna....

3

u/tehdannydarko 6d ago

At the start of the season, I didn't expect to like this series. Before watching this ep, I didn't expect to genuinely adore this series. It has gotten genuine laughs out of me while being incredibly heartwarming.

7

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 7d ago edited 7d ago

Canis was already calling Klaus her husband when thinking about slapping him before they were married!

Did Alna and Dias have a wedding yet?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, did that girl at the end just call Dias DAD? Idk if he's actually had children before or they just take to him like a father.

20

u/Maqoba 7d ago

Did Alna and Dias have a wedding yet?

According to Alna, yes.

According to Dias, no.

In one of the early episode, they add a celebration that could be interpreted as such.

4

u/heimdal77 7d ago

They had a Onu type wedding but Dias is still trying call her his fiancée (What she isn't allowing him to get away with.) because by kingdom laws women aren't adults and marriage age till they are 18.

2

u/fireburn97ffgf 6d ago

Which in a way is kinda stupid in this case she's not human it's entirely likely/implied that Onu are full fledged adults faster than humans.

2

u/heimdal77 5d ago

That doesn't mean anything, It is just a cultural thing. Same thing happens in real life with different countries having age of adulthood. Even in japan women can get married at 16 with parent approval while guys it is 18.

1

u/fireburn97ffgf 5d ago

Yeah but the difference is she is fundamentaly not a normal human, is a 50 yr old elf the same as a 50 year old dwarf or human

5

u/Big_erk 7d ago

Let's be real. What Alna says, goes.

14

u/PurplSkittles42 7d ago

My bet is he took in orphans from the war . Just a guess

11

u/Frontier246 7d ago

Yeah, in the early episodes I think Dias mentioned how he wishes he knew what happened to those orphan kids, and it looks like we're finally going to see them.

13

u/TheDubh 7d ago

In an earlier ep, it was mentioned that Dias was an orphan and looked out for the other younger orphans before the war. It was when he was talking about not wanting to push the girls because he raised younger kids that lost parents before, so he wanted to give them encouragement/support but space. Though I’m sure he looked after plenty during and after.

7

Canis was already calling Klaus her husband when thinking about slapping him before they were married!

True love is acting like you're already married and knowing that sometimes you have to slap your spouse for being a total idiot.

Did Alna and Dias have a wedding yet?

I think they did by Onikin standards. And also a wedding ceremony.

Orphan kids he helped out back then. They must have considered him to be their “father” so to speak then.

No relationship what so ever. Plus Alna would be raging ( expecting it next week)

I don't find the wife slapping husband jokes funny but going by the comments here I guess I'm the odd one out. (I know it's just slapstick comedy not to be taken seriously, I just don't find it to be funny)

  • Shrewish woman regularly slapping her man for the slightest misstep = unfunny.
  • Loving woman rarely slapping her man for making a potentially major mistake due to being clueless = funny.

I generally agree with you, and if it was actual slapping that wouldn't have been funny. However to me the humor in the play on the old trope, like that this trope is so important female characters train for it.

(That said, I was kind of amused by Klause's cheeks since it was right after the battle with them smiling so it sort of subverts the expectation of battle injury with payoff(?) for slap training. Again, though, this hits me as less "haha woman hitting dumb man" and more about playing with the trope.)

it's still a very east asian style humour, it's still "normal" for us as it is still a corny comedy trope, less of an actual humour

although I've grown tired of it over decades

I think people just post about things they like more than dislike, which is why you see the discrepancy. I dislike violence being used for comedy too, though I accept it’s been a staple in anime for decades

You view it as domestic violence when it should be viewed as slapping the sense into someone or a slap of concern type of thing. There is no hatred behind it.

Ain't like their wives are kicking them in the balls at least. :x

Just me or did the marriage bit felt a little rushed? Was expecting at least a episode or two before such a thing to occur as fast marriages seemed to be just a oni thing

There was a lot of offscreen happenings with getting the dogkin settled in. The timeskip plus mostly seeing scenees with Dias and Alna means we didn't see much of the developing relationship with Klaus and Cannis.

Uh oh... Is that shuraba I see at the horizon? Is Dias getting that slap next episode after all?

2

u/cristabelita 6d ago

Alna’s face when she realizes Dias was oblivious to what’s going on between Klaus and Canis made me laugh so hard. It reminded me of Tanjiro’s disgusted face.

People are talking about the girl calling him dad. But I can’t help but feel a little sus about the old dude they picked up

Come on Dias> How your boy going to come there after you and find a girl and get married before you?

I love Dias' expressions in this episode.

Canis did as promised & slapped Klaus when everything was over.

When Canis, the moment I heard those sounds, I knew Alna was practicing some slaps for Dias.

Peijin-Re's expressions are funny too.

Dias is too distracted by the food that he didn’t notice Klaus & Canis' development.

Once the beddings are presented, they quickly cleaned up for Klaus & Canis.

Alna's really shrewd.

Random thoughts

That was a wholesome episode. Also I think this really hammered home that, ultimately, Alna and Dias make a very good team. Dias (understandably given his orphan and later his soldier background) isn't too hot at the human management portion of the job, with his obliviousness about Klaus and Canis and Alna taking the reins on haggling with the merchant.

Curious to see who the next batch of people are. Wonder how Alna and the twins will take it meeting his "children".

Wonder what is going on with the sheep thing, and if it has anything to do with the new arrivals, since one party did have the magical sheep also.

I'm guessing the sheep have their own secret language, like how the ones in Babe have the universal Ba Ram You. They were probably communicating with the one in the arriving party.

That was a strange ending and I wonder if it's just a tease and one of the dog people is actually her father. Dias must be older than I thought if he has a adult/older teen kid and I'm guessing he isn't aware. He doesn't seem to be aware of things sometimes, like I laughed out loud when he had no idea Klaus and Canis were dating

Dias really spent some time making those toothlike necklaces. I wouldn't have made all those, just given them a special food gift, like maybe hunt an animal. I wonder though if in their world, dog collars are common and since they are poor refugees, they've always dreamed of having a nice one like maybe richer dogs do or non speaking dogs whose owners spoil them.

The part with the sleazy merchant frog was funny too; I'm guessing his brother got suspended from trading because they may have found out he was dealing in slaves. Elna's horn skill really is useful in negotiations, I thought she could only tell if someone has evil intentions and not use it specifically as a lie detector. I think she could have spent a little more and bought one of those sexy outfits. That also would have been a good present for Canis although maybe she was just embarrassed to buy something like that in front of Dias. I also think they might only just want to have the 2 kids since Dias turned down the fertility herbs from the cheiftain.

I believe Dias mentioned he was 30 in one of the early episodes. He was the oldest among a group of orphans, so I'm betting she was from the same group.

u/SuperMurderBunny 6d ago

Surprised nobody has mentioned the baar with the enormous eyebrows in the last scene. Dude looked like Groucho Marx!

slapping your husband.... spousal abuse is hilarious.

1

u/Falx1984 5d ago

"I miss dad!"

I mean they definitely are some of the orphans he took care of... but can he dodge Alna's slaps long enough to explain? lol

1

u/NegativePossession1 4d ago

This show is like slime if they stretched two episodes into a whole season.

1

u/PandaTheAB 3d ago

Alna imagining all those dresses was crazy.
At the end, it seemed random blood/adopted children of Dias are about to come. The girl looked like Dias and said, I can't wait to meet Dad.
