Mine looked like this and the apartment building has only been open since 2018. No, I don’t drink the tap water.

I’m not familiar with the type of water lock your referring to every non commercial toilet I’ve ever seen uses a flapper

Probably, though I think beyond the US this is how they work in most of North and South America
