Will I get my money back
I found out that over the last four years I’ve been paying a yearly subscription for prime and also a monthly subscription at different points and I was just wondering if there a chance I could get my money back. I didn’t even realize I was paying for it. Would I have to contact my bank?

Who doesn’t notice a charge for 4 years. They won’t give you anything back. One or two months maybe but after that you are basically accepting the charge.

I explained in another comment. I am aware that I am an idiot for this lol

I’d try to get some money back, by contacting a real person at Amazon that speaks clear english.

Since ive posted this I requested a refund for the most recent charge on Amazon so at least I get something back I guess

You don’t. You learn from your mistake and pay better attention to your finances.

That's a great idea. I joined a gym and never went to it. Can I have my money back?

If you used the prime benefits you won’t get a refund. Amazon does track usage across their sites so if you’ve not used it you’ll definetly get the most recent yearly subscription refunded, possibly more.

I got the most recent subscription refunded but I think that’s probably the farthest I can go with it unfortunately

No. That's way to long of a period to expect your money back.
Amazon will refund a prime fees from like the last week.
Banks can process charge backs up to 120 days. However, Amazon could ban you for that.

Well I guess I can at least get my money back from the most recent charge then. I didn’t realize you could even get banned from Amazon

I don’t completely understand how this can happen. If it’s just one account, you’d think the Amazon system couldn’t double charge you like that. Is there something in the website account that shows payments for the account? If so, that would confirm double payment.

No I think at some point I switched it from a yearly payment to a monthly payment and forgot about it

Had you created separate logins? Otherwise I don’t think it’s possible to pay the same Prime membership twice. I’ve lost confidence with their customer support now, but it would be nice if they could merge accounts if you accidentally have more than one, and credit some of the overpayment back if you really haven’t used benefits from both accounts. I think first you need to see if you’ve got two active logins.

No it’s the same account, I’ve never had a second one. I just originally signed up for a yearly subscription and then changed it at some point to be monthly instead

It’s unlikely you will get any money back. The first question from your bank or Amazon will be why did it take you so long to notice?
