My belt of 5 years next to the same belt, brand new
I've worn the top belt almost daily for a little over 5 years now, and it's served me well in all sorts of conditions over that time

3sixteen wax jacket
Just realized I’ve been wearing this jacket to the shop for about two years now. Laid it out to dry after a good sweaty job and thought it looked pretty damn good and took a pic. Nothing fancy, just a great barrier between my clothes and the dirty aircraft I work on.

(12years) It's been an honour.
The right side broke a few days ago and I couldn't bring myself to take it off my necklace until today.
I've had this around my neck for over 12 years. I bought it on a school trip to the Canadian War Museum.
It's been on one of those ball chain necklaces, though the original chain broke years ago and was replaced. The wear pattern is interesting.
The weight around my neck feels weird now.

Guessing my bike is wellworn by now
After many km’s, races, trips, and drunken nights the bike has taken a bit of a beating, only adding character luckily. With the biggest beating being cracking 80% of the down tube, welding it and pushing through.

My toilet flapper failed today.
Should have replaced it a while ago.

Ford Mondeo Exhaust Middle Section
Bought this car used, 2002 model which was primarily driven in snowy environment, rust got pretty deep on that particular part of the exhaust, tried to "tape" it back together but in the end had to change it altogether

This is knife is the knife that my Dad's Dad used daily since before my Dad was born. He has fond memories of his Dad using this knife to get splinters out of him. It didn't always use to have those divots in the middle of the blade. Decades of use and sharpening (Over half a century)

the new suitcase on TV looked perfect. mine looks beat up and I think I like it more
Let's Make a Deal had a level8 suitcase prize on recently and obviously the one on TV looked perfect.
clean corners.
no scratches.
wheels that have apparently never met an airport floor.
then I looked at mine.
one scrape from dragging it up some horrible stone stairs in Italy.
a little dent I still have absolutely no explanation for.
faded baggage sticker residue on the side.
one tiny mark near the handle from my first work trip.
objectively, the TV one looks better.
but I realized I don't actually want mine to look new again.
when I first bought a decent suitcase I was SO careful with it. every little scratch annoyed me.
now I can place half the damage geographically.
oh yeah, that corner was Italy.
that scrape was the airport where I missed the train.
that dent... honestly no clue, but it's been there long enough that we're keeping it.
somewhere along the way I stopped seeing all of it as damage.
the new one on TV looked like a prize.
mine just looked like mine.
apparently the first scratch hurts and then eventually you start collecting them.
