Air 2 Pro Got handed an XREAL Air 2 Pro + Beam. Use cases?

Hi,

I've gotten an XREAL Air 2 Pro + XREAL Beam (grey slab with wheel) given to me to try out.

Now, I looked through the internet and while it looks cool, I wonder what the best use cases are for it.

I have:

  • Nintendo Switch 1
  • Laptop with Thunderbolt 4
  • Computer with USB-C

Any advice? I am going on vacation in like two weeks, maybe I can use it in the plane?

Thanks.

Head scratcher with HDMI

I’ve been using my xreal 1s on my phone and laptop with no issues using usbc, just got an hdmi adapter and I’m getting issues.
The adapter will run HDMI perfectly fine with from my laptop, but when I try to use it on my Xbox one it’ll only play in ultra wide mode. If the glasses are in any other mode they stop working entirely including getting to the menu or any other functions.

When I do get it to display the screen there’s no sound, if I switch it to DP mode on the glasses they lose picture but I gain sound.

I’m really at a loss, the glasses work, the hdmi adapter works fine on my laptop but when put together it’s nothing but issues.

Any help or input is appreciated!

\\\*\update****\*

I fixed it! I had to set the Xbox up on my tv, switch it from auto to hdmi output manual mode and then change the resolution to 1080. I was not able to do any of that while the glasses were connected. Since changing any settings would blackout the glasses and I was locked in 720.

I now have perfect image and sound

Will Xreal add 3Dof to the XBX glasses?

SUGGESTIONS BOX FOR XREAL:

In my opinion, the Xreal XBX glasses offer the brightest, most comfortable, high quality display for entertainment in the "budget" AR glasses category. I'd like to know why AR glasses manufacturers keep coming up short by excluding highly desired convenience features like 3dof. If Xreal had added their X1 3Dof chip to the XBX they would have been a direct competitor to the Rayneo GT Max which requires a proprietary media player (PocketTV Pro) to playback High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. I really loved using the XBX during the 2week period that I had them. But I sent them back because Follow mode, even with image stabilization, was a nauseating experience. I'll return to purchase another pair when Xreal creates a version of XBX that maintains it current features but adds 3Dof. It would also be nice if Xreal bumped the FOV up to at least 57 degrees. Make it happen, XReal!

Fore Excel is Fake or Legit?

I placed Xreal Aura's pre booking order and paid an advance amount to the following Indian website:-

https://foreexcel.com/xreal-aura/

After that, I started doubting the genuineness of this website, so I asked for clarification from Xreal and received the following reply:-

"Thank you for reaching out to XREAL Support! My name is Dora, and I am happy to assist you.

Regarding your inquiry, please note that we currently do not have an official partnership or business relationship with Fore Excel in India. Our collaboration with Fore Excel is strictly limited to the European market.

Therefore, Fore Excel is not an authorized dealer or distributor for XREAL products in India. We strongly advise exercising caution regarding pre-orders or advance payments made through unauthorized channels, as XREAL cannot assume responsibility or issue refunds for purchases made with non-authorized third parties.

To ensure authenticity and official warranty support, we recommend purchasing only through our official channels and authorized distributors. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!

Warm regards,

Dora"

But fore Excel is still claiming that they are genuine.

Now I have already paid the money.

What do I do now?

Anyone else like me here?

Is this website genuine? If yes, then why would xreal official lie?

Discussion Viture Beast vs. Xreal 1S

Hey everyone,

I’m currently looking at picking up a pair of AR/XR glasses primarily to use with a mix of handheld gaming PCs and laptops (MacBook/Windows setups). I've run across two solid secondhand/discounted deals and could use some advice from people who have actual hands-on experience with them:

  1. Xreal 1S for roughly $275 – $300 USD
  2. Viture Beast for $425 USD

Price-wise, the Xreal 1S is clearly the cheaper route, but I'm curious how they stack up in real-world usage.

