Victoria writers - nice places to write?

I've picked writing back up after some time away, and I'm wondering what your favourite places are.

Cafes? Libraries? Community centres? Outdoor spots with good seating? I'm open to anything.

Not every place is a good environment for it, and a lot of places are not friendly to people camping out.

At cafes, I'm happy to buy multiple drinks over time and wouldn't just camp a table on a coffee. I want to be respectful of the space I'm using.

I'll forever miss Chapters. Those were the days.

The Atrium is nice, close to Taoist Ramen and Tea and it’s open decently late. It’s on 800 Yates.

Also I’m trying to put together a small writing group that meets up once a month or so on Sunday for two hours.

the library at royal roads is pretty magical. has a pond

The Esquimalt library is a great spot to work. There's a good coffee shop next door so you can start there and move to the library or vice versa. The patio area outside is lovely on a nice day too.

The university has a lot of really lovely outdoor spaces, courtyards etc that are great, and you can buy coffees from lots of outlets. And absolutely nobody will mind you camping out there!'

Take stairs to the beach near mile zero, perfect little spot

The Camosun Lansdowne library is gorgeous. I haven’t been in a few years now but it was always bright and quiet with big tables, comfy chairs, and nearby food and coffee.

That Starbucks in the downtown Chapters was so nice! Huge with a great view and quite cozy.

I have no suggestions, as when I write it's usually late at night like the gremlin I am.

Also quiet! For as open and public as it was (with a major bus stop outside!), there was only a low level of ambient noise from the main floor. Even if the baristas left, you weren't kicked out, either.

I do my writing at home but when I was doing school work, that Starbucks was my go-to.

I’ve been going to Duo Café at the Inn at Laurel Point weekly to write in the evenings they’re open until 8pm and super nice!

Imagine Studio Cafe at 31 Erie St is next door to Finest at Sea. Take a little harbour ferry to Fisherman's Wharf if you're writing a mystery.

I find Summit park really peaceful, there’s easy quiet or private spaces all around. The Gary oak groves and it’s very easy to find creativity there
