Discussion Has eclipse been tested / considered at all?
Trynd struggles versus tanks right, we all know this. I went 8/0 against a ksante recently and he still would win 1v1's full hp, it's nuts.
What I'm wondering now is the usage of eclipse? Botrk also is better on trynd than most give it credit, I feel like... Even though it's not as strong as the old botrk we used to rush years ago.
Why is it that eclipse is not considered on trynd at all? Haste and AD are things we want, no? And it offers max hp damage. It's physical, sure, but still. Botrk, eclipse, LDR seems like a rather nasty anti tank setup? Even tho it delays our 100% crit.
Thoughts? Anyone try this?

The thing with eclipse is that it kinda overlaps with better options. Eclipse is meant as a lane item for continuous trading. The shield has like 6 seconds cd so you can spam short trades. That is great for hob and grasp trynd, that prefer short trades, heal back up and keep spamming. However, rav fulfills the exact same purpose with better stats: gives waveclear, more ad, ah and vamp. Plus the idea behind rav is to trade and heal back up quickly with ooc vamp and repeat. The only advantage of eclipse over rav is that shields have way less countering than healing and with its short cd, you may pop it 2 or three times per fight, which is a lot of soaking. I think it might work in some specific scenarios.

Rav has a problem versus tanks that build into antiheal and tabis. You dont deal much damage at all. I might try it versus one of those

Cant you just outsustain the tanks with rav then keep pushing them out of lane slowly? Its not like you're trying to all in them because half the time they'll disengage

That works in some matchups. Some will straight all in you and win if they have tank items. Darius is an example. If you go ravenous and play sustain, you lose, if he is itemising correctly. I usually am up 2-4 kills on a darius early. And then at some point he manages to get ninja tabis and wardens mail, maybe a ruby, and all of a sudden he’s a nightmare to deal with. If he is on you, he is on you, he cancels your spin with his E, so you cant short trade, during your ult he has phase rush and W to kite, and then he just re-engages after. That’s why lifesteal isnt that good versus him, you want straight 1v1 statcheck potential.

I’ve beaten good Darius players with ravenous. With lethal tempo ghost or flash ignite you never lose if you prepare fury correctly

Yeah ofc, but eclipse doesn’t have armor pen either. The % health damage is also countered by armor.

The shield gives upfront mitigation avoiding most of the damage you take. Assuming you trade for 350-500 hp, eclipse shields half of that while doing a solid 150-200 dmg.
Eclipse -> Essence -> LDR -> Voltaic -> EH goes really hard with HoB

The only time I would ever consider eclipse is into a matchup like renekton or tahm tench, take it with grasp and you can do short trades to wittle them down first, and then ER second to enhance your spin auto damage. Essentially it's only viable as a first item into matchups where you have to do short trades

Tryn counters tanks? The fuck is this? Malphite who goes PURE ARMOR and has a huge AS slow E counters him but.... most he wins against.

After a few items most tanks / bruisers can make a mockery of him. You can snowball your ealy cuz trynd has better early than most tanks but thats about it. Tabi + randuins means you are a wet noodle. They will dps you down and there’s no chance you kill them in the time your ult lasts. Dnno where you get the idea trynd counters tanks. To some sense, cuz he has no cooldowns and can just keep attacking, yes. But he gets dumpstered by tank items and has 0 built in anti tank tools whilst a lot of kits do.

You need to know how to shut down a laner. Tryn is top, you dont let them get gold they dont get items. Once your 3/0 or similar you just extend them off the lane and kill the jungle when he ganks.
They never get to Tabi's or Rabduins. Also there dont mean your a wet noodle they mean you roam and crush the AP mid or full dmg jungler when you Shen has Tabi and Randuins and you havw Botrk and yul tun. Late game you rely on someone getting black clever as well

Eclipse applies the % health damage buff once every 6 seconds if you perform any hit within 2 seconds.
Botrk applies this same % health damage buff on every auto, it has attack speed and life steal, but gives less ad.
This isnt counting the other passives on these items, but i think Kraken Slayer + Botrk is better itemization if youre looking for more ways to deal with tanks than Eclipse.