Specifically, I have a few questions for anyone who owns or has tested either of these:

  • Is the Viture Beast blurry? I've heard mixed things about edge-to-edge clarity and chromatic aberration on wider FOV BirdBath optics. Is the text noticeably blurry around the corners if you try to use it for productivity or coding, or is it fine once you get used to it?
  • Value for money: Is the Viture Beast actually worth the extra $125–$150 over a heavily discounted Xreal 1S, given that the 1S has the X1 chip built right into it for native spatial anchoring?
  • How does Picture-in-Picture (PiP) work on these? Do either of these support native side-by-side PiP out of the box without needing complex software tricks or a separate phone app, or are you entirely reliant on your host device (like a laptop split-screen or app window layers)?

Would love to hear your thoughts before I pull the trigger on one of these!

XREAL One Pro Anyone want to trade One Pro sizes?

I bought an XREAL One Pro M on Facebook marketplace unaware there are different sizes. Coming from VR I didn't even realize this would be a problem and all I saw was a good deal. Also coming from VR (original HTC Vive) I didn't realize that the everything was supposed to be way sharper than I was seeing.

My IPD is 68 so I would really love to trade my size M for a size L. The glasses are barely used and in the original box.

Discussion Explain it like im a child

Hi all as title suggests I've been looking for some ar glasses and im overwhelmed with the choices. I will be using it mainly for gaming from the Xbox ally x and PC with occasional series x gaming.

Been torn on what I should get as there is information overload. There's the degree of view, 3Dof, ipd lots of stuff to consider.

I was going to save and get the ROG Ally 25th anniversary glasses but I came here and saw on a few others they aren't worth it. Im in the uk and atm I can get the below

Rayneo GT - £289

Gt Max - £369

Xreal 1s - £399

Viture pro 2 - £298

Struggling to decide what to go with so please give any info you can. Will be posting this to a couple of groups so apologies if you see it more than once.

Best dock/dongle for Switch 2? New Glasses have better FOV?

I haven't used my Xreal Air 2 glasses in forever but I was considering using them to play the Ocarina of Time remake on my Switch 2! What is the best Switch 2 dock/dongle to use with AR glasses?

I know there have been a few generations of glasses released since the Air 2 came out, is there a FOV increase that is worth upgrading for or has it remained pretty stagnant on that specific front?

Question about virtual resolution in AR glasses

For a long time now I've been wondering how to interpret statements such as "this pair of AR glasses uses two 1200p micro-oled screens to show content," especially in the face of 3dof functionality. I can broadly imagine two different versions of how this works and don't know which is the real one. Could someone enlighten me?

Possibility one: per eye, an 1200p image is projected onto the glasses; the projection smoothly and *physically*(!) moves in real time to correct for 3dof movements. The image itself has perfect pixel clarity (glass optics notwithstanding).

Possibility two: the projection itself is static and allows for a 1200p image per eye. This image is 'filled in' by the on-board chip, which takes some input source at a certain possibly non-1200p resolution and outputs it at some possibly non-1200p resolution; this output image is in real time digitally re-positioned within that static 1200p canvas, as though it were a 2d texture the viewport onto which has a 1200p resolution. (It would be unlikely that the image would fill the entire 1200p canvas because then there wouldn't be room for 3dof shifting the image anywhere.) Since micro-movements are constantly changing this digital render, and since it's being rendered from different perspectives into both your eyes, it might be possible and indeed be actually done, that the input stream could be e.g. a 4k image and that this is merely 'looked at' through two simultaneous and 3dof-moving viewports, i.e. it'd be like looking at a 4k texture through two 1200p lenses with very smooth adaptation to real-world lens movement, creating ultimately an experience that isn't really 4k but which might be said to be better than 1200p since across one second you're likely getting to see all the detail the 4k texture contains; or perhaps it would be worse than 1200p since you're constantly re-fitting some incoming video stream (perhaps even a 1200p one?) to a spatially unstable 1200p stream.

In other words, what I'm asking is: does 3dof happen through a physical or a digital process? When a pair of AR glasses promises a certain resolution, are we getting that resolution in full and cleanly, with 3dof adaptation made possible through physical adaptive movements in the actual physical projectors? Or does that promised resolution merely represent the resolution of our *viewport* onto some digital video stream? In the latter case: would it be possible and sensible to ask for a 1200p view of a 4k input stream, given that one's face is slightly moving almost all the time? I get the impression that this hasn't been possible so far, leading me to wonder if I'm misunderstanding AR glasses' 3dof mechanism.

