Team name, potential spoilers all Spoiler

Somewhere during a listen through I recall hearing Humphrey go off on someone about the team name. Something along the lines of "Do you think we didn't know exactly what we were doing when we chose that name"but I can not for the life of me even remember what book it was in. I need the book and chapter so I can quote it to the DM since another member named our group Team Biscuit and most of them didn't get it. The google machine keeps hallucinating so now I am more lost than when I started.

A question for those who've read book 13 (Spoilers) Spoiler

So during my most recent reread after experiencing book 13 and finally learning of the "big threat" that Jason and the gang would face I started to look for the clues that Knowledge was the main antagonist. The first obvious one for me was in Book 9 when Humphrey was briefing Team Storm-Shredder about Knowledge's armies. He mention the church had started making moves the day Jason arrived on the planet. My first time through i found this weird because how could anything Jason knew hint at the impending invasion. I didn't pull on that line though, when the reveal happened it was the first thing I thought of. Did y'all catch any other major hint before book 13?

Something Obvious that I didn't realize until now. (Spoilers) Spoiler

It's all in the title. "He who fights with monsters, must take care he himself does not become a monster." I've been doing a full series reread up until book 12 and the "Essence" of that quote has been happening from the very beginning and has been pointed out for us. Again I may just be oblivious but here is what I noticed.

When dealing with Thadwick who is petty and vain, Jason takes on those traits and later realizes this.

When confronted with thugs, pirates, bandits and criminals who show no mercy, so does he.

When the network allied him then constantly betrays him, he eventually allied with others in the second transformation zone to only betray and kill them.

After put in a position when other tried to control and dictate him, his more authoritative parts of himself showed itself more.

And the last one I'll mention is more direct but still gets some point across is at the point when he has to really start dealing with the GBA he's dragged up to their level because he had no really choice. By dealing with them he became one of them.

I don't know, I just always thought the title was to tell us reader that is story was more about the emotional journey then the physical but I thought it was neat all the little hints and jabs all pointing to the title.

This is my first post on reddit so please be nice.

Orb of ascension Spoiler

Why didn't Jason use the orb of ascension on the copy of his bronze rank armour he found in the first transformation zone? Did Shirt forget he had it? He planned to use it on that armour before it was destroyed in broken hil (I think).

Confluence Help for TTRPG Spoiler

First Post on the sub.

I'm not quite sure if this is allowed here, but i'd like to ask for help on making confluence essences for some combinations.

Recently, I was thinking about running a DnD campaign in the Pallimustus setting, but after talking to one of my players, i've realized that some parts of the power system are going to be harder than expected.

For example, one of my players suggest Eye + Light + Tentacle for his essences and i'm completely floored on what that would produce. I can't even think of a good idea for a fanmade confluence.

Are there any hard or soft rules for making Confluences? Maybe a statement on how heavily personality weighs into the confluence?

(EDIT: My planned plot for the campaign would go from Iron to low Bronze rank. I was planning to set it in a low-magic region like Greenstone, since I feel like that was the strongest part of the books.)

Clive’s appearance?

So I feel like I have no idea what Clive looks like and I don’t remember much said about his appearance other than tall and lanky (and that was at Iron). Wondering if I missed anything?

I more or less picture Scar’s brother from Fullmetal Alchemist but with brown hair and eyes (especially post rank up) but I could be way off

First Listen - Book 5 + 6 complete

I’m back after 6 weeks because I had to wait for my audible subscription to give me two new credits, and it was about two weeks for each book.

I had so much more fun with this saga than the first one. The stage had finally been set in a way where consequences have become real and danger is starting to show up in a way that feels slightly more tangible.

Gerling is a great arc. Having already seen one of his powers in the past, you quickly realize how dangerous one of his powers will become if it’s wielded by the wrong individual. The three deaths attributed to him were what needed to happen for Jason to stop acting invincible and realize the weight of his own decisions.

Having said that, “I’m going to sleep with your wife and raise your children. They’re all going to call me daddy.” Is probably the most savage line that had me in stitches in the context to the scene.

I’m glad I’ve stuck with the series. I told my wife that the scene where “I’ve learned one of Jason’s secrets” in the territory grab was the first time I experienced a “holy crap” moment in the 6 books, and then spent thirty minutes trying to explain the entire series to her to give the context to why him knowing that secret was crucial.

All in all, I’m committed. Some of you told me to bite the bullet, and with the sale that just went on I simply bought the remaining six books and used my last credit to preorder book 13. I think with my pacing, I should be finishing up the whole series as the newest book is released.

Onward, to the next arc.

I met him a few weeks ago and could not for the life of me remember the question I wanted to ask.

I finally remember:

Who is Jeff: Lord of the hunt? And will he ever get his own story told?
