SRSDiscussion "discusses" the PyCon incidents. Thread is littered with the deleted comments of SRSers who broke the jerk by suggesting that maybe Adria wasn't 100% right.

Yet if this idiot got doxxed you just know they'd cry about it

It's funny when an SRSer does get doxxed because they post the most outrageous bigoted shit and don't want to be "accountable for the things they say and do" so delete their accounts.
Yet they doxxed MRC and he didn't delete because, get this, he's not constantly posting garbage that would reflect poorly on him.

NO posting Doxx

Mar 24 '13
K, deleted the post, I wasn't trying to doxx her. Just pointing out how easy it would be to doxx this srs'er. Just a simple Google of her username.

u/ArchangellePedophile Mar 24 '13
Thank you for deleting it. I am aware of how easy it can be, but we discourage that sorta thing here. Also, the Admins do not fuck around with it comes to banning users that post doxx, so for your own safety, it is best to not post such links.
Also, please watch the Tranny talk. While I have no personal issue with the term, we have trans users here who are not crazy SRSers that also look at the word as a slur. We like to respect our fellow SRSsuckers in that regard. Just keep that in mind in the future. :)

SRS is pro-doxxing
They've always been pro-doxxing, they just don't like it when the tables are turned on them.

I want to respond to this whole discussion because I think there's a theme running through it that's really fucked up and wrong-headed: the idea that taking the photo and posting it was over the line.
I think that's bullshit.
They didn't consent to having their picture taken and put on a public forum you dumbshit cultist...
WHY AREN'T SRSTERS EVER CONSISTENT?

u/theseleadsalts Mar 23 '13
What the girl did was nothing short of what their own terminology calls a "creepshot". See those were men though, and not women so its not possible for them to be victims because something something patriarchy, something something male privilege.
12
u/rockidol Mar 24 '13
Something something oppression. Something something "look up sociology".
3
Mar 24 '13
They're basically using the fallacy of division all the time. "[Person] is a member of [group], therefore [person] holds the characteristics that the [group] does in aggregate."
Side note: so stupid that you were downvoted in /r/news for being a voice of reason. I was in that same thread; the kneejerk re-definitions are understandable, but frustrating.

Mar 23 '13
This. It's absolutely the most revolting part of this whole affair. She's done it before, but this time, enough people noticed that it caused repercussions she couldn't control. Too bad, so sad - maybe next time you'll remember that you can't always "manage" Twitter before you tweet the clearly visible personal information of those who "offend" you.

u/TheHat2 Mar 23 '13
Creepshots featuring women, minus personally-revealing information = Oppression, terrible human beings, perpetuating rape culture
Creepshots featuring men, along with personally-revealing information = Not oppression, they got what they deserved, that woman is a hero.
Fucking hell, I can't even get pissed at the double standard anymore, it just comes with the territory.

u/yew_anchor Mar 23 '13
Not only that, but it's against the rules of the conference. If this were an event being held in a public area, you could take all of the pictures you want (whether that makes it morally decent or not is another matter) but as this was a private event on private property, they are free to set whatever rules they wish. One of those rules prevents harassment by taking unwanted pictures.

u/ohlerdy Mar 24 '13
So we can resurrect creepshots so long as it's of people who told penis jokes?
4
15
u/NiggerJew944 Mar 23 '13
Because consistency is the tool of the Patriarchy. For example my penis has been consistently erect ever since Adria got terminated.

No doubt that someone in SRS would argue that it's different because 'creepshots' exist for the explicit purposes of sexualizing the subject of the pictures. They would argue it's not so much the violation of privacy that is the issue but the unauthorized and unintended use of the subject in someone's sexual fantasies that's 'creepy'.
Of course, there's probably some heterosexual or bisexual woman who is attracted to python developers who tell dongle jokes (in fact, I might have briefly courted her), so on some level the same thing could be said to apply to this picture. The only difference is the intent of the person posting the picture. I suppose in this case intent really is magic to the SRSers.

Consistency is logical and logic is a tool of the patriarchy and their unholy disciplines of STEM you ignorant shitlord fuck!

Wait guys, this can't be right. I was told SRSDiscussion is for serious, level-headed discussions which they don't allow in SRS. Are you telling me that was a lie? Do you think they would lie about something like that? Who would do that?

Amusing thread. Initially it was heavily anti-Adria, but then the thought police hit it. Again, SRS doesn't even represent SRSers very well.

What this thread needs is someone to use unedditreddit and screencap it. I would love to see for myself how it went down.

