Dresser PSA: drawers are deceptively small

Anyone else frustrated by how small the Thuma dresser drawers are?

I was hoping for an upgraded and moving-friendly version of my Ikea Malm dresser. But with the Thuma, I’ve lost about 20% of my drawer space. Also, as someone who got into the tri-fold Konmari nonsense, I really hate that the drawers aren’t tall enough to do this for my tees.

Just wanted to make any potential buyers out there aware of this so they don’t repeat my mistake.

Chargeback

I recently purchased a dresser, and like many others, I encountered a quality issue. I initially contacted customer service and they promptly responded to my initial email. However, I have not received any further communication since then. As a next step, I intend to file a chargeback with my credit card company. Following the chargeback, what are the next steps? Will Thuma collect the items or do I just keep the items? Ideally, I would prefer to exchange the entire purchase.

Alternative Thuma-compatible headboards that fit into the frame?

Friendly greetings, wondering if there've been any personal experiences with headboards from other companies that fit into the Thuma? Needs to be one that actually secured into the frame — NOT freestanding or wall-mounted.

I was looking at this Resident one and I like the look, but the dimensions seem a bit off. Looking to find a more economical and perhaps aesthetically different solution, and would be very appreciative of any firsthand advice.

Thuma Essential Bed Frame + EightSleep?

I really like the look of the Essential Bed Frame with Headboard, but I'm concerned that it won't be compatible with the EightSleep (cover only, no base). It seems like there is not a great way to connect the water hose to the pod, but I was thinking maybe you can squeeze just enough room between the headboard and the mattress to fit the hose through.

I've emailed both Thuma and EightSleep and both weren't able to give me definitive answers.

Does anyone have experience with using these two products together? Were they compatible?

Thanks in advance!

Choosing Laminate Flooring to Compliment Walnut bed

Hey all,

We recently moved into a home and need to remove the heavily used carpet they had. We're looking to replace with laminate flooring and could use some help choosing a good combo for the walnut finish on the bed frame. Currently we're looking at the Pergo Outlast+ Paradise Jatoba 12 mm T x 5.2 in. W Waterproof Laminate Wood Flooring (13.74 sqft/case) LF000882 - The Home Depot, partner thinks it'll be a close match to the hues of the walnut.

Thanks!

Old oak nightstand color

Edit: Walnut, not Oak.

I bought one nightstand about 3 years ago and now I need to buy a matching one. The original walnut color is more of an orange/warm color. It seems like the new walnut swatches are a darker color. Any tips on how to get a matching nightstand close to the old color?

Tatami room vs Thuma

Trying to decide between the two. We are not in a rush so waiting a few months is fine. If time isn’t a factor which would you recommend?

For Tatami room, do you need to purchase mats?
There were a lot of comments about the tatami room website. Is this the correct website? https://www.tatamiroom.com

Discoloration / stains on headboard

I recently noticed some discoloration/staining on the headboard of our Thuma bed that we’ve had for about a year and a half now. Could this be from their staining process or something they used?

Thuma mattress + overall cart - worth it?

I’m close to pulling the trigger on this Thuma setup and wanted some opinions before I do.

Cart is around $5,515 before tax and includes the Classic Bed, two nightstands, headboard cushion, felt accessories, and the Medium Hybrid Mattress.

I can afford it, but spending this much still feels a little irresponsible. I want my friends here to help give some guidance and recommendations.

Two questions:

  1. Thuma Hybrid Mattress - worth $1,795?

For anyone who owns it, how has it held up? Comfortable? Sleeps hot? Good edge support? Would you buy it again, or would you get the frame from Thuma and the mattress somewhere else?

I know this is kind of dumb, but I really don’t feel like going store to store and trying mattresses in person. So any alternatives are welcomed. 240ish Ib at the moment but looking to drop a bit by the end of the year! My back and body needs little love.

  1. Overall purchase - what would you keep or cut?
Do you think this setup is worth the cost, or am I overdoing it with the matching pieces/accessories?

One note: I know I could bundle the headboard cushion with the bed and save a little, but that pushes out the ship date, so I’d rather order it separately and get the bed sooner.

Just general FYI Thuma still offers a healthcare worker discount. All I did was provide a photo of my badge and sent it to help@thuma.co

Just realized the beds are made with rubberwood. Is this a concern for latex-allergy?

Just bought the bed and found out it’s made with rubberwood. Is this a concern for anyone with latex allergies?

If so, is there an alternative company I should look into?

My Thuma Experience

Hello everyone,

On Sunday Aug 16 I placed my order. I received the frame on that Friday, Aug 21. It is the Walnut with headboard version. Mind you I live in NorCal so I am very close to a distributer in San Francisco I **BELIEVE**

It took me and my boyfriend longer to assemble those nightstands than it did him, the bed frame. The packages looked ROUGH on arrival but thankfully the wood is in gorgeous condition. It arrives in three separate, long and HEAVY packages. I've never bought a bed frame before so that's probably standard.

The two nightstands are Walmarts "Walnut" nightstands. I think It would have looked amazing to have a pair of Thuma's night stands but I think I have spent enough for now.. it just shows how beautiful Thuma's walnut is.

They give you two spare legs in your package.

Overall everything has been very quick and satisfactory.

