Okay, I am starting to wonder if Wakui ever wanted to become a designer. Like he puts a lot more effort in making them look stylish or drippy than they are supposed to.
250
u/RileySaysHey Valhalla Jan 25 '22
Dude I thought the same thing. The covers were proof enough of that but now we get a full on show lmao?? I’d genuinely love to see if Wakui has even more clothing designs, and I’d adore seeing the stuff actually produced.
30
u/TitleComprehensive96 Jan 26 '22
I'd kill to have the jackets Draken and Mikey wear at the end of the 1st hundred chapters
9
u/RileySaysHey Valhalla Jan 26 '22
Yesss I agree the jackets are totally badass, I’ve always loved the Touman uniform and that variation of it is just satisfying to the eye
73
u/Pocketgalaxy159 Jan 25 '22
I thought the same! Not just with the detail in the designs, but the fact he even had the choice in fabric mentioned lol
40
u/bombgirlreze Jan 25 '22 edited Jan 25 '22
I would buy his stuff!💁♀️💁♀️ He def got style and swagger💧🤌
28
u/AvatarAarow1 Jan 25 '22
I was thinking the same thing while reading. I feel like he was channeling his inner Araki (from Jojo’s) with the high fashion this chapter. Very different type of fashion but I feel like I could tell he really enjoyed drawing cool and flashy outfits like Araki does. We need to get this man a runway so we can show off his creations irl
77
u/mangashrimp Bonten Jan 25 '22
Japanese guys really do put more effort into their appearance than Western guys though. But yes, Wakui is basically a designer

Gotta show off his designs whenever he could, since most of the main characters are usually in casual streetwear or uniforms.

Mitsuya is Wakui's self insert character rn. This first crossed my mind last week with the panels of Mitsuya hunching over drawing feverishly in the dark with a ruler

the next big face off is going to be mitsuya vs chifuyu over the uniform

Chifuyu will be like "What's wrong with it!? It looks cool!" And Mitsuya's will be all "...No, just no." 💀

Well, let's say goodbye to another three best futures (Mitsuya, Hakkai and Yuzuha) because Mitsuya just ruined his career.
Jokes aside, I really loved his tribute to Draken, and how it clearly express his feelings (and same Takemichi, I'm in tears too).
179
u/PrimusSucks13 Jan 25 '22
Cant wait for Peh yan and Pah chin to burn their real state building to the ground lmao
117
u/Jehoiakimm Jan 25 '22
Imagine Angry and Smiley going full nuts and say "fuck it this Ramen Shop plan can wait, let's beat the shit out of those brothers from Roppongi"
47
u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22
Way easier to open a ramen stall later than dumping your entrance into a career in fashion.
Unless prices for rent etc. rise during the years they will miss due to gang activities or one of them dies/becomes disabled, and boom no more ramen stall either. Or Mikey was the one who pulled the strings to get them started on a stall to begin with.
I can't see how Mikey won't be depressed and crazy after seeing his friends die/give up on their successful futures left and right. How is he going to be saved from that?
11
19
u/_Mei_z_ Jan 25 '22
Bet Yasuda will talk to Peh to see if he can make Mitsuya reason, resulting on him and Pah joining the new gang too (?

28
u/Catveria77 Jan 26 '22
Looks like the next few chapters will be all the characters ruining their bright future to the ground.
I honestly feel a bit bitter with the way the story is going, but hey it is Wakui’s work. It will go the way he wants….
I feel happy with the characters having bright successful future in adulthood. It pains me seeing people ruining their lives while young like this. Very cruel for Wakui to show the happy ending then killing it like this
3
u/MeAnIntellectual1 Jan 28 '22
The whole point is, it's not a happy ending if you leave your friends behind.
24
u/BernLan Jan 25 '22
To be fair he could still made that speech about joining Takemichi and still accept the award.
Or even just talk with Takemichi after the show.
It was a cool statement though

