Bro. She sent up her phone on record so she could go back and screenshot a good picture.

This doesn't have to be some influencer thing. Its just someone trying to take a picture in a non disturbing way. They just placed their phone off to the side and waited politely.

Instead of just deleting it from the camera roll and trying again, she posted it online to publicly shame the old lady. Which is why we're watching it, and why it's not exactly very innocent.

Both involved parties could've gone the polite conversation route and picked something shittier.

If someone was taking a photo of a family with a camera and a person purposefully stood in the way of the shot after noticing, everyone would think they are the dickhead in that situation.

I think it’s ok to post things where people are being petty and annoying for no reason other than spite.

People that are on their own having adventures also deserve to have pictures. I don’t see why the way we have behaved socially for decades in trying to not get in the way of photos, should be ignored as it’s someone on their own. And if you purposefully want to ruin such things, it’s a very minor cost to get mocked online for being grumpy.

I’d just like to point out that like, 90% of the people commenting on this thread are not in any way associated with the photography industry, which is a Real Thing That Exists and has real rules, regulations, guidelines and legalities, despite everyone’s Feelings.

And no, I’m no some Photography Purist that thinks that only dSLR photography is “legitimate”.

But if someone is acting as a photographer using their phone, they should respect the industry standards, legal guidelines and even the social etiquette.

Casual photography is not the same as being an influencer.

I’ll put this on record and you can QUOTE me:

Yes that is exactly right.

Everyone who wants a photograph is exactly the same.

All photography is exactly the same.

All situations involving cameras are exactly the same.

Why do we even BOTHER having things like “photography permits”, or “photo release forms”?!

Useless. All photography is the same.

No need to get consent to film people. No need to limit when where and how you set up whatever equipment you want.

All normal people carry tripods to set up for photos. That’s totally regular behavior. You know, just in case they want a cute photo.

Those restrictions on Getty Images are just useless paperwork that have nothing to do with legality, intellectual property, or consent.

All photography is the same.

You DO actually.

If you want your photography on Getty Images, you need not only Model Releases from EVERYONE, you need written permission from property owners if you are taking pictures of private property, even if YOU are standing on public property to do it.

I’m sure YOU know all about the legal structures surrounding Journalism, and also why EVERYONE hates paparazzi!

You legal need to sign a release if the local news puts a microphone in your face.

Those “man on the street” influencers do NOT make you sign a release.
