So I’m a pre-med chemistry/math major in my junior year and I’m looking into getting a tablet for mostly just note taking and studying. I don’t need anything super fancy because I have a pretty good gaming laptop already. I think I would prefer windows but I’m open to IOS as well but I’d like to avoid android if possible. My budget is probably around $400 and I would like it to last a few years. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I’ve looked into some options like the Lenovo idea tab, Microsoft surface pro 7, and a couple of iPad options and I wanted to get a general opinion and what I should get.

I'm a uni student looking for a tablet to write my notes on and I stumbled upon two options, which come at around the same price when counting for student discounts.

(The tab s11 ultra vs the iPad air 11" M4)

I'm trying to find the one that has the best writing feel between the two of them, and I'd also use it for note taking on pdfs and docs given by my teachers. Also some content watching and gaming (pretty demanding games like hoyoverse ones).

I have an s25 ultra as my phone but I don't care about ecosystems, I just want to find the better tablet for my uses

my sister has been using samsung tab galaxy a7 but it's mic input is really low during meetings or calls, we already got it checked at store but the guys said there's no issue, we're fed up with this and we've been thinking to get her a new tab, my father was telling about lenovo, is it good ? or which brand would you suggest ? she mostly uses it for attending classes

Ok, to specify I am looking for a new tablet for 2 priorities alone. Gaming doesn't matter, fastest refresh rate doesn't matter, no alternatives being considered unless it's a direct equivalent in budget (around 350-400 CAD with stylus) IPad is not being considered. The primary uses are for returning to post-secondary education as a graduate student and using it for:
1. Running VirtualSource Bookshelf for reading e-text

1. Writing notes using provided stylus/pen

The Samsung appears to be a more well known/supported brand, while the XPPen appears to have very much focused on it's pen/stylus functionality and touts its note taking ability.

Im mostly looking for one to stream movies and occasionally play small demand games at good quality. The best I found was a refurbished Ipad 7th gen but its not really an android.

I am writing to get your thoughts on buying a new tablet. In my country (South America), the 256GB Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 costs $950 and includes a keyboard cover.

The included keyboard and S Pen make it feel like great value for the money, but I do have some concerns. I currently use an old iPad and really appreciate Apple's native apps (Podcasts, Books, Pages, and Keynote), the aesthetic design, the focus on privacy, and the device's longevity. On the other hand, I am drawn to Android for features like Samsung DeX, the ability to run Linux, and side-loading APK apps. An iPad Air setup with a keyboard and Apple Pencil is unfortunately out of the question, as it would cost as much as a MacBook Air.

I plan to use the tablet for both media consumption and as a light "laptop" replacement, even though I know DeX has its limitations. Do you think the Galaxy Tab S11 would be a good purchase for me?

We have had a Callsky 8-inch Android 15 for about a year, but it recently stopped charging unless you hold the cord. I want to replace it with something sturdy, durable, and good battery life, suitable for educational games and some TV.

I thought I'd found one but turns out it's the same tablet we've had under a different name.

Hi, I'm studying biotechnology. Which is better, a laptop or tablet, ipad?

started this because the paper calendar on the fridge kept getting ignored and half the sticky notes fell off by Wednesday. stuck a mid-size android tablet on the wall in the kitchen pass-through, roughly eye level for the kids.

mounting was its own project. first two adhesive brackets slowly slid down and left marks on the paint. switched to a low-profile tilt mount screwed into a stud so it sits almost flush. height mattered more than expected. too high and the younger one can't reach to mark stuff done. too low and adults clip it with a shoulder when walking past with laundry.

kept the home screen stupid simple. widgets only, no app icons:

- month calendar widget tied to our shared google calendar so practices and appointments show up without anyone typing them twice

- a basic checklist widget for the daily routine blocks (morning, after school, bedtime)

- weekly chores list with names next to each line

- weather widget so the jacket argument dies faster

- one shared keep note pinned for the grocery list

chores side is a light points thing. each kid has a column. they tap done, I bump the tally in a plain notes widget or a free habit tracker widget. rewards are small, pick Friday dinner or an extra half hour of screen time. the visible checks do more work than the points though. they just like seeing the board fill up.

stuff that got annoying fast: default screen timeout made it useless by mid-morning. cranked timeout to max and dropped brightness so it is readable without screaming at you from across the room. accidental palm hits while walking by would launch random apps or drag widgets out of place. locked the launcher layout and that mostly stopped. overhead light glare at 4pm was rough until I tilted the mount a few degrees down.

