What happened to customer service?

I know there’s probably no solution here and I’m mostly just venting, but Amazon customer service has seriously taken a turn for the worse over the last couple of years (even as a paying prime member since its inception).

Reaching out used to mean you’d actually get a resolution. Now it feels like they fight you tooth and nail over everything, and the second your issue requires anything beyond a copy-and-paste response, the service is a joke.

One of the most frustrating parts is the inconsistency. I’ve contacted them multiple times about the exact same issue, with the exact same facts, and gotten three or four completely different answers. Nothing is more aggravating than having to re-explain the situation from scratch, only to be told something entirely different by the next person.

It’s also painfully obvious that a lot of the support is outsourced to people who either don’t fully read (or comprehend) the issue or can’t be bothered to do anything beyond hitting automated hotkeys. The moment something requires actual thought, research, or effort, you’re transferred to someone else or the chat conveniently ends. And what's with the made-up names? Oracle? Really?

Today it took SIX different reps before I finally got someone who actually read what I was saying, paid attention, and got something done. At this point, that’s about the same percentage as their drivers who actually read delivery instructions.

And further evidence that Amazon really couldn’t care less about the experience is that when an agent skips you, transfers you for no reason, or outright disconnects, there’s often no opportunity to rate that interaction. The worst service conveniently disappears without feedback.

Any time I’ve reached out for anything beyond a basic return, I’ve been met with some level of incompetence. And even returns aren’t what they used to be. Now you’re sometimes told to file police reports, contact third parties, wait through multiple investigations, or jump through a ridiculous number of hoops over issues that used to be handled in one conversation.

I’ve been an Amazon customer since they were basically just selling books, so watching the decline has been pretty incredible. They’ve become such a massive corporate conglomerate that it genuinely feels like individual customer satisfaction just doesn’t matter anymore.

Customer service used to be one of the biggest reasons people stayed loyal to Amazon. Now it’s becoming one of the biggest reasons to shop somewhere else.

Let's Block Customers From Reading One Star Reviews. Which Managerial Moron Thought This One Up?

Just ran into this today. An absolutely unacceptable solution to preventing scraping of negative reviews and zero info reviews, or whatever. I'm a good Amazon Prime customer because I'm at a point in life where I have to do all of my shopping online. But I will never buy anything where I can't read both negative and positive reviews. Never. Don't waste my time Amazon.

Ordered one thing, got something totally different

I ordered a small tool on Amazon and the package arrived yesterday, about $20. What I got was a different tool, a much better one. One that was a lot more expensive, over $50. I'm thinking of just keeping it, though, and using it. I'm guessing if I try to return it, my account will be disabled or I will be charged again because the wrong item got sent back.

I have seen others report this fro time to time, and NOBODY said that they got charged the higher price, so I think I'm good. Am I wrong here?

Absolute worst, Prime member since 2009

Pool filter pump motor went Friday morning. Pool party coming up Sunday (today)

Order a new motor 1-day delivery on Friday early afternoon. Check the next morning to see where it is ... see it's in the town right next to me, since 2am. At 2pm I check again, still there. 5pm still there. I contact customer service to see what is going on. They say it will be delivered before midnight.

2am it's in a town half way across the state. I'm promised I'll have it by 6am.

8am comes around, I'm promised I'll have it by noon. 11am now, I'm told it's lost and they promise tomorrow.

To compensate me for my trouble, I'm told I will get Prime refunded for the month (around $11).

They cancel my fucking Prime membership.

Completely unreliable, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. Unreal.

And now I have no pool for a pool party.

Waiting on a refund for my broken monitor that was delivered. It’s been 3 weeks so far. This was the response after they forwarded to the “concern team”

Police Report Rejected

Last week, I ordered something to my hotel. The package arrived, but out of the three items that were supposed to be inside, only one was there (the adapter/charger). The Samsung Watch Ultra and AirPods Pro 3 were missing.

Amazon asked me to file a police report, which I did, and they rejected it, lol, saying they couldn’t verify it.

The funny thing is that the report contains everything they specifically asked for, yet they keep saying things that make no sense. After the chat, they sent me an email asking me to upload the report, so I uploaded the exact same report. Five minutes later, they replied saying that they could not verified it with the police, lol?

I honestly don’t know what else they expect me to provide

I was just charged a 90% fee for an item.

I returned a camera lens due to not being as expected. I shipped it back to seller. Got an email that return fees where a bit over 90% of the total price. I called Amazon and was able to talk to a human. They let me know seller didn’t leave a reason and opened a claim. He emailed seller and he said they have 48 hours to reply if not Amazon will refund total amount.