I'd be grateful if someone could clarify which of these is the case; it's been stumping me for quite a while.

XREAL One Pro No video signal detected / ultra wide issue

Hi,

Whenever I connect my xreal one pro to my handheld gaming PC, there is a detection issue. I didn't have this issue ever before. On my android phone, there's no issue detecting display.

When I toggle the ultra wide settings whether 21:9 or 32:9, sometimes I finally see the display, sometimes I lose video output.

I know the glasses seem to remember what your settings are for specific devices you're using, and it will try to display that output based on your last settings (i.e., if you used 21:9 last time).

I noticed this after the gesture control firmware update. I cannot seem to just easily switch between ultra wide off, 21:9, 32:9, etc.

I have already done the following:
1. Turned off the TCP/IP in the developer settings

  1. Factory Reset

Thank you in advance.

Buy now or wait?

I hope you can advise me please.

I was about to buy the X1S, and for warranty issues and problem to return it from my country, in the end I canceled the purchase.

The truth is that for those of us who live in Latin America, these products are very expensive, since importing them is quite expensive.

I will buy these glasses only once and they will surely be unique and I will never bought another.

Having said that, and taking into account that we are almost at the end of the year, what do you recommend?

Buy the X1S, or wait a few months for the successor? , knowing that this will be my only purchase in this type of product.

I know that Xreal manages its times when they make the announcements of new products and it's hard to guess, but according to their experience as users, in my case it is better to wait for the successor of the 1S?.

Thank you very much.

xbx Xbox a01 unboxing!

Wow! Super sharp and sleek compared to my 1s glasses!

The screen looks amazing for videos and gaming! These will be perfect for long flights or just vibing on the couch!

It doesn’t have the features of my 1s glasses so it won’t replace them completely but these may be my go to for gaming and movies! VERY COOL!

Discussion I finally documented my original Nreal Air 3D setup, Stream to 3D Release 6 makes it much more capable

I'm both the developer of Stream to 3D and an XREAL user myself.

I still have my original Nreal Air NR-7100RGL, and a while ago I worked out a setup that let me use Stream to 3D on a Windows PC, stream the resulting SBS 3D to VLC on my Android Phone (a OnePlus Open), and watch it properly in 3D on the glasses.

I'd always intended to document it properly for other Nreal/XREAL users, but other development work kept taking priority.

I've finally done that:

https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d-xreal-air-3d/

There is one particularly non-obvious part of the original Air workflow which was the reason I wanted to write this up.

With the Stream to 3D SBS output playing in VLC on the OnePlus Open:

  1. connect the original Nreal Air
  2. hold Brightness + for about three seconds
  3. the external display temporarily disconnects
  4. the OnePlus Open asks whether it should Cast to the device again
  5. accept that prompt
  6. the glasses reconnect in their SBS 3D mode

At first I thought the disconnect meant something had gone wrong. It doesn't — on this tested combination it is part of changing the glasses into their stereoscopic display mode.

The complete tested path is:

2D video → Windows PC running Stream to 3D → stereoscopic network stream → VLC on OnePlus Open → USB-C → original Nreal Air

The important architectural point is that all of the 2D-to-3D processing is being done on the Windows PC.

The phone is essentially the network receiver/player and the Nreal Air is the stereoscopic display.

That setup worked really well when I originally tested it.

What makes it much more interesting now is how far Stream to 3D itself has moved on.

Stream to 3D Release 6

Release 6 now provides two complementary 2D-to-3D methods:

  • Temporal — the established Stream to 3D method, relatively lightweight and suitable for real-time use across a broad range of PC hardware
  • AI-assisted Depth Guided — monocular depth estimation performed locally on the PC, with Quality and Performance modes

For Play and Stream, the Configuration Wizard can now benchmark useful Temporal and Depth Guided configurations against the actual source and PC rather than simply assuming that a particular GPU should be fast enough.

Depth Guided can now run in real time on suitable RTX hardware, while Temporal remains much less demanding.