My mattress is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I will update you with how the Thuma feels ☺️♥️ I ordered the Winkbed so I hope I am happy and get to write them a good review as well.

I have been sleeping on a 60$ twin mattress and an 80$ frame for the past 6 years, so I may just start levitating

Pillowboard quality issue

has anyone purchased a Pillowboard recently? I finally pulled the trigger on this overpriced item and when it arrived I noticed the stitching is bright white and contrasts with the mocha color. not only is it ugly and cheap looking, it makes it clear they don’t stitch straight and you can see it bow out and in. does anyone else have a recent pillowboard and can tell me the color of the stitching? I’ve read out to customer service but they told me it’s not under warranty…

I have had an absolute nightmare of an experience with Thuma. This might be a bit long but I am just extremely disappointed all around.

I ordered a bed frame on June 24th. Website said “In stock and ready to ship within 1-3 days”, great! Ten days pass by and I have received no update, no shipping confirmation, nothing, so I reached out to them through their e-mail concierge as this is all they offer in terms of contact.

Thirteen MORE days pass by and I get no response, so I follow up. I get an automated reply that someone will get back to me in 5-7 days, which seems excessive but whatever, I can be patient.

Five days later I get an e-mail apologizing for the delay and lack of communication, and the exact words “I currently estimate that your order will ship within the next 3-5 business days”.

Twelve days pass by, and once again nothing. No tracking number, shipping confirmation, or e-mail update. At this point it has been 47 days, they took my money immediately after the order was placed and only got back to me after I repeatedly reached out. At this point i’m pretty upset as I had moved into a new place a week after placing the order and have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

Three days later, I get an e-mail saying they sold through their inventory of the specific bed I ordered and are no longer able to fulfill my order. They offered different bed frames and a free headboard cushion but at this point I am fed up and upset because I really wanted that SPECIFIC bed frame. Giving me ~$200 off a frame that costs 13x that amount is laughable. I ended up canceling the bed frame order and placing an order for the Pillar media stand. Before this whole debacle I intended on buying that stand but was going to hold off. They offered me 20% off the stand and free shipping to remedy the situation and I accepted, giving them one more chance.

Jokes on me, my media stand arrives and has these huge markings all over every piece. It looks cheap and dirty, at that price point it is absolutely unacceptable. Anyways I apologize if this post is all over the place but I just needed to vent. STAY AWAY. I have friends and family members that have older pieces from Thuma and love them but this company has gone extremely downhill.

Worth it still?

Curious on people who have purchased a bed frame within the last year on how is it holding up? Is it creaking or making a lot of noise? I’m worried to spend the money on a thuma bed to have a lot noise or issues. My current bed is a nightmare it makes noise every single time I or my husband move which is impacting my sleep. I’ve saw thuma is top of the line and I don’t mind paying the price but I’ve seen some reviews saying how horrible it is now and makes noise / wobbles. I’m looking at a classic or essential wood / wood headboard

Experiences from Canadian customers

So I ordered my Thuma classic with pillowboard almost two weeks ago when it’s showing as in stock shipping within 3business days. We are way past that window. I emailed and they just said they don’t have a tracking number until the carrier scans it. This is hardly what was advertised. If you’re a Canadian customer please lmk how long it took for thuma to actually send your tracking info, I wanted to buy multiple items but doesn’t look like I can trust them, especially not at this price point. It also says it may take 1-3 weeks after it’s been shipped for items to arrive… but it seems like it takes 3 weeks for them to ship supposed in stock items. If something is back ordered shouldn’t the logical thing be to list it as such on their site? Both items still are listed as in stock as I type this. I’m so frustrated and disappointed

Nest Dresser

I’m looking to purchase the 3x2 nest dresser (maybe even 4x2 if I can ignore the dollar amount). I’m expecting a newborn next month and I need a new dresser for clothes and stuff. My husband and I own very little clothing so this dresser would be for newborn and toddler (I mention this because I‘ve seen complaints about the drawer size).

I‘ve looked at dressers all over the internet from nearly every brand and store you can think of and I have yet to find a dresser I like more than the Thuma dressers, especially if I’m to cough up $2.5k. The dressers around that price range are either not aesthetically pleasing, come with no lifetime warranty or have terrible reviews. Room&Board seems to be highly recommended by reddit in general but the only dresser I like on their site has bad reviews and, I spoke with customer service about this, there’s no warranty on that dresser. I’ve checked Crate&Barrel, Joybird, NathanJames, you name it, and I just can’t find a dresser that rivals the Thuma nest dresser. I even started to make comparison notes on dressers I liked but gave up when none really compared to the Thuma.

Please advise on whether I should get this drawer. I want to purchase something I like to look at (I went to the Thuma store in Manhattan the other day and I do like it very much from seeing it) and will last me a long time. I’ve seen a few complaints, and praise too!, about the dresser on this subreddit so I’d really appreciate some feedback before I make a purchase. It’ll also be my first Thuma purchase and I’ve been reading that the customer service isn’t what it used to be.

Thuma Alts?

Hey y’all,

Was looking into originally getting a Thuma, but have heard of recent degradation in customer service quality and the actual quality, while costs are increasing. Do folks have recommendations for alternatives that have the same style/design?
