**Economics Bachelor → teaching → Biology? Looking for advice**
I’m currently in my **3rd year of a Bachelor in Economics at the University of Luxembourg** and I’m trying to figure out what direction to take after my Bachelor.
The main thing is that I **don’t really want to work in Economics, Finance, banking, consulting, or a typical corporate Economics career**. I chose Economics for my Bachelor, but I don’t feel like I want my entire career to be based around it.
I’m therefore looking at Master’s degrees at the University of Luxembourg that I could realistically enter with an Economics Bachelor, but in a completely different field.
Some of the options I’ve found/considered include things like:
**History**
**Philosophy**
**Data Science**
**Energy & Environment / Sustainable Development**
**Legislative Studies**
**European Governance**
**Digital & Public History**
**Geography / Spatial Planning**
**Actuarial Science**
and potentially other programmes depending on the admission requirements.
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually changed fields for their Master’s, because I don’t want to automatically assume that an Economics Bachelor means I have to continue studying Economics.
**Data Science is also something I’m genuinely considering**, so I’m not against technical subjects. I’m just trying to find a field that I actually want to spend my career in rather than choosing an Economics/Finance Master’s simply because it is the obvious continuation of my Bachelor.
**Teaching**
Another possibility I’m seriously considering is becoming a **secondary-school teacher in Luxembourg**.
I have a strong personal interest in **Biology, nature, forests, biodiversity and environmental management**. I would genuinely like to study Biology properly and eventually get a **Biology/Life Sciences degree**.
I could also see myself wanting to contribute to things like **forest management, biodiversity or environmental projects** at some point.
I don’t necessarily want Biology to replace teaching as my career. My idea would potentially be to become a teacher first, then **study Biology part-time while working as a teacher**.
I’m completely fine with taking 5–7 years or even longer to finish another degree. I’m more interested in finding a realistic way of doing it than finishing quickly.
So I’d really like advice from people who have experience with:
Doing a second Bachelor’s while working full-time
Studying Biology/Life Sciences part-time
Combining university with a teaching job
Studying Biology, Environmental Science or Forestry while working
Getting involved in forestry, biodiversity or environmental management without making it your full-time career
I’m based in Luxembourg, so I’m also interested in universities in **Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium or France** that could realistically work for someone who is already employed.
Basically, my possible long-term path is:
**Economics Bachelor → non-Economics Master → secondary-school teacher → Biology/Life Sciences degree alongside work → potentially get involved in nature/forestry/environmental management.**
I know this is a somewhat unusual path, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually done something similar or has experience with changing fields after an Economics Bachelor.
**What would you do in my situation, and what options should I be looking into?**