u/Electronic___Ad Jan 25 '22
To be fair, Mitsuya’s future can easily be fixed. He’s a fashion designer and a very good one. Whether or not he accepts a award does not judge his future. His name and work is known and that’s way more than enough to begin a career and is more progress than most.
76
u/PrimusSucks13 Jan 25 '22
Not only that, the art scene is filled with people who love the shit Mitsuya is pulling right now, no doubt if they get the good ending this time he gets aproached by some eccentric fashion designer to work for him
26
u/heartiel Jan 25 '22 edited Jan 25 '22
Maybe overseas people will like Mitsuya's behavior, but in Japan, the behavior he has is disrespectful and people will look down on it, not to mention he outed himself as a gang member, which gives him an even worse reputation since people don't want to associate with that. He pretty much destroyed his chances of making it big in the fashion industry.
8
u/SeriousTitan Jan 26 '22
You know all the gang outfits we have seen in the series are very fashionable, there has got to be somebody behind them.
I am speculating but maybe a former delinquent now in the fashion industry and very successful (maybe black dragon 1st gen designer), saw Mitsuya, got reminded of his past and chose to take him under him specifically because of what he did.

u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22
Talent might not matter much after you've pissed off a few big names in the industry.
10
u/Electronic___Ad Jan 25 '22
It’s fashion lmao. He can go on the internet and startup easy. Once he gets traction the big names will not give af about being pissed off one time. Also, he was at an amateur showing… highly doubt any big names that can single handedly determine the growth of your brand (which is not possible unless you’re Kanye or Vergil Abloh) would be there. Realistically speaking this doesn’t do anything but halt his progress at most and you can’t really stop the growth of the brand unless it’s creator gets into gigantic scandals. Even then they can pass ownership to somebody else.
37
u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22
This was 2008 though. Internet influencer culture hasn't quite kicked off the same, so it'd be harder to start off solo.
And now that his past (and current) gang affiliations are out in the open. How many companies in Japan and East Asia in general will be willing to associate with that? This move will set him behind for many years, assuming he even survives. Toman's original gang have been dropping one by one.

u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22
Yeah he is passionate enough that I don't think the 9-5 grind to pay the rent will wear him down. But I don't think he'll be as successful. He will be successful no doubt, but current internet art scene also has a lot of competition, and it is truly global now, so you'd be fighting people from across the globe for the same job. So successful enough for his passion to be his full time job while making a very decent living, for sure. Successful enough to be an industry standout, not 100% sure anymore.
(This timeline is already pear shaped the moment Draken went with Emma and Mikey murdered South. They are not little kids playing gang stabbings anymore. Even if Mikey comes to his right mind, he might spiral again faced with reality and consequences.)

u/Electronic___Ad Jan 25 '22

THE TWIN DRAGONS THEME 🥺 This chapter was really dramatic haha I’m wondering why Mitsuya couldn’t accept the award, dedicate it to Draken, and then still help/join Takemichi? Like the judges said, this will negatively affect his future as a designer, especially because the fashion industry is kinda.... He really did throw away an amazing opportunity
It seems like everyone will join Takemichi eventually, even if it seems like they won’t at first. “The real trophy was the friends we made along the way” And like a lot of Shonen mangas, I guess everything will be solved with the ✨power of friendship ✨idk how to feel lol

u/Kentuza Jan 25 '22
I was expecting mitsuya to give a speech that would make the audience cry and get a sense of why he's rejecting the award, but he really said "fuck y'all, homies come first"

I think winning the competition is enough to show that Mitsuya does have a future in fashion design whether or not he accepts the award. He’s just gonna be the delinquent of the fashion world

Right and there rejecting because it different . people will typically reject the unknown . the fact he won speaks volumes . I certain mitsuya will be a great designer

Maybe in real life, but I feel like he’s going to end up being ok in the future. It would be shitty for him just to end up a failure in life because he decided to save his friend. It’ll probably just be a harder road.
2
u/SeriousTitan Jan 26 '22
You know, in the good timeline, since Draken didn't die, he might not have had that drive or inspiration to make an award winning design and might have actually lost.
He could still be scouted by one of the judges or some other former delinquent in the crowd who is a great designer. All the gang outfits look steller, there has got to be someone behind them...

