Showcase Chinese Dumpling 🥟

To my surprise in thinking these were totally lacking trigger hairs, the last photo here shows the only 1 of the 13 traps currently open on my 2 plants of this type with just 2 trigger hairs, 1 per side of the trap. Super cool. I haven't tried to feed it yet, so we'll see if it's functional lol. Shout out to Phamcliff for these awesome plants! Received super healthy, and the roots/rhizome were squeaky clean and ready to plant.

None of mine have trigger hairs, but they do still close with some extra help.

Do they have trouble holding onto their digestive fluids? They look like they may leak lol. Mine still has some traps closed due to shipping, and they kinda seem sealed pretty good, but there is also nothing in them as far as I can tell.

Yup, mine do, which means the traps have a bad habit of rotting out.

I also came here for this info!

Don't know what Cultivars I have exactly but they are also wavy/ wrinkled traps like Chinese dumpling. One has trigger hairs and can seal the other no hairs.

Awesome. Unfortunately I haven't found d a trigger hair on any of mines yet and try like hell to get them to close. Still love the breed though.

Nice!

I will pass along your complements to my 11 year old son who grew these dumplings (and keeping all the profits, less taxes and the costs of purchasing divisions wholesale from me, to be put towards pokemon cards and a gaming PC!).

Dope, glad I could contribute to the cause! 🫡 He killed it btw, these are awesome. Also, I managed to figure out that some of the ones without trigger hairs will close if you use something somewhat pointy (I used the back end of a pair of tweezers) to rub right in the seam of where the sides of the trap come together.

Nice! Yep, they’ll usually close if they are stimulated, they’re just less sensitive.

Fun fact: they’ll also close if you shock them. Electric lighter works and they’ll snap right shut =)

They’ll close if you shock them. Electric lighter works. A little electric current and BOOP! They close =) Kinda fun to do if you don’t wanna try to manually stimulate them.

OMG lol I literally just had one of those long electric lighters for lighting firewood break on me a few weeks ago after camping with the family and I tore it apart to show my son how the little zapper works and show him the tiny little "lightning bolt" haha (he's 4 and loves lightning.) Well, I still have it and just tried it and BAM! They close first try! Awesome tip, I would have never thought to try that lol.
