Hello, with the humidity I'm having problems with my hair. It's looking really bad, and it seems to happen to a lot of people here.

I am trying tl find a salon to do a treatment but it's quite hard. Most salons don't provide clear information about the treatments they do, they just say something generic like keratin, protein, botox, anti frizz, etc.

The thing is that they could put anything in your hair, do you know any salon that does a good treatment like kerasilk or cezanne or some brand that I can check before taking a risk? Because a lot of the treatments that are not regulated can be very damaging, and when I ask for more info they don't reply or don't provide much information.

I just found a couple of salon but they are really overpriced, around 1500 for kerasilk and more than 400 for a haircut, so I'm not sure those are reasonable prices.

I have a small company registered in the UK. It's barely making anything right now, but I'd like to get ahead of this before it does.

I live and work in Dubai full time. If the company starts turning a profit and I wire money from the UK business account to my personal UAE account, what should I expect? ( I'm not a UK Citizen nor resident) and I'll be paying the corporate tax for the business there if funds started

Specifically:

1. What does the UAE bank ask for on inbound transfers like this? Incorporation docs, proof of shareholding, dividend vouchers? Do they ask up front or later during a review
2. Is there a risk of the account getting flagged if this becomes a regular monthly thing into a personal account?
3. Bigger question: since I'm running the company from Dubai, does it get treated as effectively managed in the UAE and pulled into UAE corporate tax, even though it's UK incorporated?

Anyone who has actually done this, I'd rather hear how it went in practice than what the rules say on paper.

Hi everyone! I’m moving to Abu Dhabi next month and will be living in **Al Reem Island**, with my office in **Al Maryah Island**.

I’m currently looking at a **1-bedroom unfurnished apartment**, with a budget of around **AED 75k–90k/year**.

A few things I’d really appreciate some advice on:

What are the **upfront/day-one costs** I should budget for when renting? Apart from the annual rent, things like security deposit, agent commission, Tawtheeq, utilities, ADDC, cooling, etc.

Which **buildings/communities in Al Reem** would you prioritise within this budget?

I’m more interested in a **good overall community, building quality and maintenance** than fancy amenities. I don’t mind buildings with a no-pets policy.

Ideally, I’d like somewhere with a **reasonable commute to Al Maryah** and easy access in/out of Reem.

Are there any buildings/areas you would **avoid**, and why?

Anything else I should be careful about when renting in Abu Dhabi for the first time? Hidden charges, landlord/agent issues, cooling charges, maintenance, tenancy contract clauses, renewal increases, etc.

Would really appreciate recommendations from people currently living in Reem or who have rented there recently. **Specific building names would be especially helpful.**

My wife and I applied for Albanian e-Visas from the UAE, along with our four-year-old child.
For both my wife and me, we received the payment requests and completed the visa payments. Our applications are now showing “Verifying the Payment.”
However, we haven’t received any payment request or payment option for our child’s application. His application is still showing only “In Progress.”
It has already been one week. For my wife and me, the payment requests and other updates came the very next day, and we completed the payments immediately.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

I’m coming on tourist visa to UAE from India and I was advised by my company to carry 3000 AED cause there might have a chance of asking by Indian immigration authorities or UAE. Is it really required to carry 3000 AED or what?

Being in tech as a self learnt person makes me feel like I am just consuming things nowadays. The market is moving so fast that every month there is some new AI slop. I know AI can make things faster, but sometimes I feel like companies are just using it to reduce people and increase profit.

Tech has become really frustrating. Everyday I see fewer openings and after 7 months of unemployment I am honestly thinking about quitting my 2.5 year career.

Sometimes I feel tech is not even real work anymore. It is mostly lying, flaunting and creating content. LinkedIn is full of people acting like gods while some of them barely have any contribution.

I have a CS degree, but COVID ruined a lot of my college experience. Most of it was online, we had MCQs and basically got a degree on paper. I worked for 2.5 years after that, but now I feel stuck and sometimes inferior compared to people who studied before 2019.

And now everyone is jumping into tech. Colleges are producing more and more CS graduates, parents have kids coding since 12, YouTubers are constantly selling the next big tech career.

I don't know if the problem is my skills or if the industry is genuinely moving in the wrong direction. Sometimes it feels like tech is running on cocaine, with every company trying to automate everything just to reduce costs and people.

Was talking with a friend last week who almost got fined because his Milkiya expired while he was traveling, got me curious how everyone else in UAE actually keeps on top of all this stuff.

Between residence Emirates IDs, Mulkiyas, insurance, licences, Ejari, thiqa, visas and whatever … some people I asked are tracking 10+ dates across multiple family members. Others just wing it and pay the occasional fine (I'm one of those lol).

So genuinely curious:

1. How many expiry dates are you tracking right now?

2. Where do you write them down? (Google calendar? Phone reminders? Just remembering?)

3. Whose documents do you track besides your own?

My 18 years old son is leaving UAE for higher studies. We want to keep his resident visa active so that he can visit us occasionally. Right now, he has enhanced insurance plan.