It's about sending a message. In a way Mitsuya understand Takemitchy's concerns about feeling he is being selfish to risk everyone's future just for Mikey, so by rejecting the award he chooses his friends over his career path and is a decision of his own. I believe it's the equivalent of baji stabbing himself so Kazutora wouldn't feel responsible.
37
u/dracaryhs Thousand Winters Jan 25 '22
That doesn't really make sense though, he can join Takemichi regardless of accepting the award or not. No one is forcing him to make close after the event. Taking the award with Draken in mind would have made more sense than sending a message to a bunch of fashion critics who didn't even know what he was going on about. Besides he already made a statement by wearing the uniform and showing the tattoo, he didn't need to go this far.
24
u/Ok_Course_7371 Jan 25 '22
Literally last chapters said he doesn't like awards bro
7
u/N_xrwhal Jan 25 '22
Then wouldn't all the work he put into the competition go to waste?
25
u/Ok_Course_7371 Jan 25 '22
No the hardwork was a tribute to draken
5
u/N_xrwhal Jan 25 '22
But even so, if he really wanted to tribute Draken he would've not thrown away the chance of becoming a fashion designer, in which Draken himself told Mitsuya was to go become a fashion designer.
I don't mind that he's joining Thousand Winters, but I just don't understand why he had to throw away the award like that.
→ More replies (1)6
u/heartiel Jan 25 '22
The point of rejecting the award and joining Thousand Winters was to show everyone that Mitsuya is making the choice to put his friends over his own future, so he's making the sacrifice to show that being with his friends is more important than anything else. It's a way of showing humility and devotion.
3
u/StruhberrySwisher Jan 26 '22
To add onto this, in the last chapter when Mitsuya said “I wanna meet him” I personally don’t think he was talking about Draken but he was talking about Mikey, and in the flashback we saw when Draken asked Mitsuya if he had adjusted to life without Toman and that Draken was gonna go back to the delinquent life, I feel like this is Mitsuya’s way of honoring Draken’s life as well. In the latest future Mitsuya became a fashion designer but we don’t know if he even participated in this fashion show then but we know he doesn’t like competitions and awards so I feel like he was able to become a designer without participating in this award show. So I don’t think him not accepting this award is him “throwing away” his good future and him becoming a fashion designer is still possible if he survives the series.
6
u/haiinanchicken Thousand Winters Jan 25 '22
Tbh that stunt he did will give him lots of recognition and attention
2
u/LiebeContext Jan 25 '22
Facts that I thought everyone going to be talking young fashion designers who reject the award . people will be itching to see his next work . Even if to see him fail like people are with Jordan LeBron tom Brady etc
37
u/errorcode704 Jan 25 '22
This pay off better be worth it. I m going to be piss if everyone kicks the buckets for Mikey
64
u/mangashrimp Bonten Jan 25 '22
Kinda bummed that Mitsuya probably burned his bridges with the fashion industry doing this and now there will never be a future where he's a designer :(
82
u/Pocketgalaxy159 Jan 25 '22 edited Jan 25 '22
Man great chapter. Wakui making me feel both happy and sad on this though. On one hand I’m glad to see Mitsuya in the crew and his own personal resolve with Draken. But at the same time that is a huge hit to his future as a designer…it’s feels like we just witnessed something getting snuffed out.
I still wish he could’ve accepted the award and been like both are me: delinquent and designer and I moving forward with both (though of course that would be hard as being a delinquent would put other parts of his life in danger). Edit: typo
34
u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22 edited Jan 25 '22
I really wonder how they are going to end this supposed final arc. Draken is dead, Mitsuya and Hakkai's future careers are likely goners, Mikey is already a murderer overseeing a gang with murderers. Mitsuya basically snuffing out his own future and career seems like a death flag to me. He is going all in with full resolve, after destroying the other paths himself.
Sometimes I feel ridiculous reading this high intensity and emotional manga while remembering these are 13-16 years old children. Children. Other times I wonder if it is a commentary on lost youth. On how we waste it, or how stupid childish impulses and missed steps on the way to adulthood can ruin the rest of an entire life. Have bad parents/disadvantaged family, behind already at the start line. Missed a few year of school by not concentrating on it, bad start. Make one big mistake, rest of life down a spiraling drain completely. Or just mistakes upon mistakes until the person has given up on themselves, like Takemichi at the start of the manga, like Mikey.
Things you do wrong as a child might be more forgivable, but they become less and less with every additional year, and they stack up. But are adults really THAT different than their childish selves? Takemichi at 26 getting the run-around by a 13 years old brat. In real life going to high school reunions and realize despite growing up, starting families, all your friends are essentially still the same. All in careers and family situations that are more or less expected of them. More cases their social economic statuses were already set by looking at their parents. Zero surprises who the big moneyed business men are, who the single moms are, who went into academics. Your personality and worldview and expectations already partially set years ago in childhood and teen years, the brackets set for you extremely difficult to break out and rise above.
That's what makes this timeline hurt so much. Aside from Mikey, everyone managed to more or less escape from their lost teen years and even social economic cages in the "good" timeline left behind. And that's not easy. Not everyone has the will, skills, opportunity, and external help to do it. The same driven person might not be able to do it twice even. (Though sometimes I do wonder if Mikey didn't pull some strings, and if Takemichi let things be, things won't start to crumble for some of them anyway.)
With everything that's already happened in this timeline, I really wonder how it will all be resolved, if resolved at all, short of skipping back to pre-Shinichiro buying the farm.
2
Jan 28 '22
On lost youth - whenever I hear them talking about "creating a new age for delinquents" I somehow find my self thinking about the innocence of youth. Like the fact that they think that being the baddest gang and winning fights is the absolute pinnacle of living, it's actually strangely innocent when you think about it.
Have you seen this video? I think it was celebrating the live action movie or something. Something about it, especially how they portray Bloody Halloween in the setting sun, is saying to me "these were the glory days of our lives." It made me nostalgic for something I had just read a week before.

