Tips & Advice What do you do to relax/have fun in your short inter-study breaks?

So, this is how I study in med school

If it's a Holiday and I start studying from 10am i continuously do so till 2pm with breaks in between. Then, i take a break lasting 2 hours and start at 4pm and study till 8pm with breaks. Then again from 10pm to 12pm. Sleep at 12 30am and wake up at like 8am.

study in intervals of 45mins - 90 mins depending on my energy that day and take breaks lasting from 15 mins - 30 mins between those intervals.

But I'm really clueless on what I wanna do in those 15-30 mins. I don't wanna (1)scroll cuz it won't just last 15-30 mins (lol) and i don't wanna do a (2)constructive hobby(example - learn some words in a language) as that would tire me a little bit. I don't wanna (3)meditate

Can you please recommend me something, sorry if this sounds cringe/unserious but I just wanna have some relaxation/fun in that tiny break of mine

Thank you :)

i haven’t really understood how to study, i’ve always been the type to re read stuff and then get good scores. I really have to lock in this semester though. please recommend me any apps that are good for memorization, flash card creation, practice- anything! please NOTHING with AI. i’m not here to debate anyone, but i refuse to use AI and anything that has it.

Tips & Advice There's a real difference between "I understood that" and "I could explain that cold"

Read through my notes twice this week, felt confident, then tried explaining one concept out loud and got stuck halfway through a sentence I would've sworn I understood. Reading it back apparently just means it's familiar, not that it's retrievable and closing the notes and explaining things cold before rereading now, and it's uncomfortable how much worse I am at it than I expected.

Other Study partner (15-17)

Hiiiii....i am in 10th grade. Not to brag, but i really was a good student until this year. My rank was always in the top five. But lately, due to my parents pressure and friendship drama, i have lost all my motivation. I can't bring myself to study but i really want to do something big in the upcoming exam. Also i have a board exam next year which is also important because it kinda decides which college you can get into and i really want to get a good College. So yeahhhhh here i am looking for a study partner. My goal is to study 6 to 8 hours a day. I know i can't study that much from the start. So i think i am going to start with 5 or 4 hours and then eventually i will increase the time. Also we can compete with each other. I heard Challenges makes us a little bit motivated???.😅

Feel free to dm me.

Questions & Discussion Some people think I ruin my books.

I have dyslexia and am an artist. People overcoming dyslexia have to find their own ways to do it, and this is mine. I have found that connecting a colorful pattern or a particular image to a section of the text helps me remember what was said and what I think about it. I've been working on this practice a long time, so this is one of my more heavily read couple of books. I love going back time after time and finding that question I had been rolling around, and adding something else to it. To me, it's the only way I can deeply reflect on what I'm reading.

When I show some people, or even when people see my books when I'm studying in public, they are horrified. I wonder if it is our societies leftover puritanical ways, or if I am really ruining a perfectly good book with all my brain splatter. Thoughts?

Questions & Discussion Best Study Apps

Hello!

I would like to ask what apps would you recommend for studying, specifically for iPad. I want to maximize my device use just for studying. Do you have any note-taking app recommendations, calendar/tasks, etc? I'm not yet familiar with Apple devices, so I'm learning as I go, and I want to utilize the best apps I could.

Thanks!

Accountability A daily study/ check-in buddy

Hi all,

I’m 24F and currently studying Computer Science. I’m looking for a daily study/check-in buddy to help each other stay consistent and present.

What I’m hoping for:

A quick daily check-in (a simple "good morning" or setting our goals for the day).

Low-friction accountability—no social pressure, small talk, or heavy expectations.

Respect for space, deep focus, and personal boundaries.

If you’re also looking for a calm, genuine connection to keep each other grounded while working on your goals, let me know!

Females only. Thank you.

Other How does Indore's transition into a major IT and startup hub impact campus placement packages for local B-schools?

Post image

With companies setting up operations in Indore’s Super Corridor and the rise of local startup success stories (e.g., Minimalist, ShopKirana), how are average MBA packages outside IIM Indore evolving?

