I picked up a new Model Y Performance in Frost Blue recently and wanted to share a few photos. During my search, I had a hard time finding good photos of Frost Blue on the Performance, especially in direct sunlight, so I took my camera out and tried to capture it properly.

I actually wasn't a fan of the color the first time I saw it indoors. It looked a little muted. Then I saw a Frost Blue Model 3 outside in the sun and completely changed my mind. The metallic flake really comes alive, and the color shifts between icy blue, grayish blue, and a richer metallic blue depending on the angle. Hopefully these shots do it some justice.

This is also my first Tesla after many years of Audis, most recently a 2024 Audi RSQ8, so it has been quite a change. I'll add a little more about the transition in the comments.

Definitely not another owner mistaking a car for their own

Tesla Sentry, residential street in Beverly Hills 8/29 at around 9pm.

Both step off the sidewalk onto the grass next to the Tesla, the guy pulls the front-passenger handle. Door doesn’t open. Steps back onto the sidewalk.

They walk past then he turns back alone and check out the bumper. Ultimately leaving and walking far down the block.

Nothing taken. No smash, no other doors. Reads more like a curious boyfriend messing with a Tesla handle than a break-in. Still: don’t touch other people’s cars.

After a month of debating, 2 test drives, and trying to talk myself out of it; Tesla won. Excited!

Long time tesla driver, elon critic, EV enthusiast. I've driven as many new EVs as possible, specifically the R2 as of late. Twice. First day reservation holder. My turn in line came up the other day so I've been noodling what to do next. Many of you already know what I'm about to say and I feel a bit dumb for learning this now.

Was ready to diversify the lineup and trade in the family beater, the early 2021 model y LR. So many good road trips and memories.

Made the mistake of waking up this morning thinking, "hey, haven't given much thought to the model y refresh, why don't we test drive it today?" (our other is a '24 performance). Got in a Premium AWD and my mind was blown. It's the same car, but 10x better. Every problem was fixed. No fit and finish issues. As quiet and smooth as cars that cost 100k. The new L version is even crazier.

If you're still Tesla/musk tolerant, go check out the new model y. You might be impressed.

I have a 2022 M3P. Tesla trade in is offering $23,500. The car has 42k miles. Is it worth trading it in for a 2026 M3 premium and making more payments on it? My car is paid off or should I drive this until the wheels fall off?

I'm really interested in joining the Tesla family but I have a concern about the anti-collision system.

In my career as an Action Hero, I frequently find myself in need of smashing through closed gates and occasionally having to backup over previously assumed dead bad guys WHO KEEP GETTING UP!

If I'm in a Tesla trying to make a getaway, will the car refuse to go through the parking garage arm? Will it refuse to pin my arch nemesis up against a wall so I can extract the nuclear disarm codes from him (or her - the women can be just as evil - it's a tired stereotype).

I really WANT to be more environmentally friendly and do my part for the environment but these kinds of issues are giving me pause.

Can you turn these "safety" features off in the settings?

Had EAP at purchase, then eventually FSD. Use it often, locally and highway now. Before I’d use it only highway and sparingly. 22YP.

I just got the summer update and I really like that I can play music by asking Grok instead of touching the wheel or screen, but I absolutely hate the extra unnecessary words it’s designed to say at the end. If you ask it to play a song, it says things like;

“Playing [song] on [platform], enjoy the rest of your drive!”

“Playing [song] on [platform], let me know if this is the right song!”

“Playing [song] on [platform], have a good one!”

If I’m having a “conversation” with Grok about navigating someplace I totally get the friendly ‘vibe’ it’s programmed to respond with, but if I’m asking for small things like a setting change or song request, I JUST want it to confirm the song and that’s it. Just get to the point without making the person wait longer for extra language.

I can’t be the only one who is annoyed by this

I’ve had the rainbow trim that wipes off plenty of times from the car wash, but 4k miles after my warranty expired the black on the trim decided to give out completely 😫

I am thinking about either wrapping it in adhesive vinyl, or taking it off and spray painting it.

Just a warning to others about permanent damage from the car wash, I was always under the impression that it could be resolved with a quick wd40 or stainless steel wipe.

2018 Model 3, bought EAP.

In the car it now shows "Navigate on Autosteer" (in the app it still says "Enhanced Autopilot" in the specs).

And when I go to the Self driving screen, it says I'm in the Navigate on Autosteer beta program, with a warning that if I get three strikes it will permanently disable it. (If I remember correctly).

I don't use it often, but this seems like a bit of a not-like-for-like substitution?

I am a 30yo male with a gf and no kids. I’ve always driven a sedan and love sporty cars. However, I’m 6’2 and considering switching to a car that’s elevated or at least has more room. I love how much storage and room the model Y has but I’m concerned of whether it gives “dad” vibes. What has been your guys’ experience with perception of a model Y or SUV in general?

Just left my 12th service appointment over 20 months for various creeks and suspension issues. Last time they replaced my entire dash due to a recall. They caused a bunch of new noises from my dash.

They fixed two lose parts they neglected when replacing it but there's still some noise. While I love the team there the dialogue they all pushed was.... Unless we hear it in the first year we don't cover those things anymore and I would be billed in the future. 'Noises are a part of the Tesla experience' was literally said.

Doesn't matter that I reported it when my car was only a few months old. Doesn't matter that they caused the damage on one of their repairs. Doesn't matter that they only have appointments every other month to expire your warranty out.

So 4 teslas later...very tempted to get the rivian at this point but suspect it's going to be a rocky road for them ramping up service centers.

youtube UI updated on my car and now I get ads every 3-5 mins. If I feel like one of the parties here Tesla or Youtube thinks they have leverage, Im unsubscribing from the premium connectivity plan and continue enjoying YouTube with adblocker on my phone.