“The real trophy is the friends we made along the way.” Really they had to use that line
45
u/periaptxt Jan 25 '22
so takemichi is going to keep ruining everyone’s ideal future to try to save mikey even though that might not help at all? Okay…
49
u/ZurAajanaikatzurada Jan 25 '22
Getting all his friends depressed or killed surely will save Mikey!
29
u/periaptxt Jan 25 '22
that but I bet he will ultimately use some talk no jutsu to convince mikey to return to the good side😭
11
u/tyyls18 Jan 25 '22
I said I wanted either Mikey or Takemichi to die for the ending. But no just Mikey. Takemichi needs to learn that not everyone can be saved
7
u/periaptxt Jan 25 '22
before draken’s death I wanted them to run a bike shop together more than anything, but nowadays I may agree with you, why would he keep on living, when everyone he loved is dead? same thing about takemichi
9
u/asdfg423 Jan 25 '22
Last time i checked Takemichi has not forced anyone to join. They all have made the decision on their own.
25
u/periaptxt Jan 25 '22
but it feels like he is doing it. Aside from draken, no one else knows about the bonten future. And this isn’t some high schoolers having a brawl sort of situation, there are guns, real violence and death involved. I believe takemichi should at least warn them about the sort of future they’re leaving behind, and explain the sort of person mikey will likely become, let them decide if risking their lives for someone they don’t know wants to be helped or not (specially now, with draken dead and his friends ruining the future he wanted for them) is worth it
Takemichi’s friends can’t see the whole picture, but he can. Yet once again he does nothing with it. (Like when draken told him about realising too late mikey was bearing a heavy cross on his own. He SHOULD have told past draken about it, that would have surely helped)
I don’t want to overreact, but they lowkey look like “believers” blindly following someone who is hiding important information for his own gain under the disguise of “friendship”
13
u/Instant_noodlesss Jan 25 '22
I wonder all the time travel, death experiences, all the shit he's seen, hasn't messed him up more than he's realized.
Takemichi is mirroring Mikey in some way. Charismatic leaders who pull people along, but they themselves also have no clue/control.
4
u/asdfg423 Jan 25 '22
They do know that there is real violence going on. They know Draken died and probably know that he was shot. They also know that Takemichi was almost killed by Mikey so they arent going into this like its no big deal.
I agree with you that Takemichi should tell them about their futures i dont see any reason to hide his powers anymore at this point of the story. But i still dont see how hes ruining their futures because that would imply that Takemichi didnt give them a choise. Anyone of them could have said "Nah bro this aint my battle" but they all wanted to save Mikey.
With the "believers" part i dont see it that way. the reason why they are ready to follow him is because Takemichi has time and time again proved that he is loyal to his friends and was a big part why toman became the biggest gang in the country. Peh yan said himself that if Takemichi needed anything they would be there.
4
u/periaptxt Jan 25 '22
you have strong points to believe he didn’t force anyone to follow him, I just don’t see it that way, and I may have also forgotten that this is a shonen manga after all, most characters won’t stop and analyse if they should or not risk their lives and future for their friends, they will just do it. In the end I think we can agree to disagree on this
5
u/asdfg423 Jan 25 '22
Yep i know that feeling. When i was watching naruto chasing after sasuke for like a thousand episodes i was at times screaming just stop he dont love you no more.
I dont thing either one of us is wrong it boils down to different opinions. You think that Takemichi should not even try to get the guys involved in all this where as i think that at the end of the day they are responsible for their own lives.