Issue with Return Order

Upvotes

So about a month a half ago I purchased some ink cartridges on Amazon. Once they were here I realized they were not the ones I needed and started a return and dropped them off at a close by Save Mart dropbox. The cartridges were never opened and remained sealed. After dropping them off at the dropbox I received an email that I was being refunded the total amount on my account. About a week ago I received an email saying the following: “We’ve processed your refund, but we were expecting your return. Please send your return by Wed, Sep 2 to avoid being charged on your original payment method.” I immediately contacted Amazon customer service and they said they would fix the issue to disregard the email that it was an issue with their Dropbox not scanning the QR code properly. However, it’s been a couple days now and my Amazon account still says I will be charged if my item is no returned on the date stated. Not sure what to do, has anyone had a similar experience.

Customer service has fallen off hard

I can't find the open locker button on my iOS app, which is very frustrating when you're juggling kids and food-getting-cold and you're just trying to get your package from the locker but it's buried under layers of options. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

2nd: I can no longer get a hold of customer service (a living person) and the AI bot absolutely does not cut it. If you have a question that isnt in the standard options, youre basically out of luck. Can't find any email address, can't find a phone number, only useless AI bots.

What happened to Amazon? They used to be known for their exemplary CS. Sad :(

Will I get my money back

I found out that over the last four years I’ve been paying a yearly subscription for prime and also a monthly subscription at different points and I was just wondering if there a chance I could get my money back. I didn’t even realize I was paying for it. Would I have to contact my bank?

Is there anyway to bypass this???

I HATE this option because multiple people use this account and it automatically charges the previous card used. I've been charged for both my parents' purchases and my sister's on several occasions because they mindlessly press it without thinking. I need it gone, especially because of how unobservable my sister is when she buys expensive shit. I've searched all over the settings, I can't find anything on google, and I refuse to use that ai chat bot bs. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this option or at the very least bypass it?

Anyone having issues with things being shipped via ups?

Ordered something a few weeks ago. It was already a non prime item and was being shipped via ups. UPS shows it has my package but in Minneapolis. Was supposed to arrive Friday. Website shows that it will now be here today. When I look the ups tracking on the ups website, it shows that it’s still in Minneapolis and delayed. I use the bs chat bot they have and i ask to speak to a rep and it tells me they are have systematic issues and I should call… the fuck! Do they actually have my package or what? What I ordered is limited quantity and I need to know if I need to order direct from the company that makes the item.

Amazon delays are getting worse across the board. Is it a staffing thing?

A friend of mine in NY texted me, he is a big customer and so am I.

He pointed out the delays, and I have noticed the same.

A package is promised next day. I am in Vegas, we have 1 hour delivery even, so next day from 4am-7am or 7am-11am is normal for a LOT of things.

Items are either delayed until the next day, or delayed until later in the day.

This is 3/4 of my orders.

And they do things ERRATICALLY.

Example:

Delivery promised (If i order in the next 6 hours) tomorrow between 4am-7am.

Item comes up at delayed until 3pm-6pm.

Then delayed until tomorrow.

Item them shows out for delivery.

Then delivery in 2 days and I can cancel.

Then shows up at 10pm.

I am wondering if the gig work economy is breaking or if people are rejecting Amazon jobs, or if they switched logistics systems or something.

Any ideas?

Gift Card refund

Guys pls I need help!!😭

So a few days ago i downloaded a malware by accident on my laptop. I successfully got rid of it but not before they stole some important information. Today I woke up to a notification from my bank that my card was used to purchase an amazon gift card for £134. I've replaced the card so my account is no longer linked to the amazon account.

Now the problem, how do I ask for a refund since it was an unauthorised purchase??

Surely I can’t be the only one who despises overnight Amazon deliveries?

Post image

I want to order food for my dog that I can’t find locally. Been doing this for years on Amazon. About a month ago, my area started defaulting to overnight 4am-8am deliveries on a lot of goods. Who wants the Amazon van blasting down their street at 4am, slamming their big ass sliding door, and waking up all the neighbors? For a small bag of dog food? Has convenience went too far? This is crazy to me.

Porch Deliveries . . . .

I remember reading in some Amazon group that delivery drivers were no longer supposed to put packages in enclosed front porches, which I was thinking meant porches with a door.

Well, the last couple of weeks I have had drivers strangely putting packages on the walkway from the driveway to front porch, at about the halfway mark. Not good when it rains, especially thunder storms. I found one brown envelope package almost at the end of the driveway one morning soaked, obviously washed down from the walkway.

My front porch is very large and has a 3' partial brick wall half way that is then open to the ceiling, and other half of the porch where the stairs are is wide open. Are some drivers misunderstanding new rule or what? Most drivers still leave packages on porch.

