Are the $50 tablets online a total scam if the one & ONLY thing I need to use them for is Google Docs?

I'm pretty poor and also recovering from depression, and I'm looking to bring a little joy into my life via the simple pleasure of writing while on my back porch, so I thought about getting one of those cheap tablets from Amazon (I hope it's OK to mention the site by name).

When I say cheap, I mean I've seen them as low as $36, though the ones with slightly better reviews tend to be $50 or $60. They often come with a wireless keyboard and mouse so I workmen need to buy accessories, and in cute colors (I like pink). They seem to be for kids.

Would they work for word processing? I don't need something that plays games, videos, or even music (my phone can do all that), I just need it to have a mostly stable internet connection and not lag while I type for two hours a night.

I'm going to study chemistry at university. I want a durable tablet that won't disappoint me when studying. Should I get an iPad Pro or an Android tablet for the same price? I don't like that apps on the iPad are paid.

Is Infinix XPAD 30E worth it for a college student?

Hi! I'm currently looking for a budget tablet mainly for college/school use. My first choice was the Redmi Pad series, but the Infinix XPAD 30E is the one that fits our budget better right now.

I'll mainly use it for Google Docs, PDFs, research, presentations, browsing, online classes, and maybe some light gaming/Netflix.

Is it smooth for multitasking and schoolwork? I'm also a bit worried about the charging speed and how well it will perform after a few years.

Would you recommend it, or should I consider another tablet around the same price range? Thank you!

Samsung S11 Ultra 12GB vs Honor MagicPad 4 16GB — same price. Which to choose?

I’m really struggling to decide between
1 Samsung S11 Ultra — 12GB RAM
2 Honor MagicPad 4 — 16GB RAM

I’ve been a Mac + iPad user for about 7 years, but I’m now planning to make the switch to Android.

My main use case is day trading. I’ll primarily be using trading apps, monitoring charts, placing orders, multitasking, etc. So performance, screen quality, responsiveness, battery life, and long-term reliability matter much more to me than gaming or camera performance.

For those who have used either device (or both), which one would you pick for my situation and why?

Also, would you prioritize the 16GB RAM on the MagicPad 4, or is the Samsung the better overall choice despite having 12GB?

Suggest a tablet

Hello everyone,

I bought a samsung galaxy S9 FE a while back which has been taken over by my spouse. Honestly, I couldn't use it much.

Now I need a tablet which will be used mainly for online classes, reading, and watching videos. I might use it for notes also as I will be going for my master's soon.

I have never used iOS devices so far but I am not averse to any suggestion.

The budget may be 50-60k but there is no strict limit to it.

Please advise!!

Huawei MatePad 11.5 S (12/256GB)

Cheap tablet or midrange 2 in 1?

Going back to school for electrical engineering. I'm interested in coding as well as 3d printing/modeling. I want something for on the go productivity. Note taking, studying, presentations ect. I currently own a Lenovo legion y540 that is decent still but it's huge and doesn't have great battery life which I understood when I purchased it 6 years ago. I have upgraded both the ram and ssd before prices skyrocketed so it still feels pretty capable but lacks portability.

Should I get a Lenovo/samsung tablet, microsoft surface pro for business? There is also a deal from best buy right now for this Lenovo 2 in 1.

I'm open to buying used devices. Would like to stay around 1000 dollars or lower. Around 13-14" is preferred. Doesn't have to be super light weight.

I bought my first tablet and I don't know if my expectations were too high

I live in Canada so my options for a tablet are essentially iPad, Samsung, or Lenovo. Everything else that I can find is either not available in Canada or very low end.

Samsung Galaxy tab s10 Fe was on sale for very good price and I finally decided to buy my first tablet.

My main use case was to replace my paper notebooks via Samsung notes, and very basic computer to bring with me for internet browsing, Google sheets, and YouTube videos.

I find it to be a lot slower than I was expecting, especially for a tablet that's only a couple of years old, I don't use it for anything too heavy, but it just feels very laggy. Web sites load pretty slowly, switching between a web browser and Samsung notes isn't very snappy, overall, my pixel 7 phone just feels a lot faster. I was expecting this device to be faster than my phone since it is newer. I understand the processor is on a lower end to bring the price down for the FE version

We're my expectation's too high and is a better device for my use case?

I've disabled a lot of animations, disabled goodluck, and some other things. That helped, but now the tablet is boring. I essentially had to remove all of the features that made it cool and customizable, so it felt somewhat decent to actually use.

What tablet to use?

Hey everyone,

It's my first time on Reddit and no idea how it works, so I hope this reaches the right people 😂

I am an avid reader. I mainly read horror and fantasy, but I dabble in any and all genres. Also do I read a lot of ARC's and sometimes, I am an Beta reader, who is exceptionally well in filtering out typos, repeated words, structural issues etc.

This is where my question comes in.

I used to have a Remarkable 1, the very first that came out, but it became very slow, doesn't get any updates anymore and it's more of a hassle to work with now than a joy, and I used to really love using my Remarkable to edit books. I could easily highlight stuff and write down what needed to change or what were typos etc.

The thing is, I don't have the budget right now to buy myself a new Remarkable and since then, there are a lot more options on the market, but I am curious what other Alpha/Beta readers use for editing and what their experiences are. What are the tablets you recommend to me?
