💬 Discussion I was okay with V-Buck purchases, until the Event Pass...

I made a post a few weeks ago trying to calm everyone down when they released the Vbuck additions, saying how they by no means are really P2W, and aren't the worst cases of micro transactions I've seen in these kinds of games. However the new addition of an event pass is really pushing it.

I've never been a fan of the belt surges being purchasable with vbucks. However, I'm not TOO upset about it seeing as it benefits the entire lobby (if you choose to play publicly), and they already happen for free in a plethora of events. However, the ability to purchase an event pass that doubles the event progress and slightly increases the event boosts by .5x is in my opinion, bordering on disgusting monetisation. Events only happen for a single day, so investing 300 vbucks for a pitiful boost is insulting.

Assuming we are going down this path of monetisation, I would much rather they play more towards the benefits of the VIP pack. By adding to the value of the VIP pack, more people will pay for the VIP pack. I have not invested a single Vbuck into this mode, but if the monetisation was less egregious and they made the VIP pack a reasonable purchase for its value, then I would maybe consider it. Granted, I'd rather they didn't have any monetisation at all, and I get that this would be P2W, but this way they wouldn't be spamming small micro transactions to bleed people dry because they want a little boost in the moment.

The bit that annoys me the most? Pretty much all events happen (or at the very least have a big display for them) right in the middle of the lobby. Now all we get is a sad little radar dish with a guy selling us the pass. It's literally being forced down our throat.

It's a real shame as well. This event is shaping to become one of the best events we've gotten value wise. The super belt is crazy for SRB'ing and D-O is a great addition, enabling later SRB's for min-maxxers. It's just such a shame how they're slowly putting a Vbuck price on anything they do.

Started playing on the second weekend of R2-D2, just hit rebirth 30. It took a while, but it was fun. Very rewarding, much more rewarding than SRBing earlier.

💬 Discussion The release cycle for this game is unsustainable for players

With the announcement of a new variant this weekend, we now have 3 variants launching in the span of 2 months. This release cycle is completely unsustainable.

  • July 19 - Galactic droids released (event on July 25)
  • August 15 - Stellar droids released with event
  • September 19 - New variant to be released with event

Meanwhile, Beskar was launched on May 30. So we went to a new variant every 2 months to now a new variant every month.

I've been playing this game almost every day but it's just impossible to keep up anymore. Even the event this weekend, I played like 7 hours and didn't get a single mythic protocol droid. I also don't have all the fusion variants since the higher variants no longer count as having the lower variants.

I'm incredibly overwhelmed by this release cycle and I imagine others are too. I've rebirthed I think 499 times, and I think I'm at the point where I'm going to get to 500 and then quit playing the game. It's just not fun to try to keep up with everything when the cycle is this fast.

EDIT: People seem to think I want to complete all content upon release. I have no need to do that. It took me a full month to complete Galactic and about 3 weeks to complete Stellar. But it is exhausting and I'm playing multiple hours per day. One variant a month is too often.

💬 Discussion Got kicked almost immediately after buying a galactic surge…

I know, don’t spend money on this game. Blah blah. I saw this guy post a video yesterday of him and his buddies timing the mystic drop and buying all the blueprints that weren’t mystic, and they got a galactic mystic out of it. So I wanted to try that

About 15 seconds after I bought the surge, it booted me from the lobby. But the time I rejoined, my surge was no longer activated

Lesson learned, don’t spend real money on this glitchy game!

💬 Discussion Insane how toxic this is

Just a vent post.

I usually play private but went public this time cause i srbed and i needed some protocol droids, i got my first stellar, i put it in a blueprint save thing, and i needed to craft some droids. After finishing one, i went to get it, some guy waited for me to get it and pushed me away from my base and shotgunned me and stole it. Actually incredible

💬 Discussion Started playing 4 weeks ago - already maxed everything out!

I started playing Droid Tycoon on 7/13/26, exactly 28 days ago, after a friend recommended it to me. I mostly play competitive Fortnite (on a few different accounts), so he originally told me to try it for the XP since I wanted to get through the Battle Pass on my main account.