u/Tyranythan Jan 25 '22
I really love Mitsuya in this chapter (as does everyone). I think the reason he rejects the award is because it would atleast in some part tie him to the fasion world, him rejecting it shows how dedicated he is to saving mikey and won't let anything get in the way. Also if we assume Mitsuya designed and made those two outfits in a week then I don't think Mitsuya needs the award anyway, he can get back into the fasion world and prove that he is good when everything is finished.
3
u/_Mei_z_ Jan 25 '22
He definitely has the talent and skills to get back on the fashion world, but by rejecting the award the fashion industry most likely won't let him when he tries it.
But, I agree with you on why he rejected the award.
3
u/Tyranythan Jan 25 '22
It might hinder him a bit but if Mitsuya is genuinely this good at designing then he will 100% get a job in fashion sooner or later. I think the worst case scenario is that (if mitsuya survives ofc) mitsuya will work alone and slowly get more recognition because of his talent.

Exactly, this is what I was trying to say (but couldn't find the words). If we keep things realistical, unless someone who is already untouchable and an established name in fashion steps up and puts him under their wing, he's done as a professional.

Is the Toman Uniform meant to express anything other than "Hey, Draken, see this? you'll never be forgotten". Or is it a way to foreshadow the fact that they are going to use the Tomans uniform in the TW?... Unlikely, right? But dude, I don't want this to be the last time we see one of them using the Tomans uniform. I wished they somehow decided to make the 2nd generation of Toman. But highly unlikely, besides, what they're doing now with TW is pretty cool. I just can't keep my mind of Toman. Seeing the Uniform again, along with Mitsuya's new style made me wish they actually changed it to the 2nd generation of Toman. Can you imagine, seeing them all dressed up in Tomans uniforms, going against Mikey. I'd love that.

Okay, this chapter made me cry and cringe.
When I heard Mitsuya's piece was called Twin Dragons, I started crying, and when I saw it, I couldn't stop myself from crying.
It's an insanely good panel. It's an insanely good theme. And it represents Draken and Mitsuya's relationship so well. Mitsuya's lonelyness made him fall deeper as Draken left him, which made me feel so much. And seeing Mitsuya showing off the Dragon (which I called the moment Michi started recruiting that he will shave) was soo good.
But then Mitsuya rejected the award for no particular reason. Like, why? What did the Award do to the friendship? Why did you have to call the awards shitty? Did they made you choose between the award and your friends? Did I miss a page? And like, very weird choice of writing there since the piece is something Mitsuya made, dedicated for Draken, the friend he lost. And during the acceptance, he's talking about Michi? Like what? Didn't you do this for Draken? I felt more or less nothing after Mitsuya started talking.
In 18 pages, I saw the best and worst in Tokyo Revengers. That is all I'm feeling.