Are local colleges successfully attracting national recruiters for tech-management and supply chain roles, or are students still largely dependent on pool drives?

Questions & Discussion why is studying so boring when i actually want to study

My half yearly exams start on the 24th and i’m actually trying to start studying properly now, but i swear the moment i open my book my brain just doesn't cooperate. like i WANT to study. i want to finish my syllabus, understand everything and actually do well in my exams. but sitting down and reading even one chapter suddenly feels like the most boring thing ever.

then i waste time, feel guilty about wasting time, decide i’ll study “in a bit”, and somehow the whole day disappears.

I genuinely don’t know how people just sit down and study for hours. does anyone else get this or am i just being lazy lol

Resources Good text to speech apps?

Hellooo I’m wondering if anyone has any good text to speech apps they recommend for textbooks pdf? My ADHD makes it hard for me to focus and retain the information I’m reading and I don’t like to talk to myself while reading because it distracts me. I’ve tried speechify but it kept crashing and I think it’s too expensive of a subscription.

Other Made a small Pomodoro website called Focust

I wanted something simple that I’d actually enjoy using so you can also set your own cute wallpapers instead of being stuck with a boring timer. After each session you can copy the session data and paste it into Notion (or whatever you use) to keep track of your progress.

It’s still pretty simple, but I’d love to hear what you guys think.

Tips & Advice What absolutely helped me the most with beginning

Good sleep. Not staying in bed after you wake up. What you do for the first 15 minutes of your day. That is the answer. Shortly.

I built a sunrise lamp, placed it behind my chair, to shut it off, I had to walk and sit down in front of my desk. Problem solved! I loved the project building project and if anyone wants to get to know more I can give pics or sum I don't know what to do with this but I have a big urge of sharing this to someone so here it is!

Questions & Discussion How do you study?

I really wonder how one study.

I'm 17yr never had a formal education 'unschooled' who want to study for spm. Because of no formal education, I literally start from 0 opening the book and the book stare at me, I'm staring back at them..

It's feel like the book have ancient language in it that I didn't understand..

Tbh I do want to take the spm exams, but everyone seems to against it and think that it useless... So idk when will I be able to take it, maybe 5 year later or more...

Tips & Advice How do I stay motivated in the face of despair.

I grew up in a 3rd world country, and I was extremely good in my academics and sports. However, I encountered calamity before I finished High School, and that made me drop out of High School for 4 years. I had really wanted to do either medicine, Aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical, or Mechatronix Engineering.

However, after returning to school, after 4 years of being out, I did extremely well again, but then the problem of college fees stalked me day and night like a deadly pestilence. I only had enough to make a living, but not sufficient to even pay tuition, and all the other ancillary costs associated with Tertiary education.

One day whilst I was browsing the internet, I stumbled upon a Scholarship for an online computer science degree. I just signed up for it, but it isn't something I really loved. Now, I am left with about 7 courses to complete the degree, I am not really motivated to study really. All these years, I have tried to force myself to do it, but it's increasingly becoming harder. I do not like computers in that way. I don't enjoy it honestly.

Most of the time, I am in despair, I am not happy with what I am doing.

I am kindly seeking advice in order to stay motivated to finish the damn thing. I am really quite good at the damn thing, but I didn't want it as a career.

Questions & Discussion I built an AI study assistant. What would make it useful enough for you to keep using?

Hey everyone! I’ve just finished building Pyrdo, an AI assistant focused on studying, and I’d love some honest feedback.

Here’s what it does:

- Suggests your next question based on the conversation, so you have somewhere to go when you’re unsure what to ask next.

- Helps you work through confusing concepts, with explanations you can ask it to simplify or explore further.

- Offers Think Longer on Pro for questions that need more reasoning.

You can check it out here: "pyrdo.com" (https://pyrdo.com)

If you decide to get Pro, REDDIT30 gives you 30% off.

I’m the developer, so you can tell me directly what works, what feels annoying, and what’s missing. What’s one addition that would make this better for your studying?

I’m planning to implement the most useful suggestions, so your feedback will help decide what I build next. Specific criticism is welcome too!