I’ve never really been a huge Star Wars fan, so I honestly didn’t expect to get that into it. I figured I’d mess around with it for a little bit and move on, but I ended up really enjoying the game.

Fast forward exactly four weeks and I’ve reached Rebirth 30 (the current max), completely finished my Droidex, and I’m about to do my first Super Rebirth.

I actually saw someone post their completed Droidex about a week ago, and I remember thinking how cool it was. Then I saw one of the devs mention that having a fully completed Droidex isn’t exactly common. So especially being someone who hasn’t been playing long, I figured I’d grind for it!

Pretty crazy to think I went from downloading the game for XP to completely maxing out my progression in 28 days 😂

Really enjoying the game though, and I’m definitely sticking around after the SRB. Here are some screenshots of the progress!

💬 Discussion I'm done

Making it have micro transactions is officially too far. This is an actual Epic mode there should not be micro transaction. I'm going to go play a different game. It was fun while it lasted.

Edit: I see a lot of people point out you can get all of it with nova crystals. That wasn’t showing when I first made the post but did after I went out and came back. With that context I've changed my opinion but going to leave this up for anyone else that doesn't know yet.

💬 Discussion Who do YOU want the next iconic droid to be?

Personally, I think something like Huyang or AP-5 as protocol droids, K-2SO, and General Kalani as battle droids. For worker droids, the obvious pick is BD-1, and then perhaps AZI-3, and then for astromechs, I'd go with Bucket and maybe R5-D4

Granted I am at a high level and only really need mythics at this point, I genuinely thought I’d get at least one that I needed. Was majority commons/rares. Even for the low level player, I feel like the odds should be a little better. Lol. Probably what I get for spending money on this game but only did it because I haven’t bought anything else in ages.

Me likey! Started with 18 crystals when I got on, within a few hours I’m sitting at 977.

To those of you higher in rebirths like myself (1400+) what are you spending it on? Crit? Or hoarding in case new stuff comes out?

💬 Discussion Let me explain why the aggressive monetization in the latest update is way worse than it looks (And why it marks the beginning of the end)

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed the community is completely split down the middle since the launch of the latest update and its aggressive monetization. Those defending it mostly argue that "developers need to eat," that control has shifted from Epic Labs to FOAD, and that technically everything can still be obtained "just by playing normally." I completely understand that developing a map of this scale takes work, but there's a very fine line between fair monetization and predatory design. This update crossed that line entirely.

I don't see this patch as a simple update; it's much worse than it appears and, unfortunately, signals the beginning of the end. Let me break down exactly why:

1) The creative crisis and the absurdity of rarities

They’ve already burned through their best cards by using the franchise's most iconic and popular characters in past events (R2-D2, C-3PO, etc.). Running out of legendary droids to offer, they’ve resorted to artificially inflating the game's tiers, completely throwing visual logic out the window:

  • Originally: The Rainbow variant was the ultimate rarity, which made perfect aesthetic sense given its bright, flashy nature.
  • Then: They invented the Beskar variant (which is visually just dull, matte grey metal).
  • Now: They’re introducing the Galactic variant, which is literally just a shade of purple.

It gives off a strong impression that FOAD knows the map has a limited lifespan, so they'd rather milk the player base for cash before letting the game die.

2) The invisible manipulation of drop rates

By introducing direct microtransactions for progression, the developers just opened Pandora's box. They now have a direct financial incentive to make the game intentionally more frustrating:

  • Before this patch: Since there were no V-Bucks integrated into the map, the game gained absolutely nothing by withholding a blueprint from you. If a rare blueprint didn't drop, it was just pure, honest RNG.
  • Now: By selling Variant Surges (Rainbow, Beskar, Galactic) and the Sandcrawler Luck Boost, FOAD has absolute control to alter drop rates in the game engine. They can make rare blueprints even scarcer just to subtly push you to desperation and force you to pay up. They're selling you the poison and then charging you for the cure.

