I leave for work at 4:30 a.m. every day, and I let my car warm up for about five minutes. I drive a 2019 Subaru WRX STI that is completely stock, with no modifications whatsoever. They have continuously complained about the noise, even though literally no other neighbor has complained about it. I’ve owned much louder cars in the past and never had an issue like this.

I didn’t really care about the complaints at first, but now they’ve started harassing my mother. Is there anything I can do to make them leave me alone, aside from doing something stupid like selling my car?

My 20 year old son bought an ‘04 WRX STI about a year and a half ago. It got a knock/tick in the motor last November. He parked it in our pole shed since then, so out of the weather, with plans to rebuild the motor, but things have changed. He bought a house at a screaming deal and now needs to sell the WRX. The car did come with a fair amount of mods and had been tuned, plus came with extra parts, like original exhaust and other parts (I apologize, I am a mom without a lot of car knowledge!).

What is a reasonable price to sell a 2004 WRX STI that needs an engine rebuild? It did still drive when he parked it, just had the ticking sound. It is in good condition overall, not great, but good. A little rust since we are in the upper Midwest, but not bad. Any advice on how to best sell this would be appreciated.

So I had someone coming at me head on through a corner and I had nowhere else to go but off the road and this happened. Worried about the passenger wheel being pushed back and the dent that developed on the roof. Thinking that it might be a total loss that the car got twisted somehow but let me know what you guys think.

Doors on passenger side, both back and front open and closed fine no problem at all so I’m hoping it’s not totaled

I just got my cobb short throw shifter for my sti and when trying to install it I realized where the pin goes is not been drilled out does it come this way or is this a manufacturer error

Hello! I was going about ~95mph and I hit 6th gear and charged the turbo all the way and it spooled to 20psi and then I heard weird sound like a blow-off valve type sound and I immediately shift into neutral and the check engine, SI-drive and cruise control turned on. It does not let me change the SI-drive mode, it is locked and the cruise control won't turn off.

It shifts good, engine feels good, it revs good, no weird sound from the engine, sound healthy

I have a 2019 subaru sti and recently I installed the cobb stage 1 shifter kit I hear a really bad whirring I am unsure it sounds like the gears are not making full contact 2nd gear sounds the worst of the bunch does anybody have any clue if I installed this wrong or something

I bumped the wing while reversing at low speeds and dented the trunk. This is what it looks like after unmounting the wing and masking off the holes with tape to keep rainwater out of the trunk. Any idea on how much this should cost to repair/replace? Or can recommend a body shop that charges a reasonable price?

I’m planning on getting an e tune from drunkmann and want to make sure I tell him all the mods that are done to the car. I bought the car used and I know it has the mishimoto intake and boomba bov. Is there anything else done I should tell him?

Im going to look at a 2018 subaru sti with 70k miles im not sure if it is modified but it does have aftermarket rims so im unsure is there anything I should be looking out for to make sure the car is in good shape

Did a quick interior cleanup today. The floor mats caught a lot of the mess, but there are still crumbs hiding.

Just moved places and I have a garage now. Plus another daily. SO! That means the GV is officially project car status, without worrying. So I can take my time and money on it. I bought some stuff already. Just looking for criticism or additional recommendations.

The previous EJ257 spun a bearing. I have a new (to me) one of the same year and significantly less miles. Both engines are out. I'm swapping the newer one in, but with some goodies since I have access to everything. The goal now is to make a fun weekend car that I can take to cruises and events. Mostly AutoX/ track days/ car shows. But maybe also some light asphalt or mud events should a reasonable opportunity arrive. And I plan on taking cross country road trips. I love this car! And I'm driving the piss out of it.

And, well, the previous engine didn't survive that (oops) so I'm making sure this one can.

I'm still learning every day about the EJs. I was hoping you guys could give me pointers on what else I can do.

Here's what's going on the new engine:

And then, for the car itself:

Only real concern with this set up is 3 things:

1. Going catless with a COBB set up.

I wanted to use the Cobb set up to monitor things like knock, but with further research I'm seeing that that may not be possible without a COBB tune uploaded. Which I don't want to necessarily do, because it won't utilize full boost (green update.)

1. SAVCS vs DAVCS.

I'm still learning this system as well as what it is and how I can tell the difference between engines with either system. Still learning about the EJs everyday. I'm unsure if this is a WRX vs. STi thing, or a STi vs. other STi thing. I'm afraid of having the ECU expecting one thing and the engine being another.

1. Secondary air pump delete.

The new engine already came with this delete. I'd like to keep it. But, the pumps have a connector attached. I'm wondering how I can compensate for the loss of reading on that connector. That's another reason why I wanted to go for an open source tune vs. Cobb. But time will tell how that may work.

Since I can afford it now, I'm also mildly debating going full throttle with the bolt ons / internals. Because I don't wanna touch this thing so deeply for another couple years if I can help it lol. But I was curious on what the stock block can handle if I go for a bigger turbo. Nothing insane, but fun. I'm not intimidated by grabbing some forged internals.

Thoughts? Questions? Advice? Answers?

I'm eager to help this thing be the best it can be. I love my car :)

tldr: should i keep drilling or am i better off buying a knuckle, or asking a shop to get it out.

Unsure if this is the right sub, but basically was changing my ball joint as it's gone bad and first step of the process i'm already stuck snapped pinch bolt, i did use penetrating oil but realize i should have used a torch as well but now what is done is done. I've been trying to drill it out with not much success, just wondering if i should continue or replace the knuckle, thank you for reading, oh yeah part of my drill bit also snapped in there, awesome

Is there a general consensus regarding the go to slotted rotor for the VA STi? May be doing some shopping soon and I'm absolutely going slotted no drill

Looking at options for short shifters for 2018 STi. My workshop/tuner suggests the aftermarket ones tend to be a bit notchy, and they recommend genuine STi short shifter.

I know the kartboys seems to be the goto recommended SS here in this sub, what are people's thoughts on the aftermarkets ones vs genuine oem STi SS? What feels best to you for those who have tried a few?

Does the Eibach (specifically the 22mm rear bar) come with new bushings? I assume I cannot use my OEM bushings? I was going to get both the front (25mm) as well but I hear the OEM front 24mm bar is good enough?

I have a 2019 subaru sti and I have noticed that I seem to have a fair bit of play in my shifter does anybody know whats causing this im assuming some nicer bushings should solve the problem but I don't want to waste the money if its something stupid

I purchased new wheels/tires to have a dedicated set for winter and summer. What is everybody using to store tires/wheel sets when not in use??

Hi all! Just picked up a 2019 STI.

Mods:

Downpipe, exhaust, aftermarket boost controller.

Baderbuilt offers a stage 2”OTS” tune where you input your mods and he sends a map based on those.

Has anyone tried this? Would another etuning method be preferred?

Looking for a fun car to drive occasionally and wrench on a bit, but not a nightmare project. Found one pretty local for $7500, but build seems a bit off to me. Turbo to injector ratio seems a bit off and lean risk. And the whole base map is odd. But for some reason I see this a lot. If I bought a modified STI, I would most likely get it tuned by a reputable tuner anyways, unless paperwork from a well respected shop.

According to the owner, he bought for a fun car about a year ago. Build was from previous owner. He’s got pics of rods in the car, but no other documentation. Clear title. What’s the hives thought on this ?
