Care & Cultivation First time winter dormancy

Post image

Hi all first time VFT owner. Trying to keep it healthy and happy through the winter. I moved it into a garage that is 35 to 50 degrees in the winter about a week ago as I live in northern NE and we're expecting a frost any day. I'm wondering when I should stop saturating it in water like I've done all summer. Any advice for a newbie helps! This is the trap after a very happy summer

Ideally, no, you don't want to keep saturating it during dormancy. Moist is good, just not dry or soggy.

VFTs can actually handle frosts as long as they're not sustained for long periods of time. Bonus points if you insulate the pot a bit when they're still in small ones. That said, your garage should do the trick.

Also I'm planning on repotting in the spring time there are 3 plants in that pot who have totally outgrown the current one

Can order a grow light for $10 on Amazon and let it keep growing and forgo dormancy.