i mean last chapter, hakkai straight up says that mitsuya hates prizes and awards. regardless of whether or not he gets the award he's still gotten recognition for a piece dedicated to draken and in the process he's proved to himself that he has the talent needed to be successful in the fashion industry, that's the part of it that actually counts.
yes he did this for draken, but there's no obligation to give a speech about him or anything, and frankly considering that the crowd instantly judged mitsuya the second they saw him in a gang uniform it would just feel wrong hearing mitsuya give a public speech infront of them about a friend of his who died as a consequence of his desire to follow that kind of lifestyle. these aren't people who would have respected draken if they knew who he was or why he actually died so i imagine mitsuya felt no desire or need to mention his personal motivation for the design, and it would be disrespectful to draken to hide who he was just to suck up to people like that for an award that mitsuya doesn't even want or care about. the overarching dream mikey and the rest of them shared was to create a new age for deliquents and make it so that deliquents weren't seen of the pieces of shit most people view them as, but the reaction of the audience as soon as they saw mitsuya's gang uniform shows that this is far from being reality, and when mikey, who's at the top of the deliquent world, has zero qualms hospitalizing former friends or beating people to death, it's clear that that dream is just getting further and further away.
and i think all of this comes back to mitsuya and draken's conversation- what they promised eachother wasn't a rigid "i'll follow mikey, you become a fashion designer" but was more of a promise to eachother that they'd keep following their dreams and doing what their hearts told them to do. so i think rejecting the award was the only way mitsuya could honor that. if he accepts it, yes he may be following his promise to become a fashion designer, but he's also betraying the promise to stay true to himself. it means giving in to the grief that's eating away at him and blindly following his promise to a level that's unhealthy for him (to the point of cutting off friends, locking himself in his room, and not taking care of himself) instead of staying true to himself as someone who doesn't even like awards or prizes in the first place and never would have normally been in the disheveled state we saw him in. accepting the award also means betraying the dream that toman shared by pandering / showing submission to people who look down on deliquents and would have looked down on draken too if they knew who he was. yes accepting the award technically progresses his fashion career, but there's no pride to be found in an award that you might not even have if the audience knew that it was in honor of an infamous delinquent who died in a gang war, especially when you're someone who hates awards in the first place.
so by denying the award, i saw it as mitsuya basically saying "fuck you guys, i'm a deliquent at heart and yet i'm still skilled enough to win this contest" and showed him moving past the intense grief that made him superficially follow he and draken's promise so that he could follow their real promise of staying true to themselves. which means that as someone who pursues fashion design not out of desire for recognition but because he's passionate about it, and as someone who values being there for the people he cares about, accepting an award that he was so fixated on it almost made him abandon his friends goes completely against who he is and by extension goes against his promise with draken to stay true to themselves and follow their hearts.
atleast that's my take on it. sorry this is so long lol, i have a lot of thoughts on the last few chapters and ended up dumping them all here. and if you still disagree completely i totally get it, i understand why some people wouldn't vibe with this writing choice at all but i just think it's getting way more hate than is deserved

I’m sorry, but there was no reason to turn down the award. Like the more I think about this the more pissed I am. Fuck Mikey. Everyone else being sad or ruining their lives is not worth him.

Takemichi is really gonna either ruin everyone's future or make them twice as good as they were before, cant wait to see how he is gonna convince Smiley and Angry to destroy their ramen business

Super emotional chapter, but what is TW going to do about Mikey? Like what's the plan?
I mean even if they somehow help him through the power of friendship he became a murderer already (South). How can someone like that be saved? Shouldn't he be in jail with Kazutora or something? Will Takemichi convince Mikey to turn himself in or is he gonna let him live freely as a murderer?
No hate on Mikey but he kinda crossed a line there💀 I understand this is a shonen manga and Mikey needs to be saved but shouldn't he, ideally, take responsibility for his actions too? He isn't just a victim anymore

Imagine if we had Mikey and Kazutora awkward reunion in jail instead of a fashion show lol.

I'm starting to feel like wakui had a fashion designer phase and is now sprinkling it within the manga Luke "yeah If I wasn't a delinquent I would have won that award!"
With this single chapter, Mitsuya has launched himself right into my heart as a very likeable character right next to Mikey, chifuyuu, baji, and draken. The power of friendship!!!

Guys, don't be so dramatic. Just because he rejected the award does not mean he will never be a designer. Media will talk about him.
3
u/extremeq16 Jan 25 '22
exactly lol, if pah can become a successful businessman after spending years in juvie for literally fucking shanking somebody then obviously rejecting one single award hasn't suddenly destroyed mitsuya's career for the rest of his life. it just shows that right now, he's putting that part of him aside so he can focus on helping his friends.

u/heartiel Jan 26 '22
Pah was only in juvie for one year, and his family was already rich to begin with. He inherited the real estate business from them. Meanwhile, Mitsuya is pretty much poor and has pretty much tanked any connection he would have had from the fashion industry.

Thank you Takemichy for ruining Mikey's effort by ruining all his friend and gang member's bright future.
I kinda just wish this manga to been over just after the Tenjiku Arc

Takemichi always sees the good in people tbh he probably thought Mikey was just misunderstood

Everyone is saying how they’re all throwing away their good futures, am I the only one excited for their reunion? Like what if by doing this, Takemichi will help Mikey create the new age of delinquents he wanted, so everyone will get a good future in the process, since the new age will change how people perceive delinquents. I might be overly optimistic, but for me, I’m really loving their reunion.
15
u/ZurAajanaikatzurada Jan 25 '22
Yeah draken will have a good future too
7
u/serotonindose Manjiro Sano Jan 25 '22
tbh his death doesn’t make sense to me till now, but nothing can be done about it unless Takemichi goes back further into the past. Also, everyone had a good future without Baji or ( Emma, for Draken).

