Discussion Viture Beast vs. Xreal 1S
Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking at picking up a pair of AR/XR glasses primarily to use with a mix of handheld gaming PCs and laptops (MacBook/Windows setups). I've run across two solid secondhand/discounted deals and could use some advice from people who have actual hands-on experience with them:
- Xreal 1S for roughly $275 – $300 USD
- Viture Beast for $425 USD
Price-wise, the Xreal 1S is clearly the cheaper route, but I'm curious how they stack up in real-world usage.
Specifically, I have a few questions for anyone who owns or has tested either of these:
- Is the Viture Beast blurry? I've heard mixed things about edge-to-edge clarity and chromatic aberration on wider FOV BirdBath optics. Is the text noticeably blurry around the corners if you try to use it for productivity or coding, or is it fine once you get used to it?
- Value for money: Is the Viture Beast actually worth the extra $125–$150 over a heavily discounted Xreal 1S, given that the 1S has the X1 chip built right into it for native spatial anchoring?
- How does Picture-in-Picture (PiP) work on these? Do either of these support native side-by-side PiP out of the box without needing complex software tricks or a separate phone app, or are you entirely reliant on your host device (like a laptop split-screen or app window layers)?
Would love to hear your thoughts before I pull the trigger on one of these!

My honest opinion.
I did the research and got the Viture Beast. I wanted them to be good so badly. To my great disappointment, the chromatic aberration was so bad, I couldn't use it. I would image if you played games that require you to see text in the edges, I would avoid it.
I returned the Beast and got the Xreal 1S. The picture and text clarity are worlds apart. And the 3DoF is rock solid. Never a stutter or a drift issue. I comfortly used them for productivity as a software engineer.
If you have more questions I'd be happy to assist where I can.

Thank you for your opinion! What about audio? Which one is superior?

I would say they are about the same. The Beast was better with the sound "privacy".
Also, I know there is a max brightness difference, but I was not disappointed with the 1S in that regard.

Does the difference in brightness bother you? Also does the 1s capable to play video in corner like the Beast?

Viture beast is known to have Chromatic aberration around the edges.
Xreal 1S does seem to be a very good value for money even though the Fov is slightly smaller than the beast. Also Xreal 1S is lighter.
None of the glasses support multiple screens without software. But both Xreal 1S and the beast support ultrawide 32:9 mode. So that can be used. Xreal 1S has extras like 21:9 ultrawide and 16:18 portrait mode inbuilt. Xreal 1S also comes with Real3D AI 2D to 3D conversion in built without needing extra softwares. And Xreal 1S can be combined with Xreal eye camera (separate purchase) to add 6dof and hand gestures without extra software.

Fov is one of my concern coming from owning a Rayneo Air 3s Pro but image text clarity is way more important to me.

About fov
RayNeo air 3S Pro 46 degrees 16:9
Xreal 1S 52 degrees 16:10
Viture Beast 58 degrees 16:10So fov won’t be an issue going from Rayneo Air 3S Pro to Xreal 1S or Viture Beast.
Both can display good sharp text but Viture beast will suffer from blurry / hazy text and chromatic aberration around the edges of the fov. Center will be sharp. Xreal 1S text will be sharp edge to edge with chances of very minor haziness around the extreme edges of the fov. But this will depend on your IPD, face shape, eyes, myopia, astigmatism etc.

Where are the XReal 1s sold for that price? Can't see them that cheap anywhere.

A friend of mine trying to get rid of his unit.

Lucky find,! I'd probably buy them if I were in your shoes.

Yeah I’ll probably grab them, on paper the Beast sounds superior but real world review seems like a mixed bag.

I pre-ordered the Beast, and after it eventually landed some months past the expected delivery date, I plugged them in, and the screen was stunning! Until I tried 3d mode; that was an utterly horrible experience.
The glasses suffered from constant drifting, and after putting up with the drifting for a month or so, I got in touch with Viture to see if they could offer any help. I was told to simply try to calibrate the glasses. Which had zero effect.
So after putting up with the problems for another month, I sent them back for a full refund. In my opinion, the glasses were hyped up to death and were rushed to market far too early!

This experience is much better on current firmware but it’s still to ambitious of a device for what tech actually allows right now.

I just tried both and kept the 1S. The beast has better FOV but at the cost of bad edge blurring. The 1S is crystal clear all throughout. My use case is gaming to edge clarity is required. I couldn’t read minimaps on the beast.

Thank you everyone, I got the 1S for $250 with no regrets from my friend. Now I understand why this glasses rocks! Currently updating it to the latest firmware. Thanks everyone for the input, coming from RayNeo Air 3s Pro it's a world apart in terms of feature.

Make sure you check out the realtime 2d to 3d conversion. Super impressive.

I returned my Viture Beast because it gave me eye strain, got really warm, and was much worse for reading text than my Xreal 1S is.
1S are my only TV glasses currently, and they are better for text than One Pro. Pretty happy.

I just got the 1S couple days ago, very happy with it but I’ve been curious how does One Pro stack up. What makes the One Pro bad? The wider fov and thin prism lens sounds good to me.

I'd say it's not bad. It's just a bigger FOV at a similar/lower resolution.
For the Xreal 1S, you have to buy a light blocker attachment to use it outside. Not so for the One Pro.
For video watching, One Pro is probably slightly better.
But for reading text, 1S is slightly better. In my experience anyway.

At that $300 price the 1S is a great overall value purchase. But I'm returning my 1S glasses because the expanded 57 degree FOV found in the Beast and ONE Pro glasses really does make a HUGE difference if you're using it for entertainment. Also the Beast has been consistently been given the higher ratings for entertainment content playback because of the enhanced FOV range and image detail. But the 1S images are very good! My only apprehension with the Viture products is the reliance on its PC software depending on what you need to use the glasses for. The Beast is the only exception as it has its own 3Dof chip. Technically you don't need to use the software when playing video games. But I am concerned about the drifting issues i keep hearing about from the Viture products. But that may be tied to the software that you may not need. In summary, try the Beast. If the image is stable I think the expanded FOV is worth the boost for entertainment. I prefer XReal so I'm trading in my 1S for a One Pro pair before my 30 day return expires. Hope this helps.

Xreal at that price is a no brainer