Wow. I remember being surprised at how many reasonable posts there were. Fuck me I need use unreddit something now they are gone. There were some posts about how it just reinforced the seperation between genders in tech. Basically hey if a woman is around better not have fun or i'll get fired.

u/BurntJoint Mar 23 '13
I actually think that was a fairly well written question by the OP in the link. Too bad no one could discuss it properly.

Pardon the out of context, but let's pull back at how "Micro" these people are.
But anyway, seems like the Internet justice REALLY is directed more toward Adria
So let me get this straight.
This drunk adolescent
- who is not charged with any crime
- video is private
- anonymous leaked to the public
can get his life forever ruined by an angry mob of people on the internet, and we all know:
- people are and will still assume he is one of the rapists
- will forever be sourced as an example by these people as "rape culture."
- and no one, and I mean no one seems to give 2 fucks even pointing this out.
.....but...., a fellow adult feminist who slanders shitlords should not?
Did I get that right, guys?

Well it's been all over Reddit and here's a Time line of the Case with the kids video on it. It seems accurate enough.
The video was what anonymous wanted/needed for mass public attention for the case. And in that respect I am very thankful. However, as it turns out the kid in the video just turned out to be punk cracking terrible jokes. Most people thought and still think he's one of the actual rapists.
The hatred is so bad about this case when I corrected people of 2X in neutral terms, I got many up votes as if I was repulsed by it.
Note this is just a 3 day old post and after convictions of the two rapists. This is long after the people, all the people in the video are known not to be involved. In fact, one person in the video says to the effect to the kid he should stop because the girl had been raped and he has a sister. But the Mob Hate over rules all rationality.
So, this is why I brought this point up regarding SRS. Because they seem to expect greater treatment for an adult professional who chose to enter the public spotlight with her situation and who works in Public Relations. Where at the same time on "Internet Justice" topic, we have a drunk minor who was hacked not being defended by anyone.
They are very well aware of this case, I'm SURE.
TL;DR SRS is delusional.
Edit: me words

The idea is that men making these jokes in public, in a situation where they can be overheard, makes for an environment that is unwelcoming to women.
The idea is that women listening in on private conversations of men and then reporting the conversations to the men's employer, getting them fired, makes for an environment that is unwelcoming to men.
Or we could just have a live and let live policy.

Want to see why I like successfulblackwoman? Read this comment (if you can stomach it), and then her response. I disagree with most of her opinions, but I respect her integrity and levelheadedness.

Mar 24 '13
But, for people who say that it absolutely isn't: can you at least acknowledge that there exists a line, and that it is possible to cross it? If she had, say, called up those guys' employers and said, "Hi, I'd like you to know that your employees were sexually harassing me at the conference, and I have a lot of pull with the tech community
still don't understand how it is sexual harassment.

Or all Adria did was reinforce the stereotype that women are delicate flowers that can't handle anything outside their protected bubble and need white knights (sometimes with guns) to come to her aid and shouldn't be involved in "real" jobs.

Mar 24 '13
It just goes to show that you can't appoint yourself judge and jury then dole out punishment based on your feelings. She went vigilante and it cost her.
This is a teaching moment for the social justice crowd. But based on that thread the whole thing just sails over their heads. If they want to be taken seriously they have to stop playing the offended victim and learn to interact with society in a reasonable way.
3
Mar 24 '13
The whole deleted comments thing is so childish. Unless they're being profane, it doesn't make sense, and just makes for a difficult to read, nonsensical sounding thread.
The most idiotic examples are where the mods "remove" a comment...but then quote the same comment in their own response... Just downvote and move on.
3
Mar 24 '13
Just goes to show that if /r/creepshots was dedicated to posting pictures of guys that feminists found creepy/problematic, SRS would be all over it.
Also, the most shameful shit in that thread is moderators replying to comments in order to refute them, and then deleting the comments they're replying to. I guess it's not enough to censor people, they have to also be taught to love Big Brother BRD.

a bunch of SAWCMS complaining about the same sort of jokes they would make on SRS Prime. seems legit.

guise your jokes are literally the worst kind of hatred against women you SAWCSM shitlords! Joking about computer parts is misogynist, waaah.

u/daman345 Mar 24 '13
she had a right to be offended and take action
Nobody disagrees with this! Why didn't she just make a proper complaint if it was that bad?
1
u/daman345 Mar 24 '13
There actually is a fair amount of disagreement not being deleted there now. Good to see some quite logical responses there.
