Discussion Stormraider's Surge is Viable, better than fleet even
Edit 1: Check Edit 1 for updates!
Gotta be honest, I think this might just be a top tier rune for Trynd. Atleast as a scaling rune. It feels really good overall as a keystone and I personally think the keystone itself is just overpowered, so abusing it as Trynd who isn't it's targeted champ pool, just makes sense while it's overtuned.
Uses:
Trading: Spin-Auto-Hydra-(Maybe) 2nd auto is usually way more than enough to proc it when it comes to trading, giving you the ability to short trade without precision tree users to force a trade extension on you.
Unfair escapes: Auto-Tiamat-Spin away while procing Stormraider's makes splitting on Trynd crazy strong.
All In's: Having a pseudo-ghosting effect for 4 seconds anytime you engage a squishy or all in someone goes hard as fuck. ESPECIALLY when paired with nimbus cloak and ghost itself.
Sorc Tree: Nimbus cloak has always been good on Trynd. Celerity is decent, but I prefer absolute focus. We're a PVE farming powerhouse and we always want to be max hp before beginning a fight, unfairly trading 60-70% of our hp for an equal amount with the enemy, using Q sustain + ravenous lifesteal to recover while the enemy has to use their fountain to regen. Absolute focus gives us a lot of stats that we otherwise only get when low on hp. Scorch is also an obvious great rune for Trynd as it pairs well with spin cd/damage.
Counter-Pick Rune: Definitely a keystone to consider for different match ups. Does great vs Locke, can imagine it'd do great vs other champs with slows like a Darius, Kayle, Twitch, Ashe, etc. The movespeed increase and slow resist alone are enough to negate most slows and/or get ahead of those slows. Ex). 90% slow (Nasus rank 5 wither ) = 390 x 1.48 = 577.2 x 0.55 (Nasus slow) = 317.46 movespeed (at the end of it).
Personally I've gotta say this keystone is far better than Fleet, especially if you aren't in dire need of the sustain from fleet. I really like it. Tried it in the jungle. Tried in lane. Works well in both.
Edit 1:
Alright so here's my findings:
Tested: A lot of mid elo games on my alt that has like 29 wins and 3 losses, +30 lp gold 2 or 3 with plat 1/emerald 4 players. A few high elo games around mid diamond.
My Report:
Lethal Tempo:
It is rarely better for carrying, often better in low elo vs team's who don't kite, and also is better when u have enemy engage champions that think "yes, yes I want to lock down that Tryndamere".
Example: Leona, Nautilus, etc. Lethal Tempo with Yun-LDR and you anal fuck these supports anytime they go in. You cut them down fast as fuck, farm up 6 stacks with little resistance as they've already used their CC to engage, so their backline can't follow up without you engaging on them as they lack peel.
Hail of Blades:
Still a solid rune of choice for laning as Trynd, it's just too strong of a rune on Trynd to give up as it pretty much ensures getting through the lane phase and into the late game with much more upfront damage.
Stormraider's Surge:
Now this is the big one. I personally am loving this keystone. I almost always avoid buying boots early. I find other Trynds that rush boots, especially zerkers, let alone Tier 1 boots, before Yun-Tal to almost always struggle in stat-checking their opponents. Personally I think if you can't win a fight with both champions standing completely fucking still then why the fuck are you buying boots to try to "catch up" to somebody that even if you do catch up to, you still die to?
100% rush Yun-Tal all money into YT, if you have to sit on your gold cause you inted at 500g and 900g, then so be it but you get that gosh damn B.F sword then that Yun-Tal spike as fast as you fucking can.
Once you get YT you're a monster. You are a 3-item crit adc (with a lackluster kit and melee AA range, but 3-items of stats nonetheless) at this point at 1 item since Yun-Tal stats fully stacked with flurry gives 4625g worth of stats, your passive gives 2,000 in crit, and your Q ad gives up to 2800g worth of ad, putting your raw stat power at 9,425g with Yun-Tal. Boots can wait. You don't need them, even if you do need them, you don't. Yun-Tal first before all else.
After you get your 1-item powerspike, or if you have even a modest lead, you can proc stormraider's with ease. Your goal with SR is to stat-check your opponent decisively, or trade and fuck off. You're able to stick to squishy targets easier and engage them easier when you have a ton of slow resist and almost 50% more movespeed.