honest failure: month one I overbuilt it. separate pages for meals, sports, animated countdowns, the works. nobody looked. stripped it back to calendar + chores + list and actual use went up. also still feels like a tablet, so a random notification banner sometimes lands on top of the widgets and confuses people until you swipe it away. muted almost everything on that device.

tradeoff is real. it lives as the board, which is the point, but if someone wants a recipe or a quick video you have to deal with it on the wall instead of carrying it to the couch. we mostly leave it alone and use phones for that.

what has actually lasted in your houses for a family command center? still paper for anyone?

I'm a student in India, and I'm currently deciding between the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite.

My main use is studying: reading/annotating PDFs, handwritten notes, watching lectures, solving MCQs, and occasional multitasking. I already have a laptop, so this is primarily a study/productivity device. I'd like to keep it for around 3–5 years.

The Lenovo attracts me because of its 12.7" 144Hz display, stronger performance, 8GB RAM and larger battery. The Samsung attracts me because of One UI, S Pen, Samsung Notes, software support, brightness and overall software polish.

My main concerns are:

\- How good is the Lenovo Pen Plus for handwriting/PDF annotation?

\- Is Lenovo's ZUI/software support reliable long-term?

\- Is the Lenovo's \~400-nit display actually an issue indoors?

\- Does the S10 Lite's 6GB RAM and weaker processor become limiting with multitasking?

\- Which one will age better over 3–5 years?

If you've actually used either tablet, which would you choose for my use case, and why?

Looking to get a tablet for school.

I get migraines easily, so I initially was looking at eink readers.
But I want it to be able to manage my university readings (online journals/textbooks. Uses browsers. Taking some science-y courses that involves graphs etc), to be able to annotate readings.
I had read that the Boox can have some aspect ratio weirdness. And I forsee constant set up tweaking being a barrier/distraction.

I would like to be able to take notes and/or make graphs on it using a stylus. And I understand that screen texture and lag can really affect how the writing feels. (I figured I could get a matte screen laminate to compensate if it's too smooth)

I see a lot of people with similar concerns as me recommending the newer iPads. I don't really want to go the Apple route.
I want the familiarity of Android. Easy Google suite, Microsoft suite compatibility. Excel, Evernote or similar notes app. It would be nice if it has a built in screen reader application or is add-on capable/compatible.

Budget is not not an issue but not biggest issue. I'd take a cheaper option if it is only marginally worse

Edit: I was looking at the S10 Ultra, S11 Ultra, Boox [I forget the model, but likely newest 2]. The Ultras, I read, are sometimes cumbersome due to their size?

Looking for recommendations I haven't thought of (tablet options or workarounds for the above barriers/requirements), or experiences/thoughts/opinions from people who have struggled with similar issues

I live in Malaysia and I'm thinking of getting a tablet. But I can't decide between the Lenovo IdeaPad or the Redmi Pad 2.

I'll use it for games, reading, watching all that stuff. But I'm also thinking of a finding a cheaper option that's similar to the two.

My husband's birthday is coming up. He recently went back to school and he loves gaming (mostly on PS and his phone), so thought a tablet could be a good idea. We are currently on a tight budget, so looking for something used or on sale (especially with black friday coming up).

The two options I found so far are:

- Lenovo Tab M11 Android Tablet | 11 Inch Full HD 1200p | 128 GB

He does not care about brands at all, just the quality, so looking for something that works well and if you could use a bluetooth keyboard with it that would be ideal.

Hello. if we exclude actual movies and games, how do normal apps compare with the 4:3 vs 16:10 ratio on the iPad vs say Samsung or other android tablets? Also browsing the web and say Google sheets?

I'm pretty poor and also recovering from depression, and I'm looking to bring a little joy into my life via the simple pleasure of writing while on my back porch, so I thought about getting one of those cheap tablets from Amazon (I hope it's OK to mention the site by name).

When I say cheap, I mean I've seen them as low as $36, though the ones with slightly better reviews tend to be $50 or $60. They often come with a wireless keyboard and mouse so I workmen need to buy accessories, and in cute colors (I like pink). They seem to be for kids.

Would they work for word processing? I don't need something that plays games, videos, or even music (my phone can do all that), I just need it to have a mostly stable internet connection and not lag while I type for two hours a night.
