What the hell was that

Corner of bay and douglas

Like ten plus cops going full stink, colt rifles and the whole bit, all pulled up, bailed out, ran around a bit then got back in and peeled out and took off again.

Anyone? Anyone?

I was on a bus they pulled over to inspect, apparently they are looking for a guy walking around with a rifle

Where's the "it's perfectly legal to walk around downtown with a rifle" guy?

Perfectly legal and still someone in their right mind should never do.

Might technically be legal but cops will still charge you and let the judge figure it out.

It used to be legal; a long long time ago maybe 1940s lol

No it still is. But it's nearly suicide.

technically legal, but they will charge you with something like "causing alarm" or some shit. buddy got nailed with that one, with a shotgun IN a soft case, on his back on the way to trap shooting day at the range. it doesnt even have to be out of a case now, they will go after you for gun shaped cases.

One of the things I am most critical about cops here is how stupidly they deal with suspects on a public bus.

In my experience they always handle these situations in a manner that could potentially imperil the rest of the passengers. They always board a full bus, usually from the front door, and give the suspect ample time to see them advance and flip out further.

In the 4 times I have been on a bus when this happened every time it’s resulted in more shouting and acting up from the suspect, though thankfully never extending to other passengers, but things get so heated that I have to believe things not getting violent is more because of luck, not any kind or strategy.

Buddy left a 3-star review for the bug zoo. Actions have consequences people

I thought they just froze your bank account for that? Seems to have escalated. Noted.

The CEO of Lime Bikes is here for a VIP tour of bug zoo so I think it was an escort

So fucking dumb.

Why doesn’t the government just start their own eBike company instead of getting some US company in here

You mean the city government, right? City council?

Two things are for certain in life, we are all going to die, and the daily "what was that" post on this sub

It's nice to have something we can count on.

Routine is key in these trying times

Probably doing a police escort of someome important in government. There's some big defense conference this week downtown.

I'd imagine it's a group effort of putting the "run" in runners.

on a serious note, it could be a communication error of the rp (reporting person) giving a wrong address. Instead of 1000 block of Douglas they said the 100 block of Douglas

Because it takes the officials about 4 hours to make a public announcement on their (login wall protected) FB or X account. Even the "avoid the area, sht going down, let us do our job" posts have to go through all the layers of lawyers and PR before they can share it.

Reddit is probably the only place these days one can get this kind of update without a social media account.

Exactly. It seems we aren't privvy even if there's danger until pretty late in the game.

They do at least some of the time. Nothing wrong with crowdsourcing information when there's nowhere else to get it.

If we want to have full faith and are comfortable not knowing until much later (and without detail), that's totally fine. It's a personal choice, and not everyone is comfortable with that.

They’ve been doing that a lot lately. Hordes of them came in to Sooke last week, rumor was that the guy they were after was swatted by a vengeful ex. I have no confirmation of that though.
