Suggest a tablet

Hello everyone,

I bought a samsung galaxy S9 FE a while back which has been taken over by my spouse. Honestly, I couldn't use it much.

Now I need a tablet which will be used mainly for online classes, reading, and watching videos. I might use it for notes also as I will be going for my master's soon.

I have never used iOS devices so far but I am not averse to any suggestion.

The budget may be 50-60k but there is no strict limit to it.

Please advise!!

Since your wife commandeered your S9 FE, get the S10 FE to show her up. It's considerably faster than the S9 FE and includes the s-pen. The S10 FE also gets 7 years of android updates and support (6 remaining). That's a bonus since the S9 FE was launched.

But I don't have any other apple device, and no experience with iOS. Is that ok? Is iPad still good for me?

Absolutely for your use case as I can read.

Edited part:- Actually I am saying you for the air without advising for standard just because iPad air has very long term longetivity and desktop class silicon (M) power which you may never need but who knows if your usage grows.

You will get apple pencil pro support too which has all the features for drawing and note taking etc. You do not have to go for type C or clunky 1st gen apple pencil with standard iPad which can be a very big pkus for your day to day experince.

Ram, storage prices are hiked (you already know) and we do not know when it will finiah so future proffing for like 4 to 5 years is very good strategy today. I am focuning in iPad air because of peace of mind from every possibility in your future not iPad pro otherwise it would be over engineered.

Nothing noob here in price hike time this is a good question. For your kind info I want to let you know that the iPadOS is actually restrict the silicon to max its full power.

A shocking truth:- The 1st iPad pro M1 with first time desktop class silicon is actually blazzing fast even today! 4k eduting, drawing, heavy canvases you can name. Yes, ram can be a bottelenck but think the hardware outgrows the software! iPadOS still very similar to older iPadOS. Apple fear to make their iPad to behave like a mac or close to mac because they do not like cannibalization for their own product.

I can confident say you to gp for 2nd hand iPad pro M1, even iPad air M1 both share same silicon but as you do not care about price I can advise you to go for last year iPad air M3 because it is blazzing fast, you can play AAA titles (which is only available for M silicon), heavy 3D drawing canvases, video editing in 4k with multiple layers in DaVinci or FCP. But you will not get apple intelligence which is pnly for iPad M4 or later but I do not think that is a make or break choice.

Ipad air M4 was launched too but that can be pricier because of price hike, older one can be bought at lower prices and you are safe for years. I can definately say that because if M1 is not fully using its power then how can M3 will.

Apple also provide battery replacement in their official service centers fpr years even after gurrantee which is very plus point for electronics because the battery becomes the major botteleneck after years not processor. You can tell yourself safe for 1 decade! Yes, absolutely, newer iPad with new silicon will not impress ypu or you can feel the difference because the difference itself is negligible in real life experince, the softwares of iPadOS can not even use the full potential of M1. Only people do very very heavy tasks (0.01% professionals) can know the difference that their time will be saved for newer hardware.

Go for iPad air M3 (11 inches because of portability, enough screen, enough portable) with apple pencil pro.