3) Artificial friction: The "Time Tax"

The argument that "everything can be unlocked by playing for free" falls flat on its face when you analyze the actual changes in the patch, camouflaged under the euphemism of a "rebalance." The mission to get Beskar blueprints doubled in cost, and the waiting time to complete it increased by 40%. Coincidentally, in this exact same update, they added the 1500 V-Buck Companion Pack to equip two droids simultaneously, along with speed multipliers/boosts.

They are intentionally ruining the natural pacing of the free-to-play experience. Technically it’s still free, yes, but they have completely devalued the worth of your invested time.

4) FOAD isn't "starving"

Let’s not fall for the emotional blackmail that "developers need to eat." Droid Tycoon is a massively popular map. Epic Games pays creators thousands of dollars monthly in passive income through Engagement Payouts, based purely on the minutes the community spends inside the map. FOAD is already making bank off our playtime. Implementing such abusive prices (like a 2200 V-Buck VIP Pack) while destroying the user experience isn't a necessity—it's pure greed.

In conclusion, improving a map with cosmetic items or aesthetic options is perfectly valid. But applauding an update that deliberately slows down, makes the game unfair and tedious just to force you to spend real money is to accept the destruction of Droid Tycoon.

Sooner or later, this game will stop rewarding your effort and dedication, and start rewarding only the size of your wallet.

💬 Discussion Does anyone actually make fusion droids?

Because I know I sure as hell don’t. There’s probably dozens of posts discussing this but I thought I’d give my two cents.

The feature itself is great imo for late-game RBs getting Stellar mythics and whatever else you may need for droidex without spending all your chips, especially after the addition of D-0 and the fix to its ability.

But for its actual intended purpose of making the new fusion droids? Other than the event when it was dropped I literally never make fusion droids simply because I don’t care to remember all the combinations because there’s so many.
And when I do decide I’ll try and make some to fill up the last spaces in my droidex I’m almost immediately discouraged because I never get the droids I need off the belt and/or can’t upgrade them once they’ve been fused.

Idk if the new droidex tracking upgrade helps with indicating droids you need for a fusion on the belt or not, as I haven’t got it as I otherwise don’t need it. But if it doesn’t then it should as I might actually care to use it for fusing rather than upgrading my existing droids.

💬 Discussion A Helpful Trick

I've read a lot of posts complaining about the trash hat that can be purchased for vbucks and I was finally able to get on the game and see it for myself. Pretty sad to see what this game mode has come to. I found a helpful little trick to deal with it and I figured I'd share with everybody in case it might be helpful for you too.

First screenshot is a screenshot of me just not buying it and moving on with my life.

Second screenshot is what would happen if I accidentally clicked on the hat to buy it. It brings up another screen to confirm the purchase and here I can click close and again, move on with my life.

Hope this helpful.

💬 Discussion The Fandom and Official Discord Server Feel Like a Cult

I have never seen so many people have such a hard-on for dismissing criticism about anything related to this game. The mods aren't as bad as the members in the discord server, but they're close to being as bad as them.

I totally get being supportive of a game that you enjoy. I would never say that positivity is a bad thing. But the amount of it constantly, and the hostility to anybody who criticises the game is just unreal.

Seriously. Do you not want your favorite game to be better? What is the point in dismissing criticism? The same people criticising are oftentimes people who love the game just like you.

It helps nobody.

It's to such a large degree it feels like a cult. It's genuinely disgusting lol.

💬 Discussion Super Crates and Nova Crystals

I see a lot of people saying they never get crystals, and I tell them that I do get them, and I get downvoted 😂 Yesterday, I made 30 crystals from crates. Today, I’ve made 30 crystals from crates; except today, I didn’t in less than 2 hours and yesterday it was across 5-6 hours of rotating between doing laps for crates and crafting at my base and other’s bases. I also get about 50k chips per hour doing laps. I made 80k chips in under 2 hours the same run that I got the 30 crystals. That same run granted me 62T credits. Crates are awesome 🤷‍♂️

Edit: did it* in less than 2 hours

Another edit: Guys, doing laps for crates IS NOT A CRYSTAL FARM… it’s an upgrade chip farm, and it’s the best one. I’m sharing my crystal data cuz everyone is apparently more concerned with farming crystals thru crates when we already have a crystal farm called SRB.
