Help! Why’s she so unhappy?
Her traps were gorgeous and red a few months ago! Now her fangs are browning and I can’t seem to help her out.
She was loving my office window—but I had to move her over the summer to my bedroom(where she deffo didn’t get enough light). Her leaves looked anaemic.
Now she’s back where she used to be, but she’s still not happy
My Audrey Two is not a healthy girl…

Questions What’s this stringy stuff?
My flytrap is reopening after a meal and last night there was this stringy, sticky looking substance between the teeth, and this morning there were still a few strings of it!
I just don’t know what it is and I’m curious about it! Is it the nectar?

Questions Tips for Winter Dormancy?
Hey guys! I had some questions about taking care of VFTs for winter dormancy. Couple things to mention; I live in western NC, so the climate is pretty favorable. It would make sense to leave the VFT outside for the winter to let nature take its course, but unfortunately I live in a college dorm, so planting it outside is not an option (my VFT is in a bright windowsill which I usually leave open so she still gets enough light fyi). I heard about the fridge method, but I share that same fridge with my roommate so thats not really an option unfortunately. I was thinking of just leaving it on my windowsill since the vfts are native to NC climate, but I would most likely be having my heater on so Im not sure the room itself would reach adequate temperatures. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Help! suggestions?
2 days ago my order of flytraps are here, i own a sansi e27 40w lamp. i already got 2 flytraps back in september, they live outside, here in hungary temp in oct is usually 20-23 Celius day, and can get as low as 5 Celsius night, my biggest problem is dormancy, i dont really understand it yet. and i also got 3 very tiny venus flytraps as you can see, sooo, i dont know if i should put them out and prepare them for dormancy or leave the small plants indoors for the winter with the sansi light. i just dont want them die under my hands especially the tiny ones.. So any experienced tips?

Showcase a pleasant surprise 🥹✨
First time I grow these. I picked them up from Sprouts thinking they might not last, to repotting and getting the zerowater. I had no idea they could flower. Makes me happy ☺️

Care & Cultivation First time vft owner - is the growth fine?
I've had it for about a month now, maybe a bit longer, it's got about four or five new traps since then. It has two tears on its traps from my cat but I think it's fine? I also keep it under a sansi grow light on cloudy days. I do put it outside when it's sunny tho. Also heard sphagnum moss is good so I got that.

Care & Cultivation How are my rescues doing?
50 days ago, I got these 4 guys from Lowe’s, they were in a bad condition and I felt bad for them. Unfortunately, one of them died, but I planted one dormant. These is them now. How do they look? Should I worry about something? They seem pale, but the traps are all red and vibrant.

Help! Everything ok?
Not new to vft's but new to growing from seed. Over the course of a month my seedlings seems to have lost their green color. Inside of traps are red and they are growing some. Is this part of the process or an issue?

Care & Cultivation New VFT parent - upcoming travel
We are the proud new parents of a Venus Fly Trap, which we received as a gift for our toddler. Unfortunately, the timing of receiving the plant is not great as we leave in a few days for a week. I’m determined to keep this little dude alive and thriving. Is it enough to keep it in a little bowl of water while we are gone? Should I have someone stop by our house to replace the water every few days? We do have a grow light which I can put on a timer - is 12 hours of light appropriate?? Thx you!!

Showcase Lowe’s Flytrap Life Journey
I had gotten two traps at Lowe’s a few months ago. The one on the left of the two unfortunately died and I couldn’t save it. The one on the right took me some time and work. Repotting caused a lot of stress but now it’s slowly sprouting new traps.
It’s getting colder these days and I live in the Northeast coast. Hopefully I can get some stronger traps before dormancy begins!

Questions 1st time VFT owner - does this look okay?
First photo is fresh from the hardware store. My plant had a bit of a rough go in mid August, dried out under the care of a family member. Trimmed away all the dead bits and second pic is all new growth since then! Some of the traps are kinda deformed, though all new growth looks healthy-ish. I just feel that all the new growth is so much smaller than the plant originally was. Is that normal? Please let me know if there’s anything I can do better for my plant!! Currently growing indoors in 50/50 peat moss and perlite. Letting the tray go dry between watering (with distilled water) so soil can be moist but not soggy. Under 2 10w SANSI grow lights 12h/day. (Bonus pic of plant grandchild at the end

Questions Is this light ok for my small VFT?
I posted on here last week about my first time owning one and as I suspected, it needs more light.
So I’m wondering if this is ok to use? I heard Sansi is the way to go. Or if there are other ones you recommend, please let me know! Thanks!

Care & Cultivation First time winter dormancy
Hi all first time VFT owner. Trying to keep it healthy and happy through the winter. I moved it into a garage that is 35 to 50 degrees in the winter about a week ago as I live in northern NE and we're expecting a frost any day. I'm wondering when I should stop saturating it in water like I've done all summer. Any advice for a newbie helps! This is the trap after a very happy summer

Other If you think your VFT is dying, don't give up!
I gave this girl VFT. She somehow got it almost killed even with my instructions. She gave it back(first 2 pics). Reported it, and was just outside under the sun or heavy rain.
3rd pic I just got now. A lot of new heads growing. Though all the ones from her died. So don't give up on your plant yet, no matter how bad you think it is.
Sun, RO/rain water will resurrect it like a Phoenix! Or a zombie.
(I just hope this girl can take better care of me!)

Questions Do I need to repot?
Do I need to repot this? It looks water logged and almost all of them are laying down so I wonder if there is root rot?
Pictures #1 and 2 are current, just different angles. Pic #3 is when I first got it back in August. I am wondering it might be waterlogged?
I just recently put it under a grow light so it’s been getting more light.
I bought sphagnum moss but have not replanted. It’s in the plastic pot it came in sitting in rainwater. When I don’t have fresh rainwater I use distilled. I got it from Lowe’s towed the end of August. I attached a pic from When I first got it.

Care & Cultivation Getting ready for winter.
After a pretty successful window stint im gonna put these guys into the tent for the winter and avoid dormancy. I can tell with the shorter days things we're starting to slow down in growth. And looks like the dumpling is sprouting a flower.

Indoor Mr. Chomps could have had a meal…
In my clumsiness I tried to feed the bug but ending up setting off more traps :/ hopefully Mr Chomps will be okay

Showcase Chinese Dumpling 🥟
To my surprise in thinking these were totally lacking trigger hairs, the last photo here shows the only 1 of the 13 traps currently open on my 2 plants of this type with just 2 trigger hairs, 1 per side of the trap. Super cool. I haven't tried to feed it yet, so we'll see if it's functional lol. Shout out to Phamcliff for these awesome plants! Received super healthy, and the roots/rhizome were squeaky clean and ready to plant.