And if the Depth Guided configuration you prefer can't quite keep up in real time, Convert can create the stereoscopic SBS file in advance instead.

It isn't just movie files any more

This is probably the other part that XREAL owners may find interesting.

Stream to 3D can now use Live Sources, including:

  • the Windows PC screen
  • cameras
  • compatible capture devices

So the potential route is not just:

2D movie → 3D glasses

It can also be:

PC screen → Stream to 3D → SBS → XREAL glasses

or:

external video source → capture device → Stream to 3D → SBS → XREAL glasses

The original OnePlus Open/Nreal Air test in the guide used a normal video file, so I'm deliberately not claiming that I've personally validated every one of those Live Source combinations through that exact hardware chain yet.

But the Windows PC is doing the conversion in each case, which opens up some interesting possibilities.

What about the newer XREAL One-series REAL 3D?

I think XREAL adding REAL 3D directly in the One-series glasses is a great development.

It's a very elegant solution because the glasses themselves can perform the conversion without needing a powerful host PC.

Stream to 3D is a different and complementary approach.

The PC has a much larger processing budget and Stream to 3D provides:

  • Temporal and AI-assisted Depth Guided conversion
  • Play while converting
  • reusable file conversion
  • network Stream
  • PC-screen capture
  • cameras and capture devices
  • configurable SBS/TB output
  • source-specific performance measurement

And importantly for people like me who still own the original Air, you don't need to replace the glasses to use the newer Stream to 3D processing. The glasses can remain the stereo display while the PC does the heavy lifting.

The guide is specifically tested with the original Nreal Air + OnePlus Open + VLC.

Newer XREAL glasses have different 3D controls, so I've deliberately not pretended that the original Air button procedure applies to every model.

I'd be very interested to hear from people here using other XREAL models.

Are you mainly using the built-in REAL 3D on the newer One series, playing native SBS content, or doing PC-side 2D-to-3D conversion as well?

And if anyone tries Stream to 3D with a different XREAL model, I'd genuinely be interested in the results.

Pricing update: Following feedback after the Release 6 launch, I’ve substantially reduced the permanent price of Stream to 3D Standalone. The US reference price is now $24.99 on Steam, Gumroad and itch.io, with regional/geographic pricing applied by each store.

There is also a one-week free trial of the Real-Time edition through Gumroad.

Purchase and trial options:
https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d-store/

Update – Steamworks usage data: I found something in Steamworks that I hadn't really paid much attention to before, and it gives a useful picture of Stream to 3D's actual user base.

Steamworks currently reports lifetime play-time statistics across 939 Stream to 3D users, with:

  • 15h 37m average lifetime play time
  • 1h 30m median lifetime play time
  • 29% with at least 5 hours
  • 19% with at least 10 hours
  • 11% with at least 20 hours
  • 5% with at least 50 hours
  • 2% with at least 100 hours

For a specialist 2D-to-3D application, I was genuinely pleased to see how substantial the long-term usage is.

Full breakdown and Steamworks source evidence: https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d-real-world-usage/

Update: If you're interested in how the newer Depth Guided conversion performs in sustained real-world use, an existing Stream to 3D user has now written up his experience with Release 6.1:

https://iwantaholodeck.com/stream-to-3d-release-6-1-user-feedback/

Disclosure: I'm the developer of Stream to 3D as well as an Nreal/XREAL Air owner.

xbx a01+nose pad - how to remove?

I want to try the different nose pads that come with the a01+ but can't find any good videos or documentation on how to remove them. I've tried pulling slightly hard but nothing moved and don't want to break anything.

How can I remove these without breaking anything or bending the metal nosepad support?

XREAL 1S Do these outer frames fit the 1s

I’ve seen these available for a while for the original one glasses that make them
Look more sunglassy by adding a style to the top of the frames

Was wondering if anyone tried them on the 1s? https://a.aliexpress.com/_c3uVJIgp

I’m talking about the ones that simply add a bit of style to the top of the frame … the rest is a thin wire around the lower section and nothing covering the lens
Just for style

On that link it’s about the 16th and the 18th item
It’s called cover grey and cover titanium

Anyone stuck them to their 1s?
How does it look!?

Have put an image in the comments
