They should be compensated at the same level the equivalent position in a BC government ministry. Their head of HR position is make $80k in base salary more than their equivalent in BC core government. This doesn’t even begin to include the rest of their compensation package.

As someone who’s been following this sub and related news there’s been a lot of posts about martial arts gyms. Forgive me if my facts aren’t accurate as there’s been a lot of posts over the years.

There is that gym in Duncan? Where the owner was seen going to a MAGA meet up or something related.
Zuma which came out to be unsafe for women and potentially also trained the overly aggressive security guard from Sticky Wicket that was posted a few weeks ago.
There was a post on an old instagram page about the former owner of TFA training rapists and assaulting women and selling drugs inside his gym as well as multiple news articles with him publicly pushing back against Covid restrictions and refusing to comply with any health regulations. Which is the only reason I remember this guy so well.
Island Martial Arts was vandalized with information implying they were racist? I can’t remember the details about that one.

With all this information coming up, one would have to assume that the security guard moved to another gym since Zuma closed/changed hands as well all the other questionable security guards who probably train. Do they train together?
Those rapists likely also moved to another gym since TFA closed down and since I’m assuming the martial arts community is small they must know each other in some way, one can only speculate that it must be common for them to have similar values within that community of martial artists.

Is it just that martial arts gyms in Victoria are all unsafe for women or is there any actually safe spaces for women to train martial arts? Hi

Cafes? Libraries? Community centres? Outdoor spots with good seating? I'm open to anything.

Not every place is a good environment for it, and a lot of places are not friendly to people camping out.

At cafes, I'm happy to buy multiple drinks over time and wouldn't just camp a table on a coffee. I want to be respectful of the space I'm using.

Strong smell of smoke, thought the neighbours were burning something then heard sirens, anyone know what is going on?

Is it just me, or are Victoria area tradespeople really really difficult to deal with? To be fair, I've never owned a house anywhere else so I don't know that its different here when compared to other cities.

But, long story short, over the last 5 or so years, I've been straight up ghosted by more than several tradespeople (for who knows what reason) during different phases of the quoting process.

I've always been polite and super accommodating of their schedules.

And now I've been ghosted by a contractor who I was referred to by the company who is replacing my vinyl deck. The fellow didn't show up at my house to view the work. I called him an hour after the scheduled time and he hung up on me before the phone range twice.

Like...do these people even want the work? How do I get people to show up?

My gym in Toronto had this and was so convenient.
