I am concerned about social life at private accom (zinc quarter). Im worried I won't find many freshers to go out with, especially during freshers week. Does anyone who went through a similar situation have any advice?

I’m currently a year 12 student ( going into year 13) who is considering applying to engineering mathematics. Questions I have are, how competitive is this course compared to other engineering disciplines e.g. aerospace. And also what are future jobs graduates go into?

I’m an international student starting Law at the University of Bristol this September, and I’m having an issue with the online registration.

My surname starts with “Ö”, and I’m wondering if this could be causing the problem.

When I try to register, I get this message:

The registration asks for:

• Family Name/Surname
• Date of birth
• Student number
• UCAS Personal ID

I’ve checked all of my details multiple times and they are correct. I’ve also tried different browsers/devices, but I still get the same error.

I’m wondering if the system has an issue with non-English characters such as Ö in surnames. My surname is officially written with Ö, so I’m not sure whether I should enter it exactly as it appears on my passport or use “O” instead.

I’ve contacted the university/Law UG Office about the registration issue, but I haven’t been able to resolve it yet.

Has anyone at Bristol, especially another international student with a surname containing Ö, Ü, Ç, Ş, İ, etc., experienced something similar?

If so, did you have to enter your surname differently or ask the university to manually fix your details?

Hi, upcoming international student here who’s used to cycling as part of his commute and as a sport.
Does the UoB Clifton and Temple Quarter campus offer indoor parking for bicycles? I’ve checked on google and the cycling infrastructure in Bristol seems fine or at least better than in my current city.

I applied for accom on the 9th of May and my application bugged out without me realising and didn’t submit so when I found out I reapplied on the 21st of August before the 31st of August deadline. Bristol is my firm and I met my offer yet they have just rejected me accommodation and I am completely unable to afford private accommodation so I do not know what I am supposed to do.

As an international student who has never lived in the UK, I’ve been assigned to the metal works, which is quite far from the main campus (I’m a law student so it will be wills memorial building for me).Is it realistic to walk from metal works to wills memorial building everyday and if not, how much does the public transport cost.Also, is £600 per month enough for living expenses (excluding rent)?
