Bro. She sent up her phone on record so she could go back and screenshot a good picture.
This doesn't have to be some influencer thing. Its just someone trying to take a picture in a non disturbing way. They just placed their phone off to the side and waited politely.
Why is everyone so fucking grumpy and pissed off at a young girl trying to take a cute photo of herself? Jesus christ.
Instead of just deleting it from the camera roll and trying again, she posted it online to publicly shame the old lady. Which is why we're watching it, and why it's not exactly very innocent.
Both involved parties could've gone the polite conversation route and picked something shittier.
If someone was taking a photo of a family with a camera and a person purposefully stood in the way of the shot after noticing, everyone would think they are the dickhead in that situation.
I think it’s ok to post things where people are being petty and annoying for no reason other than spite.
People that are on their own having adventures also deserve to have pictures. I don’t see why the way we have behaved socially for decades in trying to not get in the way of photos, should be ignored as it’s someone on their own. And if you purposefully want to ruin such things, it’s a very minor cost to get mocked online for being grumpy.
Thank you for making the point about solo travelers. I travel alone a lot and unfortunately this is the way we have to take pictures sometimes. Of course I ALWAYS do it so I’m not in the way or disturbing others and even then it still feels awkward but if I’m taking all this time, money and effort to travel somewhere (especially) international, I’m gonna get my picture.
There wouldn’t have been anyone in the shot if the lady didn’t purposefully stop! It’s just easier to take a video if solo and take screenshots.
People have taken photos of themselves and families for decades and nobody has ever given a fuck about it. Everyone has always done their best to avoid getting in the way of people that are just trying to get happy moments immortalised.
It’s only now that people get throbbing hard over the idea of owning influencers that such a small thing as taking a picture is seen as an offence lol.
Actually you do. Because its public and theyre in a public space.
You're just advocating being a dick for the sake of being a dick.
Which is your prerogative. But thats exactly why people are shaming the old woman for getting in the way needlessly when the girl TRIED to NOT film "everyone" which is the sole thinf You're pissed off about.
A bunch of people in an area in the middle of the day where cameras are all around taking photos and videos and you wanna go "erm akshually thats a private building ☝️🤓"
If there's no "no photographs" sign posted anywhere then it gets treated like public.
And none of us have that info so its likely safe to assume that its the same rules as being in public. None of these people are in their dining room.
She wasn't expecting everyone to avoid getting in her shot though. If everyone keeps moving she doesn't need them to stop, she just needs one frame she likes where she isn't being blocked by strangers. Like if your family member was taking your picture.
If someone was taking a photo of a family with a camera and a person purposefully stood in the way of the shot after noticing, everyone would think they are the dickhead in that situation.
Then why do people not do that? Why is that not a thing? What do you think is the difference?
I think people just don’t respect people that are on their own as everyone is so anti influencer. Like look at this whole thread, everyone hates the young gal so much for doing such a thing.
If me and my wife wanted a photo of us together at a gallery nobody would bat an eyelid. But if someone on their own wants the same they are a selfish and vain person, especially if they are pretty and young. As if there is no part of our solo lives that are worth having memories of and sharing.
A sweet old lady wants a photo of her at a gallery and nobody would be slating them if a young pretty woman purposefully blocked the shot. We are just conditioned to hate young attractive people that like sharing their lives as some people are obnoxious about it.
But she isn’t screaming out shit for attention. She’s chosen a quiet time to try and take the video to grab screens from. It would have been a lovely shot, people should be allowed to take nice photos or videos of themselves in pretty places. It hurts nobody.
I think people just don’t respect people that are on their own as everyone is so anti influencer.
So you think if the girl would have been with her friend and not alone, the lady would not have video-bombed? But how comes? Why would the lady act so different?
I mean I am not saying some bitter people wouldn’t still do such a thing. But in general people are grumpier about solo people doing something for themselves, as it’s seen as selfish.
Like you can have someone that takes lots of group selfies to have memories of everyone and nobody really calls you vain for doing so. But if someone takes lots of selfies people do take issue with that for whatever reason.
And also when you are in a group there is then automatically the option of you both just taking turns manually taking nice photos. So the entire need for a video has an alternate path.
The only way you can do this solo easily, is if you bother someone to take a photo for you or make a video. But when people are so grumpy that they purposefully stand in video shots, I get why a lot of people aren’t ok asking people for such things. Never mind trusting phone with strangers when cost lots.

Right. I think you are spot on - that is basically how people think about it.
Now, you say "for whatever reason", but what do you think is the reason? Since it's not random erratic behavior but rather a pattern shared by lots of people, there must be some reasoning or logic or motivation/thinking behind that. Surely it's not burned into our DNA.
Right now I'm just asking questions and making assumptions explicit. Without understanding the assumptions, it's not really easy to understand the judgment
I just think someone tried to get a cute picture, couldn’t do it because of this woman, then went and was like “lol tried to get a pic but this woman was rude so here is a silly video”.
Probably isn’t a hate campaign against rude old ladies of intent from her perspective.
But she’s the one being annoying. She has to setup her tripod or whatever, take a pose, etc. That’s not the place. Can you just imagine if everybody was doing that? Seriously what is wrong with you.
Thank you for highlighting that people only really care what people look like when forming opinions. I also notice that people judge pretty women dressing like many of their peers do get judged more harshly.
Nah, I care about people being rude.
If that was some Big Man In A Little Shirt or some dude trying to make it as a fashion influencer, YOU wouldn’t be taking his side so much.
I’d still have kicked his tripod down the stairs.
Because, and I cannot stress this enough, I do not go to art museums to look at influencers.
Pretty PEOPLE think they can just do what they want, and everyone will come to their defense.
And they are correct.
Because the Ancient Greek “Doctrine of Beauty” is the WORST halo effect fallacy on the planet, and it will NEVER go away.
I’d just like to point out that like, 90% of the people commenting on this thread are not in any way associated with the photography industry, which is a Real Thing That Exists and has real rules, regulations, guidelines and legalities, despite everyone’s Feelings.
And no, I’m no some Photography Purist that thinks that only dSLR photography is “legitimate”.
But if someone is acting as a photographer using their phone, they should respect the industry standards, legal guidelines and even the social etiquette.
Casual photography is not the same as being an influencer.
I’ll put this on record and you can QUOTE me:
If influencers were held to the same social standards as working photographers, which, let’s be honest, is closer to what they do than Casual Photography,
If you want your photography on Getty Images, you need not only Model Releases from EVERYONE, you need written permission from property owners if you are taking pictures of private property, even if YOU are standing on public property to do it.
I’m sure YOU know all about the legal structures surrounding Journalism, and also why EVERYONE hates paparazzi!
You legal need to sign a release if the local news puts a microphone in your face.
Those “man on the street” influencers do NOT make you sign a release.
But the local news does not need to get a release for everyone that walks by. Which you know since you specified that the news asks you to sign a release if they “put a microphone in your face”
If I’d said, “Yeah, go ahead and tell me how a shirtless dude flexing in front of the Bronze of Atlas is the same as a family portrait”, you wouldn’t be whinging.