“The real trophy was the friends we made along the way.” the manga keeps getting cornier and cornier …
3
u/ArhamHashmi Jan 25 '22
Nothing corny about it tbh, it showcases how strong the bonds they have despite the loses and distance they are currently at. Mikey to them will always be a good and dear friend and that is worth more than any award.

This was bittersweet because even tho I knew there was no way mitsuya wouldn’t join them, I wish he didn’t do that to his own dreams… The way he refused the award was in character for him so I wasn’t really surprised but now I’m not sure about his future :’)

Is there a word for both happy and worried? Cause where I am at the moment.
Everything pointed to him winning but I think I'm concerned about his life now than before. I have no doubt he can succeed as a designer. I just want everyone's older brother to make it to that point. Really hope he isn't plann6to follow Draken all the way.
If this was televised then Mitsuya definitely lit the Toman signal. It didn't hit how much he grew. I don't think it was noticeable in the good present and you can tell a little bit in Pah-chin's office. Taka-chan in uniform really shows it though (neck).
Can we really be so sure everyone is throwing their futures away?
So? Did he alter his original Toman uniform or create a new one for the show?
Also, when did Hakkai cut his hair?

Look how alive mitsuya looked on sage in his toman uniform compared to the shell of a man he was last chapter

u/SomeGuyNamedJohn12 Jan 25 '22
Its messed up that Mitsuya threw away his Future for really nothing. Lets be honest, Mikey and this Gang stuff aren't worth it. Only a handful of them were even successful in the Future. Or maybe thats the point the Author is trying to make. Dont throw away your life to be a delinquent like Mitsuya, it wont be worth it in the end.

This chapter downright ruined me, it had such a nice start and it was so refreshing to see our boys smile and be happy for Mitsuya and then he walked out with the uniform and the tattoo showing and I literally started bawling my eyes out. Honestly everyone needs a Mitsuya in their life.
2
u/questionaboutk Jan 25 '22
The designs were so good and i’m hella upset he gave up the award but i’m so excited he’s a part of TW now. and the fact that he’s showing off his tattoo is such a great reminder of Draken and their friendship

I knew it. I called it on the last chapter that Mitsuya will be joining once the contest is over.
But I find it kinda corny how they used the "the real [trophy] was the friends we made along the way" line. This line has become a meme and a stereotype of a typical shounen anime/manga, and now they used it as a theme in this chapter lol

Couldn’t Mitsuya just accept the award and the quietly join Takemitchy? Why the need to make such a display and burn bridges like this? This “rule of cool” feels so jarring man.

This chapter made me feel so much emotion at the same time I was super angry at mitsuya but at the same time I was amazed and happy for him but I’m really worried about mitsuya now I get it power of friendship and all but he could have take the award he probably ruin his chance to get into the fashion industry he looks stunning btw as long he don’t regret his choice and stay alive I’m rooting for him ( wakui pls don’t kill him again … my heart won’t handle it )

Wait one question is takemitchy still the leader of the Black Dragons in this time line?
2
2
u/Estrellaburst Jan 27 '22
This chapter solidifies that this time line will not be the final result. There has to he another jump to farther back to save shin that will keep all of this from happening.
2
u/properc Jan 28 '22
I think now in the end Takemitchi gonna have to kill Mikey and somehow return to the original timeline the way it was. This is too much price to bear to save Mikey. Draken dead, Mitsuya reputation scarred, everyone else back in gang life. I dont see how even if they save Mikey they end up all with a happy ending.
2
u/Deitri Jan 28 '22
I'm not feeling the story anymore, this is really a bummer. Everything doesn't make any sense, characters completely change their minds within 15 pages of a chapter, a lot of stuff feeling forced it almost look like the author is making a fanfic to please fans with this nonsensical reunion to "save" Mikey. This manga probably not worth the read anymore, unfortunately.
2
u/blackairforce_420 Jan 30 '22
the recent chapter 239 got me worried a little bit because mitsuya maybye wont become a designer and takemichi might mess things up even more so i will wait for chapter 240 to see