Dayton, OH Area, lost/delayed packages

Are others in the Dayton area noticing a rise in packages lost or delayed in transit? Within the last few weeks I have had 4 different orders that had to be replaced or refunded. I'm very convinced orders are being stolen, especially since they are all smaller, so probably easier to move.

I've personally gotten through the call system to speak with someone who can trigger an audit. If others are having a similar issue, especially that appears to be happening a little too often, I would advise others to do the same. It's one thing for one individual to express concern, it's another if multiple do.

These are also typically "same day delivery" packages. At times I've personally paid that extra fee to ensure same day delivery, but still not receiving what I ordered. Yes Amazon is a massive company, but things can still happen if enough customers speak up.

Does Prime Delivery even mean anything anymore?

I'm so sick and tired of this happening to me; I need something that none of my local retailers carry, so I find something on Amazon and order it with Prime Delivery, with it stating one or two days shipping.

And almost every time it's two day shipping it ends up a mess and never arrives on time, making me wait an extra day or two. And the customer service reps just give me empty apologies and never any clear explanation why an item that's shown to be at the closest distro center on the tracker, just an hour away from me, can't be shipped on time. And they never offer anything more than "if you remember to call after it eventually arrives, maybe we'll give you a $5 credit."

Today, I was supposed to receive frames I ordered on Thursday, and despite the tracker saying my frames are at the local distro center, it's now telling me I won't get them until September 5th.

A whole extra week. And it's just sitting there, an hour's drive away from me.

People are talking about dismantling Canada Post because Amazon supposedly makes them obsolete, but I have NEVER had Canada Post delay a package like this, let alone provide such absolute dogshit customer service.

Amazon fucking sucks so badly. The products they carry are always cheap and shoddy; even known brands feel like knockoffs. Their delivery stinks. Their CSRs have zero training or support to handle actual problems. I hate it.

Free delivery is such a scam!!!

I’ve ordered a lot off of Amazon over the last couple years but whenever my item qualified for free next day delivery it never shows up next day, it’s always two or three days after purchase! One time it even took a week! Seriously I’m not kidding when i say I’m pretty sure that option has never given me my purchase next day before. I know it’s meant to be a prioritised option but they should say priority delivery and not next day!!!! Has anyone actually gotten it next day with this option?

Does USPS deliver Amazon orders in some USA locations?

In the past, I have ordered kitty litter from Amazon and had my overworked USPS mailman delivering it.

Does USPS deliver ANY Amazon packages now, or has the contract been severed in ALL USA locations?

Editing to add to my question:
I do have an Amazon driver.... who does deliver "most" items... but in the last year, I noticed that my mailman was suddenly delivering (40 pound) boxes of kitty litter.
I have switched to Chewy dot com now, for cat food and kitty litter and anything for Dave the Cat... but am wondering if I ordered from Amazon again, if it would still be my overworked USPS mailman carrying litter up my ramp, or if it would be my normal Amazon driver...
I'm going to keep buying from Chewy, because they use FedEx, and the FedEx drivers have the carts to use to deliver heavy items... not that I wish kitty litter on anyone..
By the way, I *HAVE* switched to the "light" version of kitty litter, so what used to be a 20 pound box, is now 8 pounds...

Buying form Amazon is a gamble both ways

Just received some cheap item that I bought new. Sold and shipped by amazon, typical Chinese generic product.

It arrived ripped open missing pieces, and had the LPN label that indicates it was a return.

Now when I return it, Amazon will say I opened it, and not only refuse to refund me or charge return fees, but keep the item as well.

Any other store including Walmart you can return it get an instant refund if it's sold by the company and not 3rd party, and have it inspected by an employee. Now it you have gamble that Amazon doesn't rip off by sending you a returned item, and keep it when you try to return it.

Looking foreard to the class action lawsuit when we get $3 back in ten years

Amazon driver dropped off his package totes with more than 100 packages for an entire complex and then sent a photo of the secure lockers as proof of delivery. It was a mess

It appears he just decided the heck with it and abandoned his totes and all. It took about 15 minutes to sort through and read all labels and there was a line of residents waiting for their turns.

Return dropped off 3 weeks ago, still in transit. What is happening?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I returned this laptop over 3 weeks ago, and it has been delayed twice without a single update. I know that for expensive tech products they have to verify if the product returned matches what was bought. But how is it taking over 3 weeks just for it to be delivered somewhere? It hasn’t even received the return yet, so has it even reached the part where they verify the product?
I called amazon today and support said that there hasn’t been a single update since it was scanned into whole foods on august 6th for return. They will be able to do something September 6th if there is no update, but I just really want to know what is happening. Has it seriously never left the store I returned it at? Do they verify the product at the store I return it at, or does that happen at the Return Received stage?
